I went Minute Clinic on 2797 nc highway 55 on 1/19/14 for a DOT physical because no appointments are necessary. After a dipstick I was told by Dawn Willis the nurse practioner that I would fail because I had a Uti. DOT has no such regulations nor do they disqualify a driver because of it.
After many calls to the 800 number I recieved a call from Melissa Watson the District Manager of Operations for Minute Clinic. She informed me that they are stricter than DOT requires and a uti automatically disqualifies me. I informed her that DOT has their own guidelines and she could not change them because she wanted to.
Minute Clinic cannot make the rules for drivers because that is DOT job. She said I could come back in a pay for a DOT physical since by now my UTI should be cleared up with the antibiotics. I have called several times and left messages with her to be sure this is what she is saying. No Response

FYI I am a woman. UTI's are painful and I have no symptoms at all not even a low grade fever. Yeast infections itch not uti's. (Please do some research so that you may have an informed opionion) I came in for a DOT physical and that is what I expected to recieve. I did not come for a minute clinic make their own rules physical.
Taking a strong antibiotic that I dont need is worse for me than having a uti. The side effects alone would put me at more risk and in danger the public more than having it. If they are concerned about my health this is not a wise decision. This is a condition with obvious painful symptoms (hurting to urinate, pain in back, lower abdomen, frequency and burning) not just one that comes at Minute Clinic and is as common as a cold as well as clear itself up.
I have since been retested without taking a single antibiotic and am in good health. My life threating UTI has cleared up. You see some of us are blessed with common sense and dont believe doctors just because they say something is true. They are wrong a lot and it is well documented. They look for people like you that do not think, do their own research and dont know their own bodies; so they can continue to get fat salaries while you ride the bus. Anyone that makes money because I am sick makes me wonder about their authencity. Doctors used to care about your health but now it is just about your money and what you are willing to pay. I was not sick then and am not sick now.
However, I am sure that with the multiple illnesses you have been diagnosed with, you keep their kids in designer clothes and I will keep delivering to Walmart so that you can take care of your family.

Did you EVER think that MAYBE they might be right? They could be working with updated information that you do not have yet. Not trying to defend here just pointing out that there MAY be new information that you dont have and then youre blasting them for doing their job correctly. Im 100% sure they are not doing this to be mean to YOU.
Instead of fighting them about it, clear up the UTI and then go back. Sounds to me that they are looking out for you and EVERY person on the road. A UTI can be VERY distracting not to mention painful. It would be a hell of a tragedy if you still had the UTI and scratched yourself at the worst possible time, causing a fatality.
My question is this......If they are correct, are you going to be man enough to admit YOU WERE WRONG?? And if this place is that strict, why dont you do what ALL drivers do and find a doctor that will rubber stamp your physical? This way you passed on paper.
And I cant believe you whine this hard over a physical that is VERY important for drivers.
