We hired Solid Gold Sound DJ services for our wedding reception, October 10, 2009. The services were paid for in full before the wedding, per their contract. When we arrived to our wedding reception the DJ was not there, and the company was not answering the phone. After 4 calls (mind you this is at our wedding reception, with all of our family and friends waiting around) we finally got through and the person who answered the phone said they that might be able to have someone to our reception by 9 or 9:30 pm. Our wedding reception was to end at 10:30 pm. We turned down their offer. On Monday October 12, 2009 I started negotiating with my attorney and with the company owner, Ron Daniels (I believe). We came to an agreement that they would refund our money in full plus an additional $355.00. They overnighted the checks to us, and one could be deposited immediately and the other had to be deposited after the third of November. Well, the original checks bounced (NSF) and we were charged fees by our bank. When I contacted A Solid Gold Sound, (Jeremy, and Nate) they claimed a company had written them a bad check and so their accounts were frozen. They sent us another check, which bounced as well, and we were again charged fees. I called again, filed a police report, and attempted to prosecute them (easier said then done) and they replaced the check AGAIN. This time we were smart enough not to try to deposit it into our own account and instead tried to cash it at THEIR bank, but go figure, there were no funds available in the account THIRTY DIFFERENT TIMES. Finally, a few months later after the BBB had closed my complaint as unresolved a received a call from another employee of A Solid Gold Sound, Cheryl Smith. She "promised" that she would refund our money in a "good" check this time, and said that we should have known better than to expect their checks to clear. We received ANOTHER check (this is four checks total so far) from A Solid Gold Sound (different banks and account numbers, under the name Amear Inc., not A Solid Gold Sound) and it appears to be good. We are still trying to prosecute them for passing bad checks equalling over $500.00. If we win I will let you know.
