I do have two unpaid checks out there with WalMart and Mejiers. There was an error in my Credit Union's calculations. My credit union admitted this by the way, but took their fees anyway and didn't pay the checks. I rarely write checks, I use my debit card. However...

TRS, even though I have explained everything from the beginning, including calling the said stores as soon as I found out what happened before TRS got involved, TRS has called me every single day for nearly a month. They start at eight am and go on until nearly 10pm. They call at a minimum, twice each day.

I was twice threatened with them showing up at my house and "getting the money" from me. This was shouted at me by a woman who also told me that I was a "deadbeat" who didn't "deserve to have anything in life" and that they would keep putting the check through until I had no money in my account!

I am disabled, all the credit union fees made it impossible to pay the two checks when my second SSI check came. And TRS makes it very clear they will not accept payment arrangements. I do not write bad checks, as I was accused of. This was an error by my credit union. Due to all the fees, which caused problems even paying my water bill now - I own my house btw - making payments is the only way I have at this point to pay these.

I don't think they really want the money at all, since they refuse payment arrangements of any kind, and I have tried over and over to do this. I was even told they would not give me an address to send payment, it had to be over the phone, and it had to be all of it at once. I have since found the address but was told if I sent anything short of the full amount of each, that they would "throw it out in the trash".

I have requested a letter from them to make sure this is legitimate, they refuse. Mejiers, when I call them, doesn't know who this company is! The amounts they ask for change at least every other day. And I don't mean always going up. Sometimes it's as much as 20.00 less one day and more the next.

I have also been given threats of them calling my disability case worker, as well as Social Security Office, to get my disability stopped since I am a "crook" according to them. Just this morning at 8:30am I got such a call and hung up on her. They called back not 10 minutes later.

I too, like others, have unknown caller blocking for my phone service. I turned the service on, but have discovered that when they call me, the service goes off and I have to turn it back on again! I had to finally give up on that. That cannot be legal.

TRS Scammed my credit union and stole money from me.

TRS used a different name and different bank name, and illegally took money from my checking account. The idiots at my Credit Union realized their mistake, but won't fix it. (hence my rip off report on them).

They illegally took nearly 400 dollars from me, and then I had to pay the fees the credit union charged me.

When you are disabled, like I am (car accident), life is hard enough to survive on S Security.

How can they get away with this?

It seems as if the FTC is useless. You file your complaint, they contact you and tell you the behavior is illegal, but nothing is done and then money gets stolen from you. It's insane.

Here is what you should do! Go to Walmart and buy a tape recorder. Now write a letter to Telecheck telling them not to contact you again by phone or mail. Send the letter to them by registered mail. Very important to send it 'registered' or they can say they did not receive it.
Now, everytime they call you record the conversation on the little recorder. Record as many of these conversations as you can making sure to add the date and time of the call. Keep recording every call for at least 2 or 3 weeks after your registered letter has been shown as delivered.
Now take it to your nearest attorneys office. See how fast they back off and how much they have to pay you for violating the fair collections act. lol Then smile real pretty as you close out your nice hefty checking account from the credit union that started the issue and move your new found wealth to a different bank. You have got to be joking. Have you ever read the FDCPA?

First of all, the ripoff that the OP is stating is: TRS Recovery Services, Telecheck Threatening, Harrassing Phone Calls Every day at all Hours. This is because there is a debt owed. You can cease and desist all you want, that will not remove or erase the debt. If there is no debt owed, they wouldn't be calling her. I said to the OP's credit, they should not be treating or talking to her the way they are, but it could be resolved by paying the debt. A ripoff is when you get taken, swindled, or otherwise tricked into something. This is not the case. She/he created a debt and has not paid it back. Simple as that. So, as I stated, there's no ripoff when the company is calling for a justified reason. Their collections methods may be sketchy but they are entitled to get their money.

Isabel, you need to stop talking to them on the phone. You need to see a lawyer as soon as possible. If you cant affort one, contact the county bar association or your disability worker and see if they can help you find some legal aid.

You can write them a "cease communication" letter. By law, once you tell them to stop, they must stop. If not, you will have a valid law suit against them.

On his web site, Bud Hibbs has a great example of a cease communication letter.
You can use this one.


Send it to their office. Send it certified mail, return receipt required.
Put your name and what ever account number they may have.

There a few things wrong with this report

--well that would be what they keep calling you for. Pay the checks and you'll stop getting calls.

--banks/credit unions can't take or enforce fees if there's a bank error.

I do not write bad checks, as I was accused of.
--technically you do if they are being called by a check processing collections dept.

I don't think they really want the money at all, since they refuse payment arrangements of any kind, and I have tried over and over to do this. I was even told they would not give me an address to send payment, it had to be over the phone, and it had to be all of it at once. I have since found the address but was told if I sent anything short of the full amount of each, that they would "throw it out in the trash".
--since they probably already paid the merchant on your behalf since they insured your check would be paid, they have a right not to accept payment arrangements and request payment in full. You, however, have the right not to pay them.

I don't agree with their collections methods, if they treated and talked to you the way you say they did, but there's no ripoff when you owe the money.
