My teenage son went to this jewelry store on 5 occassions and sold some 90% silver quarters that his grandmother had given to us. My son did not check with me about selling them. He is a minor and the store gave him $1300.00, The store did not call his parents or think they should. The lowest value for these quarters in the past year is $3.47 cents each he sold them 1428 of these again the lowest value for these quarters was 3.47 so $3.47 * 1428 = $4955.00 They totally ripped him off took advantage of a kid. Once I found out I went to the store and talked to coowner Richard Poltorak told him the situation ,He agreed to sell me back the quarters my son had sold in the last 10 days I paid $371.00 for 548 quarters. So that was what he paid my son. I called another jewelry store and asked them what will you give me for 548 silver quarters he did the math and said today $2020.00 a far cry from $371.00. My son also admitted selling 1 other bag to Jewels in Rotterdam mall. When I called them they couldn't have been nicer, the owner Matt offered to sell me back the coins for just what he gave my son, which was the fare market value. I went to Regency and talked to the other owner Richard Poltorak. He denied ripping my son off said he gave him a fair price .... My son before the 10 days did sell 2 more bags 880 quarters and recieved about $900.00 dollars He should have recieved. 880 x value $3.47 = $2776.00 and the value was accually much higher when he sold these 2 bags. I offered him a more than generous salution. I tod him subtract what he paid my son ($900.00). fom the fair value ($2776.00) = $1876.00 and take a profit for himself of $500.00 and pay me back $1376.00. The owner kept throwing numbers at me of what he gets for the silver and that it was only slightly higher then what he paid my son. Anyone who knows anything about silver, or math knows what the dis and you can give me numbers all day long and you can talk all you want about it but the fact that another jeweler was willing to pay $2020.00 for what he paid my son $371.00 says it all. I told him if he wasn't going to be reasonable I would call the attorney general and my lawyer. Why would any consumer trust this company with thier precious posessions.

not what really happened

The court found in our favor we won the case they had to pay us. We could not prove how much silver my son sold them because they did not give him receipts and they would not give them to us stating how much silver they bought. We won the case for what amount we could prove.

Regency Jewelers prevails in court vs Roberts

AUTHOR: Regjewel - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 02, 2014

Ripoff report : Regency Jewelers is demanding that this false claim be removed immediatley. We have tried to contact Ripoff report offices via telephone and discovered you have no telephone number to call which seems strange to say the least. We then sent you a fax and an email letter asking that you respond to us and our demand to remove this false allegation and the date of that was 02/25/2014 and you have not responded to that as of today 04/02/2014 and then a week after that we sent Ripoff report a certified letter to your post office box and it is still not been picked up as of today 04/02/2014. Here is a copy of what was faxed, emailed and sent in certified letter to Ripoff report -

Dear Ripoff Report :

Date : 02/25/2014

A customer of mine recently informed me that my business is on your site. The posting is from an individual who was not even a customer of my business. It is completly wrong, inflamatory and sladerous. I can't believe youallow people to post whatever accusations they want without any verification or fact checking. Your site is specifically designed to give people and their businesses a bad name without any way to defend themselves or the accusations. It gives people access to hundreds of thousands of viewers regardless of the facts. It allows false and slanderous accusations about my business to be distriduted to those hundreds of thousands of viewers. Your site name " rip off report" leaves nothing but an immediate negative about my business regardless of the facts to anyone who may view the post. Once again you have no measures in place to check or validate facts or to get to any truth to accusations. I want the post removed from your site immediatly because it is untrue.          That is the end of the letter and was signed and sent as specified above. Regency Jewelers was vindicated in a court ruling as to the allegations of giving a fair value for the items in question and want this posting REMOVED IMMEDIATLY. Let us know how to have this removed. We also are not agreeing to have the state of Arizona be the ONLY jurisdiction to have authority in this matter but it is the only way we can get this rebuttle posted.
