A1 Modern Moving - Michigan Relocation Services moving ripoff missed delivery shoddy packing and unloading refusal to pay insurance claim Livonia Michigan

My complaints against this company defy summarization. The first is misinformation from the driver to me about when the load would be delivered. The driver was supposedly fired (I have no proof that was done) for promising when he would be deliverying the load. The dispatcher (when he returned my calls) made promise after promise, none of which turned out to be true. At times I wondered if he even know where the truck was or who was driving it. The actual delivery date was 10 days late.

The packing job was of extremely poor quality. Examples include pillows shoved between boxes on the truck with no covering at all, computer, keyboard and monitor put in a box with absolutely no packing, glassware and other items put in a box with no packing and then spilling half the load when moving the truck. I've never seen such blatant lack of concern or professional behavior.

I filed a $585 insurance claim for damages at the $0.60/LB rate and they only paid $35, Of my claim for $1000 in costs incurred due to their delay in delivery they paid $100. Their explanation for why they only paid $35 was that I didn't list all the damaged articles on the signed manifest. They ignored the Federal law that states I have nine months to file additional claims.

Their last legal resort to avoid paying any more is complicated. I worked with a moving broker (never again) World Moving Services who arranged for the carrier. When I received the $35 check and complained to World Moving Services I was told in writing that A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation Services was going bankrupt and I should take what I could get from them and sign their check.

Before cashing the check I attempted to verify the bankruptcy claim by calling the phone number of the dispatcher I had been working with to arrange delivery. Whoever answered the phone said that A1 Modern Moving was no longer at that location. That convinced me that if I was to get anything out of them I might as well cash their check quickly.

Signing the check was a mistake as it 'legally' signified my final acceptance of their proposed settlement. I then tried for a month to go back on the moving broker, World Moving Services to collect my claim. Only a month later did I find out from someone else at World Moving Services that A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation had NOT gone bankrupt and that any claims I had must be settled with them. World Moving Services will be the subject of my next filed complaint on ripoffreport.com.

Despite my appeal to fair play and good business practice on their part, A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation Services refused to pay me a single penny more. In fact, they were quite rude and insulting when I explained the situation and asked for some understanding. Due to a miscommunication between them and the moving broker, I was the one left out in the cold with no settlement.

A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation Services used a combination of attempted bullying with their false statement about damage listing and the fact I signed their check due to incorrect information to absolutely refuse to make any amends.

Between their appalling lack of professional expertise in packing and moving, their either deliberate or accidental misinformation about the delivery date and their making no attempts at customer satisfaction A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation Services deserves to be completely blacklisted and ignored by anyone looking for a household mover.

There are also reports of a very similar nature on movingscam so my experience is not unique. In all the moves I've made during my career, many of them international, this is the absolutely worst moving company and moving experience I've ever had.

Avoid using A1 Modern Moving/Michigan Relocation Services at all cost!
