Brandon Edwards of Tree-of-Knowledge.net contacted me for an investment of money, and effort to make his dream of a new online education system a reality.  He had me submit to a FBI background check, contacted former and present contracts/employers, and later flew to visit me in Denver from Burbank, CA.

Prior to our meeting in Denbver, but after careful analysis of his idea, I valued the development at approx. $38k to bring the idea and technology to market.  With this figure in mind, I made an offer to invest $33k in time and efforts to make this idea a reality.  With a $5k deposit, and a contract for ownership in the company I would make the entire application a reality inside of 120 days.

After stating this, Brandon Edwards flew to Denver, met with me, and assured me that my time and efforts thus far would be taken care of, and the deposit and agreement / statement of ownership would be in place shortly, and we would begin work.

Brandon Edwards did however ask me to start work, I had a bad feeling about this but began the groundwork and specification mowing that was needed to generate the costing and planning for this application.

A total of 10 hours of time and $40 in fuel was spent accomodating Mr. Edwards.  A total cash value of $790.00 was put forth on Mr. Edward's affirmation of the deal, verbally, and via email chain.

I was told that the business attorney was finalizing the documentation, and all was in order.

A week after our meeting I queried Brandon Edwards as to the status of the agreement and retainer payment to be held in trust.  I mentioned that I have other work that is scheduled after our project and the we need all in place within a weeks time so that I can meet our deadlines and accomplish what it is that I have promised.

I received an email reply that stated Mr. Edwards nor Tree of Knowledge even had the retainer, and had fired their business attorney as he wanted $3000.00 to prepare partnership agreements, and filings to set the corporation in motion.

At this point I emailed Mr. Edwards and stated I wanted nothing to do with this company nor venture, and that I felt lied to, and that my time had been wasted.

I sent Brandon Edwards a paypal request of $299.00 to cover my good faith expenses, well discounted from the time and fuel costs spent.  :(

He refused to pay the costs, and repeatedly stated the term God Bless to me over and over...

I was able and willing to perform my part of this agreement and never mislead anyone.  Mr. Brand Edwards mislead, and mis-represented his company, their economic status, his intentions, and himself...
