3 years ago we purchased our Morkie (yorkie/maltese mix) puppy for our daughter's 5th birthday gift. the puppy was 1 lb, 12 oz when she was paid ($1800.00) absolutely adorable and our daughter was in love.

the puppy was not immediately released to us after she was paid for in full, due to the employees stating that the puppy needed to have all of her vaccinations prior to being released to us. after getting her released to us about 1 week later, she developed this horrible cough, which our vet described as "kennel cough" and we were given medication for our puppy to take. the cough did eventually subside.

on several occasions, over the past months we noticed our puppy's weight fluctuate and she was becoming very picky with her food. so we assumed that she just got tired of her normal food and maybe wanted something different. so we changed her food....but that did not help. she would have days where she would have energy and
days when she would just sleep.

at our puppy's last vet visit a few months ago, she weighed 4 lbs.

on may 30, 2014 our puppy vomited about 3 times and ate little bits and drank water. she played a little, had a bath, and slept for most of the day,

on may 31, 2014, we came home at about 6:30pm to find our puppy head pressing, vomiting, and struggling to walk around. we rushed her to 24 hour veterinary hospital and was informed that she had a birth defect called a portosystemic shunt which had become so advanced that there was nothing more that could be done to save her, so we made the difficult decision to put our "baby" down, so she could no longer suffer. at 9:25pm our puppy was put down...she weighed 3 lbs at the time of her passing.

our daughter is heartbroken, and so is our family.

I do believe that something was hidden from us regarding the true health of our puppy. I would not recommend anyone buy a puppy from puppies n love: arrowhead or any other location. I don't believe that after paying $1800.00 for a puppy, it should die in a matter of 3 short years. they claim to get their puppies from reputable breeders and I feel like that is untrue. now we are left with trying to pick up the pieces and help our now 8 year old deal with the unexpected death of her beloved puppy.
