Andrew (Andy) Brahms and his significant other, Rebecca Schechter are con artists.  Andy has his fathe,r mother( who pretends to be a sweet, elderly woman)  and other family members working there, controlling the money, burning  new victims every week. You must call the  US Department of Labor, wage and hour division at (954) 356-6896 and report them.  They have had to cough up checks for victims that were smart enough to call the labor board. They are already in the labor boards database for being dishonest animals that scam victims, hire them, tell them they are going to make all this money selling chemicals, force you to sign a paper that if the samples aren't returned to them they will put a collection account on your credit for over $1,000. and then ask you to fax in your leads every day.  The leads are given to the internal telemarketing division where the profit that is made off of your leads and kept inside the family- owned business.  They place more than twenty employment offers per month on different websites, employ new victims in all states knowing they are never going to pay any of these people.  They should be  exposed and charged with several counts of felony fraud for what they are doing.  Their victims are spread out all over the country.  Pull up ad accounts from Monster.com. They list employment offers with several websites and do not do w-2s at the end of the year so no one can keep track of the amount of people burned.  I knew these people well, they seem very genuine when you first meet them and God has a special place in hell for them because they are dishonest on such a grand scale.  Please do not allow your time and energy to be used by such a horrible family.  If you already did, please call Dep. of Labor because they will make Armchem pay you.  Good luck :)

Poor Communication and Illegal labor practice

AUTHOR: Beth - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, September 12, 2019

I saw these reports weeks after I worked briefly for this company. I do not care if you worked or attend meetings while on business time in the State Of Florida you must be compensated. Shame on Andy Brahms for not doing the right thing at his age. Individuals leave and stay with companies for various reasons and you speak of hearing two sides of a story as I read these past comments from employees of yours.

I mutually released in a professional Manner and I received a letter stating that I would not be compensated as an employee, well I am not dating you sir so why you would feel I should not receive a paycheck is like me saying that the IRS should not like you for stealing employee payroll. Are we clear ?

The fact that these employees are reaching out to the labor board is sad and definitely the iRS should be looking into this company in the near future.

disgruntled person

AUTHOR: Armchem - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

when i read these reports on internet it is disturbing to me.  First of all there are always 2 sides to a story.

To put names that aren't even spelled right shows the person doesn't even know what the truth is.  At least spell the names right.  Armchem is a company that has people sign employment agreements like so many companies.  The person who signs is supposed to read what they sign.  When they don't and they wind up leaving for whatever reason, they want what isn't in the contract.

Armchem has been in business for over 30 years.  We have over 100+ employees in two locations.

Over half the employees have been with company 10-30 years.  Those are the people to question.

Not the ones who were with the company for a few months if that long and write nasty things on the web with no merit at all.

If anyone would ever like to call Armchem and discuss anything negative you read about us in anyway feel free to call and question what you read.

Devious Person

AUTHOR: Armchem - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

As a high up executive with Armchem this particular online report is exactly what a free internet does when there is no substantiation at all.  The fact that someone could even go online and read something from someone who forged signatures on orders, admitted it because the potential customers called and told us they never signed an order.  So if anyone out there wants to believe what you see remember only disgruntled people who do devious things usually write negative things. Armchem has all the proof.

I would be more than happy to give to the right people all the proof they need!

The company doesn't go online to tell of devious people and there devious behavior, but devious people go online to tell tales of what Armchem has done wrong in response to the person doing devious activity.   Armchem has been in business 30 years, has over 100+ people.  Many of them from the beginning.  Speak to those people and find out why they have been with us for 20+ years.

These are Not Ethical People They Have No Conscience

AUTHOR: Screwed By The Brahms - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

I was induced by Armchem to leave a stable home and chase the "dream" (nightmare ) of selling their overpriced and nonperforming chemicals and paper products( priced at twice the price of any other vendor in the marketplace).  After drinking the Armchem Kool Aid for 6 weeks , my marriage dissolved and I was offered a " golden territory" which had been basically destroyed by the previous sales rep.  After moving over 300 miles on promises which were full of lies, then the company which has no CONSCIENCE decided to start stealing from me in the form of reduced draw.  All I can say is do not work for these bloodsuckers under any circumstance.  They will ruin your life.

