Save yourself the trouble, and agony of working with this company.  Their technician came to my house on a Wednesday to fix a dead fan motor.  Not only was he unpleasant to work with, he was trying to fault me for the blown motor, and make me feel like an idiot.  He fixed the motor, and after he left, the fan started making a shattering metal on metal sound, which it took them 2 days to come back and diagnose during 102F days.  Once the technician came back, he said that the shattering sound was not because of his work, but because a fan wheel was so dirty, that it was out of balance and causing the noise.  He had no desire to help me with this situation, and said the home warranty wouldn't cover the VERY loud noise.  So loud, it was easily picked up by my cell phone, and recorded.  

I asked to speak with a supervisor, only to be insulted by him -- and called a liar, because his technician is a "superb and trustworthy technician, with no customer complaints."  I was then told by the supervisor that this technician wears glasses that record audio and video in the home, which I found to be very inappropriate, and frankly -- creepy.  I'll also be filing a civil complaint about this, since he's legally not allowed to record in a private place without notification or consent of the property owner.

I warn you now... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHAFFER AND SONS.  They are not accountable for their sub-par craftsmanship, and you will only be called a liar and told to go somewhere else if you have any complaints.  I can't advise you enough how important it is that you do not use this company.  If a warranty company sends them to you, I would request another company be dispatched so that you're not stuck with bigger problems than what you originally called them for.
