Alaglas came out and installed an inground fiberglass pool at my home. Then it was time for the concrete. The concrete contractor hired by Alaglas did a poor job. The were several bad spots, a couple of low spots where water stands and doesn't drain off the decking, extension to steps is sloped down and is a hazard, joints were not well defined and clean, the edging of the concrete around the pool was poorly done, and there was exposed concrete in the skimmer.

We had additional concrete poured to increase the size of the deck at the shallow end and had an additional deck poured. We paid the contractor for this work and I understand it is not Alaglas' responsibility.

We withheld the final $2000 payment for the concrete decking until the problems were fixed. It turned out that the contractor did not want to do anymore work for Alaglas as they had problems with them in the past. He never invoiced them for the work and told me that he does not intend to do so. He is going to take the loss and move on.

Alaglas had another contractor come out to fix some of the issues. This contractor did a fine job of addressing the joints and cleaning them out. He also did some decent work to the edging around the pool. However, the other problems remain.

Alaglas called me today and asked for the remaining $2000. When I told them that there were still issues that have not been corrected, they told me the warranty for the pool and concrete had been voided due to me paying the first contractor directly and not going through them.

In my opinion, they do not care about the customer and the quality of the product they sell. They care about the money. They hired this contractor and don't care enough to correct all the mistakes he made....not if it will cost them money.

Since the original contractor will not be invoicing Alaglass for the $2000, you would think Alaglas would let me keep it so I can attempt to get the other repairs done. Not so! They want their money.

The salesman told me exactly what I wanted to hear. He even talked me out of going with another pool dealer because the quality of their pools is poor. I shouldn't have listened. Since customer service and a good quality product are important to me, I will never buy another pool from Alaglas.

My wife received a call from the owner of Alaglass today and he seems to be genuinely concerned about the troubles I have had. He indicated that the warranty was still in effect for the pool and he will work to resolve the problems with the concrete decking around the pool. I will post additional comments as to the progress of this work. I'm sure he will address this with the local Alaglas company so other customers won't have to go through this.



The conversation my wife had with him made her feel as though he really cares about the customer and making things right with us and we appreciate him reaching out to us.
