Please don't fall for myfico.com's "Free Credit Score" spiel.  I had filed bankruptcy a couple years ago and lost my home as well to another dishonest entity (hint: Bank of America) and have been trying to rebuild my credit by paying a new car loan perfectly and basically paying everything on time.

So I wanted to check to see if my score has improved and went online and searched "free credit score".  I had once been with myFICO several years ago and did the monthly reports by choice. When I signed up at that time, the site had been recommended by the courses I took as part of my Bankruptcy so I wasn't looking for "free" and just paid the monthly fee - and there are some good tools within the subscription.

Because I have to be careful with my finances, I was definately looking for "free" this time. When I went online today to check my score, I went to www.myfico.com and clicked the "Check Your Fico For Free*" (I didn't notice the teeny tiny asterisk next to free).  Once you click that, it takes you immediately to shopping cart.  There I logged in using my old login and it takes you to a Payment Details page where you have to give credit card, address etc. There is an explanation of the *10-day free trial" (there's that asterisk I didn't notice).  Following that, there is a box and next to it says:  I agree to be billed 10-day from now at $14.95 per month (plus tax, where applicable) if I do not cancel my no obligation 10-day free trial. A three month minimum subscription applies.

So there you go, so much for a "Free" credit score.  At the very least, myfico.com should be forced to correct their internet advertising or sued for false advertising.
