This company installed a radon mitigation system in our home months ago. We decided to re-test for radon levels after the mitigation and levels were even higher than when we originally tested. My husband and I both called the company and the manager told us someone would come out and check the system at no charge. ( we would never pay more money since it was supposed to be installed correctly the first time and we pais $950.00).

When they came back, they installed $500.00 worth of upgrades to the system without even asking us or giving us an estimate. The continue to harass us for the $500.00 payment and are having a biling agencys contact us constantly.

Bottom line- This company will install a system and then will rip you off to getyou to come back to install the "much needed" upgrades- without even asking you or giving you an estimate.

After all of this, the radon level in our home is still high. The system they installed is totally defectove or was installed improperly and we don't trust them to come back to fix it. The company is impossible to communicate with becuase they are extremely disorganized as well. Save yourself a headache and go with another company!!

#4 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Same Old Story

AUTHOR: employee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 04, 2012

Look at the other reports where the service manager responds.  It's funny that the service manager is always on vacation when these bad service issues come in.  If you are going to use copy/paste, at least change enough to make it sound believable.  I haven't worked there in some time, but the last I knew Sandra was not the service manager.  She is a relative to one of the owners.

Also, if things are still the same, the service employees haven't even seen a system installed.  They read a couple of manuals and the EPA radon regulations, and after a couple days of training the are selling radon systems as industry "professionals".  When I was there, not one of the people on the phones were certified in radon mitigation.  Please,  use another company and save yourself a ton of headache.  The radon mitigation industry is a "you get what you pay for" world.  I will leave it at that, you can make your own decision.  Good luck.

Do not believe the service manager

All employees that work for this company are deceitful!  There are several hundred complaints agains this company on this web site and the BBB.

http://www.bbb.org/eastern-michigan/Business-Reviews/radon-testing-and-service/air-quality-control-agency-inc-in-lansing-mi-4000956/complaints

Please don't become another one of their victims.  You will just be funding the management staff's vacations (which are more than 1 week a year) and multi-million dollar homes.  By the way, if you DO get ripped off try contacting Kevin Ramsier, Jamey Gelina or the PA office.  And most definitely file a complaint against the BBB (see link above).

Good Luck

Problem Resolved

AUTHOR: Sandra - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 21, 2011

I am the service manager at Air Quality Control.  I was out of town on vacation with my family the week that the customer called so I wasn't available to authorize waiving the charges the day that the technician was dispatched to the job.  As a result, our billing department billed the customer for the work.  After returning from my trip and learning of the situation, I took care of waiving the fees and the matter was closed.

Nobody was "ripped off" in this case.  We handled the problem with the radon system in a timely manner and the customer was not charged for the work.  Unfortunately, when I am away from the office, things can fall through the cracks.  However, any time problems occur (whether in the office or in the field,) I always take care of it in a timely manner.  I work about 70 hours a week and only get one opportunity a year to spend time with my family and take a vacation.  When this is the case, my customers don't get neglected but may have to wait until I return before I can tend to their needs.

We are always disappointed to find out about an unhappy customer and will always do whatever is necessary to satisfy them.  We hope that readers will understand that we are the largest radon company in the U.S. (and have been for over 20 years.)   We work with over 10,000 homeowners per year, so there is bound to be someone who is unhappy with something.  In this case, we feel that we handled the situation appropriately and the customer may have jumped the gun when filing the report.  Unfortunately, you don't always hear about the thousands of raving customers who refer everyone that they know to us for radon mitigation; you only hear about the few who had problems.  We couldn't have stayed in business since 1988 if we were "ripping people off."  If you are considering using our services, we would be happy to provide you with hundreds of references from satisfied customers that you can contact.  Also, you can view testimonials from customers here: http://www.mitigationsystem.com/testimonials.html.  Thank you for allow us to address this issue.

Company Waived Charges

AUTHOR: Lilly1668 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 02, 2011

Air Quality Control decided to waive all charges on our account which we appreciate. They plan to take the "fan upgrade" and re-install the fan that we paid for. We appreciate them doing this for us, but are still not satisfied with the quality of the system. We stillhave high redon levels in our home and plan to re-test in the spring and by then hopefully levels will be down. If the levels are still up, we will have to get a second opinion since we believe that we may still have a defective system.

An issue like this should not take so long to resolve. My husband and I had to send over 2 letters to them when the issue should have been resolved immediately. It took us 3 months to rectify this issue.