Working For Armchem

AUTHOR: Melissa S - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 22, 2012

I think it is only fair to set the record straight.  There is a mention of unfair policies and my name being used.  At least the name Rebecca Schechter, my name is Melissa Schechter.  I will mention the obvious, that anyone complaining about a company and its management staff, that so incorrectly states the names of those people who were unfair to them are subject to a bit of well deserved doubt of the credibility of their story.

I can tell you having been associated with this company for over 10 years, that the company does indeed deliver everything that it promises.  Sales positions with Armchem are positions based on draws against commissions.  Which means that if you do not earn enough ( sell enough) to cover your draw, you are not owed anything, in fact you owe the company money.  Armchem chooses under most circumstances to allow unsuccessful sales people to leave without seeking reimbursement for a draw in excess of commissions earned. This is a very  pro salesperson policy and all that understand this basic payment system of draw against commission, understand it that way.

However it appears many people who enter sales, perhaps having never been in sales before are unaware of the term draw.  I would encourage anyone who is seeking employment in sales with Armchem or any other sales organization to understand the terms of the agreements they sign.

I hope this ends the unnecessary bad mouthing of a company that has been in business for 30 years and employs over 120 people and supports these people and their families.  We never wish anyone to leave and certainly not unhappy having spent their time here.  Sales is not for everyone and simply looking in the mirror at performance and skills, may lead anyone who chooses to write here in the future, to perhaps look at themselves first for not doing as well as they should have, before blaming the company.

Armchem experience from one who is NOT lazy!

AUTHOR: nowhere man - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Your positive comments regarding Armchem is typical of those who have been there for a while;but there is a large number of people who have fallen into the trap of lies from Barry Brahms, the main recruiter for them.I was given the typical "song & dance" about the greatness and potential of Armchem, and joined.I worked very hard, and followed all procedures.Out of the blue ,after a few months,I was told by phone to send back the boxes of samples,or risk a $1500 fine.

I was due $1200 for the prior 2 weeks, but sent the samples back to avoid the penalty,as well as it was within my integrity to do so.I was dropped at once, and no one would even discuss my demand to at least be paid for the time served, and the gas used.

These complaints regarding Armchem are real and true. The rebuttals you see are staged to attempt to offset the many complaints of the many victims of their fraud.I have worked in sales for nearly 35 years, much of the time successful.Due to the downsizing of my previous position,I looked for a great opportunity, and was at first sold on the company. After the manner in which they terminated my employment, handled the return of the samples, refused to pay due wages, and ignored any further communication,I decided to look into how wide spead this was.

It is apparent, there are many out there.

Steve

AUTHOR: Steve - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 28, 2012

I worked as an independent contractor for Armchem for close to two years (2009-2011) in the position of recruiting director.

The position was appealing to me because of my familiarity with the job requirements, the difficult economy and the
opportunity to provide jobs to people with the needed set of skills and who were willing to put in the effort.  I have experienced all of the complaints first hand and feel that I am in the best position to fairly discuss issues regarding the Company.

Simply put the job is selling Restroom Supplies, Safety Products and Specialty Chemicals door to door to the myriad of business that use these products.  It is a door to door salesman job that requires constant and daily cold calling, the ability to close a sale and the skill to service the account in order to build customer loyalty and repeat sales.

This is a job that takes a dedicated effort every day.  If a person has the skills and determination a business can be built by keeping to the basics, every day, every week for a number of years.

What business doesnt take a number of years to build?  Historically, most people who enter this type of sales position fail, only a small percentage survive and thrive.  Armchem is well aware of this and after their 20 plus years of recruiting sales people they have established a program that attempts to limit the money they lose in training people, weeding out the candidates that they feel for one reason or another do not have what it takes, while finding the few who do.  It is not a perfect or pleasant process but it works for the Company and for those that embrace the opportunity.  Believe me, there are many salespeople making over 6 figures in the Company.

