I wanted to warn consumers about the deceptive practice we encountered when using Precision Door.. We knew that the spring was broken, but the tech tried to tell us that
the rollers needed to be replaced at 5 rollers per side at a cost of $25.00 each.  The rollers were fine; we just needed the spring replaced.  We asked for a quote and including the service call fee of $49.00, and the replacement spring would be around $100.00 he tried to charge us $350. 00.  We told him that was outrageous but we were in a jam and could not get our car out of the garage due to the broken spring.  We notice that the tech took off
the service sticker of the company that installed the original garage door spring.  When we asked if he removed the sticker and he denied taking the sticker, as he placed the Precision Door service call number sticker in its place.  He did come down $100.00 after we called him on his lie.

Your claim is invalid.

When you just want to do a spot repair and not fix the problem- you have more problems in the future.

When any garage door service company comes out, they always recommend failing parts to be replaced. Its customers that only fix "the spring" or wind old springs that have the problem again.

Precision is the ONLY GARAGE DOOR Service to service garage doors 7 days a week in the BAY AREA.

You had NO RESPONSE from others!

Precision garage Door responded to your request in a timely fashion.
other companies made you wait. They DID NOT CARE YOUR CAR was STUCK!

You can get prices on the internet, but NO BODY INSTALLS.

Unnamed consumer- you have to pay for great service which is what you received.

If your spring is breaking, your other parts are also going to be failing.
Parts are rated in cycles. Springs and rollers can begin failing after just 3 years in a residential garage door.

You also talked about "winds".  Our call center NEVER TALKS ABOUT WINDING SPRINGS.
It has NOTHING to do with pricing- so you probably spoke to another company.

YOU HAD THE OPTION to WAIT. You did not.

Beware and Cautious when using Precision Doors

AUTHOR: Niners1 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 02, 2012

1.)  We did call the company on the sticker and they were not able to get someone out to our home until Monday.  The problem occurred on Saturday afternoon.  With that said, why would your tech remove the sticker in the first place and then proceed to say that he did not remove the sicker.  That was a lie.  Your tech should not remove anything without the homeowners consent.  How come you did not address that in your rebuttal?

2.)  Well I would dispute that.... We chose Precision doors based on that information of "around $100 depending on the number of winds that would be needed."  Your call center gave us that information. We call 2 other companies before calling Precision doors back to make the appointment based on the what we were told and the proximity of Precision Door.  Common sense would dictate asking for a estimated price and getting addition quotes.

3.)  If your tech had explained that the door needed to be balanced if the rollers did not work and that door can stick creating possible problems.  Then we would have considered replacing the rollers, but instead he worded it that the rollers were part of the current problem.  The problem was with the spring.  Answer this, if the old rollers were a problem how is it that the door is operating just fine without replacing a single roller?  It seems as if you were tying to inflate the bill by suggesting a service that was not required to fix the problem at hand. (Suggestive selling).

4.)  I cannot confirm that we were given a 25 point safety inspection.  If this was done it was not disclosed to us verbally.

5.)  Time of day Saturday around 2:00PM. Response time satisfactory since you were located closer than the other company we called.  You knew we were in a jam as far as having to get the car out that is why we feel that the price as much more higher than quoted by you and one of the other quotes we received.  The ONLY reason why we let Precision go ahead with the work is because we would have lost the $49.00 service fee for just having Precision look at the garage door.

6.)  Door was 5 years old.

Message to America - After all is said and done, Precision Door was allowed to come to our home based the quote + or - what we expected.  We expected around $200.00 but were charged $350.00 only after we vehemently complained and caught the tech in a lie about the sticker then he reduced the price to $250.00  (America be careful and cautious when deeding with Precision doors)

A number of issues with complaint

AUTHOR: shark58 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 02, 2012

It is difficult to respond to unnamed complaints as we have no "REAL DATA" to go by, however, there are a number of problems here and questions arise from your complaint.

1- WHY DID YOU NOT call the company on the sticker that installed your garage door? They either are out of business or they would not respond to your service call. Precision Door service answered the phone and responded to your need. Had you purchased your garage door from PRECISION OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR SERVICE you would have had a warranty on the springs and they would have been replaced at no charge.  From this I can tell that this was either a weekend call or an evening call.

2-  We record ALL calls to our call center that is open 24/7. I can STATE THAT PRECISION DOOR DOES NOT QUOTE $100 over the phone or in the garage. I can verify this if I can get your name and address.

3- The door needs to be balanced. If the rollers do not work the door can stick and create problems including damaging the opener. Our nylon rollers are high cycle and create smoother and quieter operation of the door. He gave you the price for the rollers and you refused- so where is the deception?

4- Your are given a 25 point safety inspection of your door and the technician recommends the needed repairs and upgrades. YOU have the right to refuse which you did.

5- What was the time of day? Was it evening? Did we respond quickly? Is there any value you place on your time, having access to your vehicle and use of your garage? What value did the unnnamed company have when they did not respond to you when you were in NEED?

6- How old is your door? OLDER DOORS need parts replaced to operate efficiently and quietly.

So you are telling America that we ripped you off. When after all is said and done, Precision Door answered your call when others did not, came to your home AFTER BUSINESS HOURS, fixed your door in a timely fashion, and charged your less than $200?

I respectfully request you remove the UNNAMED COMPLAINT.
