I received an email from Vinesse Wine club to get monthly shipments of 6 bottles of wine from around the world. They had a promotion going with American Airlines.  For signing up with their club, they would give 2000 American Airlines miles after the first month's shipment.  After the second month's shipment, they would give 3000 miles.  After the third shipment, they would give a wine picnic basket.

The first month's shipment of 6 wines would cost only $45 with free shipping.  Any shipment after the first month would cost $90 plus shipping.  I received my first shipment and saw that I indeed receive the 2000 miles as promised.  But my credit card statement showed that I was charged the $45 twice.

I called the company and they  told me that I must have accidentally hit the submit button twice when I joined the club.  I know I did not hit the button twice, and beside that, I only received one shipment of wine, and not another shipment that they say I accidentally ordered.

It seemed like they intentionally double charged me hoping that I wouldn't notice, and never intended on sending me the other shipment that they said I accidentally ordered.  They finally refunded me the money for the extra $45.

When I received the second month's shipment, I saw that my credit card was charged $128.  So it was $90 for the wine and $38 for shipping and tax.  This seemed to be not worth it to me so I called and cancelled my membership.

They never sent the 3000 bonus AA miles that they had promised for the second month's shipment.  I called several times to let them know and even though the representatives were polite and said they would take care of it, they never sent my bonus miles.  Finally someone from Vinesse called AA and told them that they were not going to give me my bonus miles.  A customer service rep called me and knew that I was being cheated by Vinesse so she told me that she would give me the miles complimentary of AA.

I was happy that AA realized that I was cheated by Vinesse and rectified it.

In all, I would not trust Vinesse at all.  It seems like they will try to rip you off and see what they can get away with by overcharging your credit card until you notice and complain and they don't honor any promotional promises they used to get you to join their wine club.

The wines were decent though.

Vinesse rectified the situation today

AUTHOR: Kevin - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 13, 2013

I guess that Vinesse just saw my post about my experience with their company.  They called me today and left a message saying that they have submitted my 3000 bonus miles and they were posted to my account today.

They said that I had not received the bonus miles initially because I had cancelled my membership 2 days after my second shipment arrived and for some reason they could not tell right away that I had ordered and paid for a second shipment.

Anyway, even though the miles were somewhat late and I don't think I would have received them if I had not written a report here and someone from Vinesse had not seen it, they did rectify the situation and I am satisfied.

I am going to try to find a way to take this report down since they did end up honoring their end of the bargain but if I am not able to, I hope this rebuttal by me makes everyone aware that they did end up finally making things right.
