We stored our belongings with 'SAM', now United Mayflower Container Services, LLC while we lived with our parents.  Fifteen months later, when we unpacked our belongings, we were devastated to find that our 'Flexsteel' couches, our two most expensive pieces of furniture, were noticably faded from the original color of green to a bright orange.  The damaged fabric covered over 50% of the visible fabric (the cushions (seat and back) and armres)t.   You cannot walk into my living room and not notice the damaged couches.

We had been assured that our "container" would be stored in an indoor warehouse.  However, the faded fabric could only be explained by significant heat exposure (i.e. sunlight).  I contacted several furniture retailers and showed them my couch cushions to have them confirm my beliefs.  United Mayflower said that they were not responsible for our belongings because "they did not pack our container" and "they had no firsthand knowledge of the items or condition of the items that we placed into the container".  I don't argue either of those statements.  However there were additional items that were damaged that are consistant with heat/sun damage.  We had pillowcases that had the same color fading (from brown to gray), tupperware that was melted and no longer usable, warped candles.  I cannot buy their arguement that the container was stored "inside", there is too much evidence that proves otherwise.  Unless by inside they mean a tanning booth.  They did not fulfill their end of the agreement by storing our container outside.  We were ripped off.

We filed a claim with United Mayflower Container Services and it was reviewed by the National Arbitration Forum.  They denied our claim.  I am so very upset that justice was not serviced.  We paided United Mayflower Container Services over $2,000 to store our belongings and are now at a significant loss.  I did not budget to have to replace my couches.  I will never use or recommend that anyone store their belongings with United Mayflower Container Services unless they want to get ripped off.  United Mayflower Container Services is a scam and works in their own interest and does not care about their customers.
