I WAS RIPPED OFF BY THESE PEOPLE TO

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Joined the one here in Houston, Texas. Total RIP OFF JOKE!!!

When I showed up the next morning to cancel the manger was hiding in his car. I saw him get in and lock all the doors.
Needless to say I was ripped of of $1500. Yeah, they like to play on one's emotions.
I was never able to get my money back. Wish someone would bring a class action against them.

To the SA Manager of Together

AUTHOR: Faron - (U.S.A.)

If your contract DOES NOT state the customer has 3 business days to cancel the contract IN FULL, then you are in direct violation of Texas law. The customer would have to contact you in writing to enforce this, which, it is apparent this customer did not do.

#17 UPDATE Employee

this is ridiculous.

AUTHOR: May - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 28, 2008

I honestly feel so bad for my manager/owner, after seeing stuff like this.

I just want to say first off that these opinions are MY OWN opinions, and I am in no way speaking for Together Dating or any of its other owners or employees; this is truly what I think as a PERSON of these posts:

I am an employee at Together Dating and have been for about six months. I am not a manager or anything, I just talk to folks to schedule their appointments.

I know for a fact that everything we tell our customers is absolutely true. Our service has been around since 1974!!! I'm sorry but no one with half a brain would doubt a service's true ability to do what they say they will when they've been around for that long. If we were truly a scam, or ripoff, etc., there is no way we'd still be around. Are we perfect? No. But no service is!!

There are complaints about every single service, product, company around. Restaurants, devices, clothing companies, food brands, EVERYTHING has complaints on them!! It's absolutely ridiculous to take out anger about the service not working out exactly the way you had hoped for you on the owner of the company. I know for a fact that the owner of Together (i see him every single work day) cares about each and every customer. He truly puts the customers first. That is why there are some of you saying "oh i paid 100 dollars" or "i only paid this blah blah blah" because in the end its not about MONEY; we want to match you!! We want you to find someone you fall in love with and end up with!! And we do it with 97% of all of our customers!!

I know that he takes action immediately if a customer has any sort of complaint or aprehension about something, and he works hard to accommodate almost immediately. I work there!! Don't you think I'd know of any "sales tactics" that would be going on if there were any?? I have a family and there is no way in hell I would ever be a part of any other dating service because they HAVE NO RESULTS. THEY ARE TRULY ripoffs. Internet dating is a ripoff!! Going to bars every other day hoping and wishing to meet someone even remotely worth while for years and years on end is a RIPOFF!!!! And we all know this!! I don't know ONE PERSON who met their true "soul mate" or whatever at a bar. Or online. It's ridiculous.

Honestly, he's a much bigger person than me. And much more fit for his position in life and with this company, because there is no way I'd be able to handle the hypocracy and finger pointing that goes on with some people in this world.

Some of the things you people are saying is full-out admitting that it didn't even have anything to do with us, you just got worried or someone didn't work out for you (which is going to happen!! why would you purchase a membership with several matches if EVERY ONE was supposed to be the one??) etc., and it's awful and unfair to point the fingers back at us. You have every will and right to not join!! If it wasn't for you, you shouldn't have joined. But it was for you. That is why you joined Together. And it's very unfair to try to turn it around just because you get cold feet or irritated.

You truly get what you pay for. You really cannot find another service out there in this field that will give you the protection and the value of NATIONAL criminal background checks, making sure no one is still married, etc. It is better than anything out there currently, and we've been doing it and doing it right for 35 years almost.

It really is a shame when people act like this, I believe. But I truly do admire the owner of this company for responding so nicely and truly understanding and willing to help to any unhappiness or concern that his customers have.

Response to Johnny's Complaint

AUTHOR: Manager - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 29, 2007

Together would like to respond to Johnny's complaint, by first saying that our Clients' satisfaction with our service is extremely important to us.

Johnny joined our service with the intentions, and hopes, of meeting quality singles in the San Antonio area. Following Johnny's enrollment in our service, Together completed Johnny's Member Profile, evaluated and processed his compatibility testing, and completed his criminal background check. The next day, just as Together was contracted to do, Johnny was provided with his first referrals.

On Monday, the day after Johnny joined our service, he did call our office inquiring about his ability to cancel his membership. After speaking to his enrollment counselor about his nervousness, Johnny not only agreed to continue using our service and his membership, he then approved the referrals made for him by our company.

Since the time of Johnny's joining, he has received 3 referrals from Together Dating Service; he has spoken to at least 2 of them, and possibly all 3.

Johnny states in his complaint that he feels that as soon as a Client joins our service, they are not entitled to a refund; this is not true. Our contract is extrememly clear about this, and it is completely explained to all of our members. We are so thorough in explaining our cancellation policy, that we ask all of our Clients to place their initials or signature directly next to the cancellation policy; Johnny's signature is next to the cancellation policy, showing his complete understanding and acceptance of the policy.

It is not a time frame that qualifies Clients for a refund; it is the amount of work done by Together, as well as the exchange of confidential information about one Client, to another. This exchange of information makes the Client liable for the entire membership fee. Again, this is clearly explained to our Clients in their interview, and at the time they sign the contract.

