American Freight Decatur Illinois Bought Mattress from shady outfit Decatur Illinois

Went in Friday evening and bought a mattress and box springs.  We weren't expecting much by price.  You get what you pay for.  The mattress is for our 6 year old.  Circular advertisement said Same Day Delivery on all mattresses in stock.  We were advised by the salesman, Steve, that the mattress was in stock and would be delivered the next day.  Saturday came and went, no mattress.  I had called the store and inquired and spoke directly to Steve, he said delivery was backed up and apologized profusely.  Let me note also, that when I was purchasing the mattress Friday evening, the phone kept ringing at the store's counter and Steve kept picking it up and apologizing to disgruntled customers who had not received their merchandise.  Sunday rolls around and I call Steve, who begins apologizing.  I took a hard line and said if my mattress is not here today, I will come to their store with police and report a theft.  Steve guarantees personal delivery of my mattress, and comes through about a half hour later.  I am happy with Steve's performance.  After reading so many horror stories about this company on this page, I was happy to deal with a guy who kept his word.  Kudos to Steve, but I fear that there were other people who may not have had Steve as their salesman and do not receive their furniture in such a timely manner.  I probably won't deal with this company again, because they are shady.  I advised Steve that he would probably be better off finding employment with a more reputable company.  Nice guy, crap company as far as I can tell.  They do not worry about keeping their advertised Same Day Delivery, and apparently leave it up to their sales staff to pacify angry customers, which I understand there to be quite a few of.
