American Income Life ripoff Unscrupulous fraudulent recruitment practices Waco Texas

It has been over a year since I terminated my employment with American Income Life, and I am still recovering from the financial set-backs.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of this unscrupulous company, PLEASE read this report in its entirety and respond accordingly.

As an ambitious young man, with a proven tract record in sales, I eagerly responded to the job posting I found on the internet for American Income Life. They promised 8-10 pre-set appointments daily, an opportunity to learn a new field of sales, and first-year earnings in excess of 50k.

If anyone has ever been in sales, they know the value of "pre-set" appointments versus leads. I set an appointment for an interview, put on my best tie, and was offered the job that day.

I spent two weeks studying for the exam, passed the insurance licensing exam the first try, and paid to get a license in both states (since I live in a border city). My ambition, and the promises that were made to me by American Income Life had taken me this far.

I proceeded to purchase a new car, since this was a traveling job and I needed good transportation. Prior to this, I had never financed a vehicle and never would have, if it had not been for the hopes of a successful sales career with AIL. They assured me that I would be able to have my car paid off in a year or so.

After completing my licensing, learning the pitch, and riding with a more experienced agent for a week or so, I was ready to be out on my own. At first, I had great success. The potential clients that I visited seemed to be in need of insurance, and my closing ratio was about one in five. My energy for sales, determination, and hard work was paying off.

However, I began to question whether these "pre-set" appointments were actually appointments or really just leads. I began to have less and less success with the leads they were handing me, and therefore started to receive $50 paychecks for two weeks worth of work.

These pre-set appointments started to become less and less valid as time went on. I went to people's homes that said "we just saw this presentation two weeks ago and told them we were not interested!" Others said they were contacted by the marketing department and told them explicitly that they were not interested. On at least two occasions, I went to the home of someone who was deceased.

Now the obvious question is; how in the heck can these be "pre-set" appointments if these scenarios keep happening? As time went on, this happened more and more until I finally had to quit because I was out of money and incurring more and more debt.

In retrospect, I have concluded that the managers, who controlled the leads, would give a new agent plenty of hot ones to start out with. Leads that were local, and fresh, and possibly actually appointments. But as time went on, and they had used them to establish a number of policies, they would give them old dead leads from the database.

Keep in mind, most of these days were spent driving hundreds of miles away from home, to totally obsolete locales, fighting off dogs and doors slammed in the face, for what I was supposed to believe was pre-set appointments.

As my production decreased, I brought it to the attention of management that I was doing nothing different than I had been doing before. I told them that the quality of leads had drastically changed. (at the same time, new agents were coming in with mysteriously great success)They assured me over and over that it was a matter of my perception and attitude, and that there was no such thing as a 'bad lead'. (manipulation)

It came to my understanding that the managers and general agents could care less if an agent succeeded or failed. Even if they only lasted a month or two, the managing agents still benefitted because the residuals would dump into their accounts year after year after year, with no loss to them, except recruiting another ambitious, trusting person.

So, after finding this website, I discovered that many many others had been taken advantage of and deceived in the same way that I had. Even during the months that I worked for AIL, I saw dozens of agents come and go. The managing agents had no genuine concern for their personal well-being or success; only to the extent that they could squeeze a little blood out of them for as long as they could hang on.

So a few at the "top" were and still are getting filthy rich off the steady flow of applicants that they deceive with their fraudulent job postings.

When I finally left AIL, I was completely broke, had put tens of thousands of miles on my car, had ran up a lot more debt than I had ever intended, and was completely frustrated and disallusioned. As a matter of fact, when I filed my taxes for that year, I actually recorded a loss!!

Not the results you would expect from a company that promised 50k annually and 8-10 pre-set appointments daily.

My response to this... I'm pi**ed and ready to take action against these dishonest thieves. So I am planning to pursue litigation against American Income Life.

The basic requiremnts for filing a class action lawsuit are:

1) Numerosity: Are there enough people affected by the illegal practice to warrant a class action? YES! 2) Commonality: Do the affected people share common legal issues? YES!! 3) Typicality: Are the claims of the person(s) bringing the suit typical of those of the entire class? YES!! 4) Adequacy of Representation: Will the law firm bringing the case be willing and able to represent the interests of the entire class? YES!!

It is my personal belief that there are hundreds, if not thousands of people who have had a similar experience with American Income Life.

I urge you to contact me through this website if you are interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. IT CAN BE WON, and we can be compensated for the unscrupulous practices of this twisted company.

You saved my bacon

AUTHOR: Rob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 25, 2006

Oh dear lord. I was offered the same position at the same branch. 960 Missouri Street in Jefforsonville, IN. I was supposed to have an interview tommorow morning. I decided to make a post to my friends on another site to wish me luck. One of them told me about how bad they are and about this site. You people saved my bacon. No way would I work on commission alone.

This thread most of all convinced me not to go. I do think it was a bad idea to buy a new car. But what struck me most was 80 hours of work and only making $50.

Frankly I think I'm worth more.

I have been with this company for a year and have NEVER had a problem. They told me up front what it was going to take and no one lied to me. You had PRESETS GIVEN TO YOU? You should count yourself lucky. If you didn't like what was HANDED to you, then you should have gotten off your lazy butt and made some calls yourself. I set my own and do just fine. I have never been offered presets.

You are on a 90 day trial period when you start so WHY would you buy a brand new car before you gave it a whirl and made sure you could be successful at it? Sounds to me like you suffer from "self fulfilling prophecy". If you don't know what that is (and I doubt you do) then you need to look it up.

Stop crying and quit looking for a hand out. This job pays you according to what you are worth not what the job is worth, so if you only made 50 dollars in 2 weeks, then that speaks volumes about how hard you really worked.

Question

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 17, 2006

Mark in Missouri, and Bob in Atlanta, is United American owned by the same company that owns American Income? I thought I read it on one of these posts somewhere. If so, I have an interview to check out United American on Mon the 19th. I have never worked for or heard about either of these companies, but it does give me ammo when I visit them and keeps me on the defensive.

Thanks,

-Dave, Fl

True..true..TRUE!!

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 11, 2006

I worked for AIL back in 1994 in Louisiana and am surprised at how many complaints this one company has against them. I worked for this SGA for a little over a year, was the top producer and barely made 50k that year. I worked 6 days a week, drove over 45,000 miles per year; got home close to 11:00 every night!!!!!

The leads were bogus then as they probably are now. Union? We start a fictious union and force the employees to pay into it so that we can sucker other union members into buying Whole life policies and term life insurance!!! (consequently you can get far better coverage and lower prices at hundreds of other A+ rated insureance companies)

I know, I'm making this job sound awesome...Left the company sometime in 1995..Got no residuals, BUT my SGA kept all the residuals and claimed that I had received this money to the IRS. Yes, I got audited because AIL decided that once a person leaves, he looses all his residuals, but needs to pay the taxes on the money that he never received.

AIL CEO and founder from Waco Texas (Bernard R.) once climed in front of us in 1994 that BILL CLINTON had called him that night and denied anything about everything. He was an innocent man being hounded by evil politicians. Bernard had the audicity to ask us to believe this TURD of a President!!

In closing, I now sit in a comfortable position within a international company heading up the international operations. I have come a long way in life and still have the bitter memories of those lying cheating ^%^%$$##kers in Waco Texas!!!!

Sue the pants off the company!!!!

thanks

Bob