It is important for all who use this forum to truly understand the difference between a company that is a rip-off, and a company that has done exactly as it was contracted by its Clients. As a general rule, contracts do not entitle a customer/Client to a refund because of a change of mind. This complainant would have the readers of this website believe that Together is at fault here, because we actually matched our Client in a timely fashion, and have begun performing the services contracted by the Client; this is unfair.

In fact, this is the very sign of a company that is not a rip-off. A rip-off, by definition is a company that is in breach, or has failed to perform or provide the product or service; this is clearly not the case here. It is not fair for a consumer to label a company a rip-off, when the company has done nothing, but perform according to the very terms of the contract that you agreed to follow. Together sincerely attempts to resolve any issue brought to our attention.

what a rip ..The people who work for these places are just flunkies like car sales people

AUTHOR: Lee Ving - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 24, 2006

10K for a dating service?! I-N-S-A-N-E. The people who work for these places are just flunkies like car sales people, they have no magical skills or abilities. The only skill they have is giving you a good screwing. Do you think they recieved degrees from Stanford in Human Matchological Sciences?

You can meet chicks for free anywhere, just go to bars or clubs, the most a chick can do is tell you to get lost, or slap you or possibly dump a drink over your head if you're rude and crude, but it's free. When I was single most chicks at bars would tell me to buzz off, but I never cared, there were always a few drunker than me, and that's what you need to focus on.

I think these dating services unfortunately prey upon the vulnerable. Most likely these "matchmakers" are laughing their asses off that people would actually hand over 10K to get a date.

10K would have bought you a whole lot of hookers big guy.

We do not "pull names from a hat"

AUTHOR: Michele - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 24, 2006

I am an employee of a Together office in Reno, NV. Keep in mind this is a franchised company and I do not work for the owner of the San Antonio office. But we do things the same way.
I am sorry for your loss and dissatisfaction with our process, but I resent being called "some dimwit matchmaker" and we do NOT pull names out of a hat. Matches are based on appearance, education, personality and hobbies. I admit they can be hard to find. After I make a match, it is approved by the owner of our office. But our members want a good match, not a fast one. So they wait.

Sir, you signed a contract. If you did not read it, why did you sign it? Thats not smart. At any point in the interview, you can shake hands and part with us professionally. I am sorry you chose to go this route, you are only making bad karma for yourself. Don't sue. They have a contract. They will win. An you will owe court costs as well.

This is insane

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 24, 2006

You have to spend anywhere from $3000-$10K to find a date? STOP!!!!!!!

Go to anyplace where people hang out. You can spend less than 5% of the minimum membership level, and go home with a winner. Even if he/she isn't your soul mate, at least you're happy for a while.

Keep going back, or find another place to scout. It's just finding people with the same interests as you. It can be a Church function, a bar, a ballgame, a museum, Theater, beach, book store/coffee house, etc.

Good gravy people! I found my wife while working at a Pizza Parlor while still in High School. I don't think I spent $1000 total, while dating her. We've been together for 27 years.

With all of the online date sites selling memberships for next to nothing, I can't even fathom blowing $thousands$ just to get a name and introduction. I can get that much for FREE from a total stranger in any of the places I mentioned.

select names out of a hat and tell you that this is your Mate

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 24, 2006

This company is nothing but a RIP-OFF. Men and Women are being told that they can have the mate of their life through them and for $1,500 just to start and this amount can go up to $6,000.They give you all this spiel for 2-3 hrs in their office and you take some sort of exam to find your compatibility and then have some dim wit Match Maker select names out of a hat and tell you that this is your Mate. It's all a big LIE !!!!.

JUST DO IT!

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 23, 2006

The truth of the matter is that not every individual member of Together is going to be happy with this service. With thousands of members, you cannot expect everyone to get the results they are looking for!

I joined Together a little over two years ago, just as skeptical as any other 33 year old woman would be. "Buyers Remorse" does come into play in this situation, trust me - i felt the same way!

Today, I am grateful for what Together did for me. Not only did they bring my soulmate and I "Together" - they helped to bring a new life into this world as well; My 3 month old daughter.
This is not a "scam". It is like any other company - they make a profit, yes. But they also help people fall in love along the way.

I say give them a try - have you even met anyone yet!?

UPDATE

AUTHOR: Johnny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 15, 2006

8-16-2006 0930 am.........i called together dating here in san antonio this morning around 9-930 am and talked to a girl by the name jeanette who transferred me to "the owner" and we talked. and i said all i wanted to do was to settle this peacefully and i wanted a full refund of my money and did not want to cause problems for myself or his "business"..

he stated that they gave me 3 numbers which they did not they gave me 2 phone numbers which i did not call but took the numbers and the contract back to together and asked for a refund of which they said "NO". The "owner" said he had been in business for 14 years and they had done nothing wrong and did not twist my arm to get me to sign the contract...they did not twist my arm but cindy statham made me feel that i really needed their service especially after explaining what i went thru in my divorce in may.

