I fly Alaska Air into and out of Seattle several times a year. I was going to let this go but I have noticed others complaining too.

On a return flight out of Seattle I was met with a very rude flight attendant named "Billie". She would not let me put my carry-on under the seat. She insisted that I put it overhead. I never put anything overhead because I'm disabled and cannot lift it over my head without a lot of pain. I told her it always goes under the seat and she said "not on my flight". She said "that is the reason we have checked baggage." She made me lift it overhead anyway.

Next she wouldn't let my sister put her bag overhead. "Billie" grabbed it and moved it to the overhead several rows behind us and said she could just wait until everyone else was off the plane and then she could retrieve it. Another attendent retrieved it and moved it to first class for easier exit.

She must have been having a really bad day because shortly after that she was rude to the young man sitting next to me also. He had placed his ear phones in front of him in the little magazine area. She seemed very angry and almost yelled at the young man to not let the little wire hang out.

Thank goodness she spent the rest of the flight in the rear of the plane. Alaska needs to get rid of people with attitudes. I have always flown Alaska and all of the other attendents are absolute dreams. "Billie" was a first and I hope the last rude person.

There is one contrary person on every flight.

AUTHOR: Marc - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 09, 2006

One person that thinks they are special, just can't go along with the program, can't obey the rules, has to buck the system, argue with the flight attendant and draw attention to themselves. And usually they are the ones that will never fail to mention that they are "disabled" like that excuses their ornery behavior. I wouldn't last two flights as an attendant because I'd throw the d**n bag off the plane, slap someone into their seat, and if they pulled the "I'm disabled" crap I'd make sure they were disabled beyond some bulls*** "work-stress handicap."

The flight attendant was DOING HER JOB.

I agree with Corey

If you were handicapped and could not manage your luggage, why didn't you check said luggage rather than lug it with you all over the airport? There is nothing wrong with the flight attendant putting the other bag "a few rows back." This was likely the closest overhead bin that had space for the bag! And yes, putting your bag "under your seat" is both a safety hazard as well as an uncomfortable situation for the person in front of you. I really don't see what you are complaining about ... what you experienced is common on every flight every day. The only difference is you found a need to question the flight attendant and voice your unwillingness to comply with the FAA regulations when requested.

Gayla, please ignore cory

That is obviously billies' husband (and here we thought she was just an old bitter spinster)! He is used to getting treated rudely by his he-man and thinks that the others of us should take it too. Please report billie and her rude actions to the customer service department IN WRITING not just by phone and request that they follow up with your complaint. I hate it when the flight crew with the coffee cups start acting like they OWN the d**n flight (NOT ON MY FLIGHT YOU WON'T) I would think that her actions violated your rights under the Americans with Disabilites act. You might want to write something about that too in your note. GOOD LUCK to ya and dont let one bad apple spoil what I hope was otherwise a great trip!

Dear Cory

Cory, Cory, Cory,
You obviously don't fly much or you would have known that carry-on luggage goes under the seat in front of the passenger not under them. No way could your space for you feet be violated by someone elses luggage.

Also, the piece in question was not by any means oversize. In fact it measures 14"x7"x8". Since it was a window seat you would never have been in any danger of tripping over it.

The flight attendant named Billie is to be commended for doing her job. Remind me not to sit next to any "person" named sally if I ever fly on any aircraft. That way I won't have to worry about tripping over her bloated bag, under the seat, where it doesn't belong, if I have to exit the aircraft, in a hurry, in an emergency. Same goes for those wires. And how do you almost yell? Another thing. I totally agree with putting that crap in the overhead bins. Why do you think they are there? For ballast? If the bag is under the seat, I can't put my feet under the seat in front of me. Didn't think about the person behind you, did you sally? Check the FAA regs.