The new recruits also fail to carefully scrutinize the contract they sign and most fail to read or remember the paragraph stipulating a 90 day period after they leave or are let go before they will receive any monies they are owed.

This ninety day period allows the Company to recover sales samples and materials and to field any customer complaints that may have occurred.

Problems arise when a salesperson leaves for whatever reason and then immediately starts demanding money he or she feels owed prior to the 90 days ending. They sometimes threaten, they sometimes dont return samples, they sometimes have customer complaints and they sometimes write negative blogs.

This gets the Company angry, communication stops and these disagreements remain.  Both sides lose.  Certainly there are cases where the Company is in the wrong, and if approached in a professional way after the 90 days would endeavor to correct the problem.

Common sense tells you however, that a recruit that didnt work out is not a high priority on the Companys to do list and approaching management in a professional way is critical to getting a problem solved.

I have seen complaints about this being a family owned Company and it is.

Personally, I have met all members of the family and I can tell you it is no accident that Armchem is a true success story, it came from a smart group of people working very hard to build something for themselves, their families and their workers.  Certainly there are things that we all see in businesses we get involved with that we feel should be changed, however, that has nothing to do with being a family business.  The Armchem family and its extended family of sales, warehouse, shipping and administration people have earned their success.

The last complaint I will discuss is the one concerning the Companys phone room and the idea that they go through so many sales people in order to capture the accounts for themselves and their phone sales people.  Armchem differentiates itself from the competition through the direct interaction and relationship building of the salesperson on site.  You cannot do this on a phone alone. However, when an outside salesperson leaves the Company is going to cover that account or the potential account with a phone representative until a new or existing salesperson in that area can cover it.

Would you have the Company just let the accounts rot after investing many dollars to acquire it?  It is all about customer service and in recruiting new hires I often had permission to promise them a large number of accounts we had available in their area
once they proved capable and reliable.

After reading this if you feel you have a valid complaint I suggest you call the Company in a civil manner and get it resolved.  If you are looking for a way to build a business and care for your family and you feel like you have what it takes call the Company and inquire about opportunities in your area.  Yes, they are always looking for good people.

GREAT COMPANY

AUTHOR: John C - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 16, 2012

As the Sales Manager and employee of this organization for over 10 years.  I am must strongly disagree with these  negative posts.  Yes this is a tough job and yes many people do not make it.  They are not bad people, but just not able to do a job they thought they could.  This unfortunately, sometimes ends up as anger at the organization and not at themselves.

Armchem is a company of over 130 people, which has been in business for over 30 years, with over 40,000 customers.  A business and reputation like that is not built without ethics and honor and good, hard working people.

We value all of our sales people and we treat them better and pay better than anyone else in this industry, bar none,  We award over 25% of our sales force with full company paid vacations, for them and their spouse.  Daily and weekly incentive, 40,000 SKU to sell all with better than industry commissions to motivate and reward those that work hard and see selling as a profession, not just a way to make a quick buck.

I encourage anyone who wants to find a home and join a company where you will work hard, but will be rewarded if you make the commitment, to join Armchem.  Do not let the disgruntled, uninitiated steer you away from a great company!

ARMCHEM IS A GREAT COMPANY

AUTHOR: Mel Davis - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 16, 2012

I have worked for the company for many years.  This company has been offering fantastic opportunities to those willing to work hard for over 30 years. I am offended when I read nonsense like these posts.  These posts usually come from lazy people who want to get paid for doing nothing and they make all the rest of us, who want to work hard look bad, because they don't pull their weight.

Hard work does pay at Armchem and the 80+ salespeople, many who have been here over 10 years will attest to that.

I love working for this company, there is no other company that I know of that gives people who work hard an opportunity like they do! We get to go after large or small accounts, there are no HOUSE accounts, no territories, no restrictions on lines you can sell.  This is a godsend to anyone that really loves sales and making money.

There is a great group of people supporting us on the inside and out and this is what I have been looking for in my career for a long time.

Thank you to Andy and the crew!
