I have been using Advanta for over five years and never had a problem. A couple of years ago they stopped use of the card, as they did for every card holder. No problem. I've continued making payments every month, no problem. I pay by check. Last month's payment was due the 16th. It went out the 7th. When I didn't see it go through our account, I called Advanta. On the 19th. They said they had not received the check. I was suspicious as this has never occurred, but figured maybe something went wrong in the mail and did a phone payment. A few days later both payments went through. they charged a $12.00 phone check fee and a $39.00 late fee. when I saw the late fee I called and was able to get the late fee (only) removed. THIS MONTH I sent the check out on the 1st of the month. Here it is the 12th, due the 14th. I called and they again say that they have not received the check.
OK. Now it's obvious thievery. My credit is impeccable. No late payments. Until now. Depending on how I feel dealing with thieves, I will either overnight a fresh payment, completely stop paying altogether, or maybe shower them with check-of-the-day payments.
I will definitely contact the three CC agencies and BBB.

Update-Delivery Confirmation to Advanta Scam Bank
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

As I mentioned in my earlier rebuttal, I did mail my payment that day on Feb. 15, 2011.
It was delivered to Advanta's address on Feb. 17, 2011-TWO DAYS is all it took to get my payment from me to them.
Anxiously waiting to see how long Advanta will withhold posting this payment this time.....

This is the latest scam-delayed posting of payments. Just another scam from the world's scammiest credit card company!
AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Advanta recently changed the address
that we send payments to. Ever since this change took place I have
noticed that payment posting has become slower and s-l-o-o-o-w-e-er.
The new payment processing center is in Hicksville, NY
(Hicksville...perfect for the Advanta scam hicks!)
I mailed
my usual payment on 01-18-2011. I always mail all credit card
payments on the day that I receive the statement or by next day at
the latest. It posted on 02-04-2011, THE DAY BEFORE MY DUE
DATE! Funny thing, the other two bill payments I sent at the same time were received and credited in a timely manner. Hmmm....
I can only assume that the payments are
being stacked aside and posted right before, on, or even after the
due date. This allows Advanta to maximize its interest return. It can start collecting many late fees as it did with
this OP. The law has been changed to make credit card companies send
statements earlier (20 days before the due date) but there is no
protection against slow posting. Advanta has figured this out and is now riding this horse hard.
Advanta
may be trying to ding people's credit ratings in order to jack up their
overall interest rates. Advanta does not give a rat's butt that it
may ruin business owners by doing this. Heck, they tried to ruin us
all with their crappy interest rate hikes to 30+% for no apparent
reason except their GREED. I managed to get an opt-out letter to them
before they got me with that one but now I pay them just above the
scheduled payment and not much more. Let them wait! There is
absolutely nothing to be gained by me by paying them off early.
I
scan all credit card statements and checks into a file on my computer
just before I mail them so that I always know what date they were
mailed. I have a file full of evidence against them with their
ever-slower payment posting.
Start mailing your payments on
the day you receive the statement.
Mail your payments delivery confirmation
requested. (Do not use certified mail as they will claim that no one
who is "authorized" was available for a week or longer to
sign for the payment. You can actually slow down receipt with
certified mail.) With delivery confirmation you will get evidence of
the day the payment was mailed and you can get the confirmation of
the delivery date online and print it out. It is simple and not near as costly as
certified. It is not as costly as the interest rate hike and late fees that Advanta has targeted you to receive, either. Protect yourself.
Once Advanta sees that they are being monitored in
this way, you can bet that your payment processing will speed up. I
got my statement today and this payment and some future ones will be
sent delivery confirmation. Yep, it costs a little bit, but it is a
business expense and cheap insurance against Advanta scams. After a few months I will send some payments regular mail. If payment posting immediately slows down again, I will have them! A few
months evidence of payment posting delays with proof and a lawsuit
can be filed against Advanta.
Just another scam from the
world's scammiest bank! Advanta sucks! And I am watching them....