My uncle also passed away last monday/8-8-2006 and we buried him on this past wednesday and while i was back home in Virginia my Dad had to have emergency surgery and he is 88.I told this to the "owner" and he told me if i continue to pursue this and file reports with ripoffreport and or if i take legal action that he can prove they have done nothing wrong and have an Attorney and WILL SUE ME for SLANDER!!!!!

That within itself does not say much for together or its owner and makes me think they do things for their benefit(get your money) and could care less about your financial situation or anything else going on with you.Its ALL about the MONEY its seems...i could be wrong but if it was not all about the money why would they not just refund the money to my credit card...????

Especially knowing what i have told them.why? I guess they really don't care about the individual situation with people its ALL ABOUT THEM and their paychecks and lifestyle!!!!!!

My wife sold a service like this c1970

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 09, 2006

She even talked some people, usually men, OUT of joining. Why?

Her first step was to give you a 30-question psych-profile test that rated 5 personality traits. This test told her how to pitch a given person, and it also told her when to NOT sell the dating program to a particular person. There are some strange, and even dangerous, unsupervised people on the loose!

So the NUMBER ONE question should be: Does the service you are considering SCREEN OUT those strange and possibly dangerous people. This is more important than any money you spend.

The company where my wife once worked had 3 offices, and the man who owned the company was honest except that he always told the "girl" who was running each office how fantastic the "other girls" working in the other offices were doing, i.e. implying that when he talked to you, you were not doing so well. That seemed dishonest. Turned out my wife was doing the best of all.

If the person bought (and my wife already had a fair idea where reasonable matches were) then the customer was scheduled to revisit for an extensive test. The extensive test was then evaluated using a leased IBM computer that was quite expensive then [and a much better performing PC can be bought today for $1000].

The true costs of doing all this were somewhat modest while the fee was $300 for a two-year service with no limit on the number of matches except no more than one new match a week. With inflation that would be less than $900 today. $9,000 is excessive in any light.

I do not recall any success statistics, but I think one will do better at church socials and volunteer activities that attract both sexes. These venues will attract persons who have common interests, and having common interests is your first step into a good relationship!

BIG DEAL STEVE !

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 09, 2006

This Together Dating Company is a big waste of time and money. They do not care one bit on finding you the right match like they offered you when you signed up. All they want is your money, they do not care one bit about your feelings are what you are really looking for in a match.

KABC7 here in Los Angeles did a report on the Together Company in Los Angeles 3 years ago. 2 women they interviewed were very disappointed on how they were treated by their match makers and the company itself. KABC7 showed how much these women paid Together and showed what they got for their money, absolutely nothing but lies and deceit, compare to the thousands and thousands of dollars that they spent for this service. And when KABC7 tried to interview the owners of Together in Los Angeles they the Crooks, could not be found and I wonder why. Steve a person spends 2-3 hours during the interview for what, we are told it is to find an exact match ( BULL CRAP ). The 6 girls that my Match Maker gave me( which is a joke )all were very disappointed and all were not a true match's for me.

I paid good money 3 years ago to that company for nothing, but it was a wake-up call for me on how people can deceive and abuse Human emotion and that's why they should rot in Hell..

"Together" dating service in San Antonio is Great!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 08, 2006

I can understand that you might have had a case of "buyers remorse" after joining the dating service. I just wanted to let you know that I met my wife Sally through the very office you are complaining about. The office staff was very helpful and truly understood what I was looking for. I know the service is not cheap. I questioned my decision after signing the contract too. I am so glad that I went through with dating. Sally and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversay this year. Maybe you should move forward and meet people through the service. I am sure glad I did!

Respectfully,
Steve

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Johnny, you may have some options

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 01, 2006

I never thought I would respond to any of these but this one hits home. I was taken by these scumbags some 13 years ago and I'm still PO'd about it. THey only nailed me for $1600 and I actually went on a few dates but nothing ever developed.

It seems these days these lowlifes have increased their prices 10 fold and somehow, someway still stay in business. Anyway, here is what you can do.

THe first thing is not the most ethical but then again look at who you're dealing with. If you put it on a credit card you can report it lost but if you get caught... I know of someone who did it with another dating service and it worked.

A more legal approach would be to haul them into small claims court but whatever you do, DO NOT go in and just "give their service a try." This will show diligence on your part to use the services rendered and make it much harder to get your money back.

Chances are their lawyer will always ask for a continuance to frustrate you. You see, since they are a corporation, they can have a lawyer since a legal entity is not a person.

You will more than likely face an unsympathetic judge who is unfamiliar with contract law and will grill you about whether you signed a contract, etc. Just speak truthfully and PLEASE do not interject with opinions. The judge could care less.

Also check with your state to see about the recission period for contracts as they are all different. If you correspond on the phone with them, you might want to tape the calls. If you send them correspondance, always do return receipt requested and save the receipts.

You will need all the documentation to show you were trying in good faith to work with them and tell the judge you would be willing to give reasonable costs for their time. Chances are it is worth far less than the 750 you mentioned.

Keep in mind the battle will be hard and you will need a strong spirit and a little legal advise might not hurt either. The last thing you can do is dispute it with your credit card but I wouldn't put too much faith in that. But you never know.

Good luck and if you can, keep me posted on the outcome.
