I am writing this report as a warning to those who otherwise may be taken advantage of by this unscrupulous used car dealership. It's true that they do extend credit to people who otherwise may not be eligible through a conventional dealership. They use a device called "on time" it is a starter limiter, and used to ensure payment. I purchased a 1995 pontiac grand am from absolute auto credit just a couple months prior to this posting.

I knew at the time that i was being overcharged because i looked up the value in Kelley Blue Book. I did not mind overpaying because my credit is in disrepair currently. They gave me a 30 day warranty with the vehicle. after around 25 days from the date of purchase, the transmission started leaking profusely. i called, and attempted to schedule a repair. they told me that they were booked, and that they would not be able to do it for a week. when they were finally available to make the repair they informed me that the purchase was made over 30 days ago, 32 to be precise, and that i would be responsible for the repairs. disgusted i took it to a friend of mine to make the repairs at a lower cost to me, and i continued to pay the 280$ per month. Shortly after my transmission was repaired the vehicle sprang an oil leak, i carefully monitored the leak, and frequently added oil.

Next the vehicle began to overheat, i was in a town called plattsburgh a couple hours from home. i paid a mechanic 300$ to attempt to repair the vehicle. He told me that it was the heating core, and he removed it but was not able to install a new one in the time frame that i needed. So i drove it home in the middle of the winter without a heater. I informed Absolute auto creit that my vehicle was again broken down. They offered to fix it, and said that i can make payments on the cost of the repair. After that the breaks went (around 3 months after my purchase) and yet again i shelled out more money for repairs. Just a couple of days ago i drove home from work, i stopped at a pricechopper to buy a money order. I was in the store for less than 5 minutes, when i came out my car would not start at all. everything else in the vehicle worked, but there was not so much as a click. the starter was just completely disconnected. the little box that i type my "on time" code into with each payment normally flashes green.

Absolute auto credit had told me that if for some reason the light stopped flashing, and the car would not start to notify them, and they would fix it. I called them and told them what was going on. they told me that it sounds like the battery. I knew better, i have had a dead battery before. I called my friend who had made the repairs to the transmission, and had him check it out. He met me in the parking lot of price chopper with a diagnostic tool. he checked for all the possible things that it could be and concluded that it was the "on time" starter limiter. I called Absolute auto credit and informed them of this. They told me that they would have it towed, and if it is the on time system that they would make the repairs and pay for the tow. They did not return my calls for 2 days and when they finally did, they told me that it was the ignition switch, and that it is going to cost me another 400$ and change. I have had enough of this company. i paid for the next month in advance. i requested that they return the funds that i have already given them in advance, i told them that i no longer want the car. They have refused to give me a refund. This has been a terrible experience. i feel like a have been completely ripped off, and i will never do business with them again. Hopefully this report will encourage those of you who read it to exercise caution when dealing with this company or companies similar to this.
