In the resession of 2009 i tried to get a job w/ this company. Ive been driving OTR for 14 years,no accidents in the last 3 years.

An one speeding ticket in the last 5 years (10over)2007.Im 70lbs overweight.an i dont meet there qualifications.Years ago i meet a girl on a greyhound buss, she was goin back home, after goin thru USA's orientation. She told me that they turned her away, because of her weight,This girl only looked to be 45lbs overweight.I found it hard to believe that they would turn her down because of her weight.I believe it now.In 2009 the rumer is goin around about companies tryin to regulate a drivers weight. If u get on primes web sight ;on the health resrictions, they have a BMI chart ( body mass index)

You punch in your hight,an weight, then push the button for your #,if it over 30 your obese. Not fair, any one that drives a truck is gonna put on a few pounds. This company should'nt be so picky there the lowest of the low,w/crappy equipment.but it would have been a job.

Really?

Well first off... i am the wife of one of USATruck's trainers. I can honestly say that they dont discriminate against overweight drivers because if they did my husband wouldnt be working for them. He is not extremely over weight maybe 50+lbs but still... i have seen many of their drivers that are bigger then he is.

@ drew.... yes usa is short on trainers, because not a lot of them(drivers) want to risk their lives on a daily basis more so then they already do.  My husband does it and sometimes I wonder! But i hope your experience with USA has gotten better and you were able to get with a trainer.

I wish you all well in the career you have chosen.

Overweight Applicants Make It Through

AUTHOR: Drew Pentor - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, June 03, 2011

I recently attended Orientation with USA Truck.  There were four EXTREEMLY obese applicants there, and more than half were 50+ pounds over.  By the third day three of the four extremely obese applicants were missing, the one remaining being the smallest of that group.  All were OTR experienced drivers.  The four were large enough I don't see how they could do the job.

All week the orientation leader talked about us leaving with our trainer as soon as orientation was over.  By that time very few trainers were available.  Some applicants had to take buses to distant cities to meet the trainer, many were sent home (as was I).  It is one week later and I still have no trainer, and no source of income.

USA Truck knew before orientation there were not enough trainers, and many would have to go home.  Yet we were told to bring enough baggage to go out over the road after.  This caused big problems transporting applicants back and forth to the motel and bus stations that could easily have been avoided.

Motel accommodations at the Travel Lodge were much better than I had expected, and USATr provided more meals than originally promised, although the 'Breakfast' at the terminal was less than continental.  A later stay at the Meadors smelled like the motel had flooded.

Confusion among USATr staff pervaded the 3.5 days of orientation, and extremely inefficient use of the applicants' time to complete all phases of orientation made the whole process roll over to Friday because so many applicants were 'on hold'.

Orientation did not seem like a well-oiled process that goes on every week.  It seemed like it was the first one much of the time.

are you crazy

Brandy lets be serious now. Have you been to the terminals and looked at how many fat drivers there are that work for us. Id be willing to bet over half of the drivers are what you call fat. I don't think you are being completly honest with yourself or others. There had to be some more factors than that. i had a 375 pound man that was a student of mine and he works for us. I think your a little upset because there is something they found out about you?
