I signed up for a 9-months contract with amigo energy which came into effect on 17th February 2009 and was supposed to end by November 3rd 2009.One condition for the contract is that they are physically present to take meter readings.I am on a fixed monthly charge of 14.2 cents per unit (KWH) of energy.I live alone in my apartment which is a small sized one bedroom and sitting room, fitted with 5 elctric bulbs, one television set and a refrigerator only.I work full time and also school full time making it hard for me to stay home for up to 8hours daily.

My first electricity bill in the month of February saw me paying for 350KWH (this is unsually high), of which made a one time payment of $79.15(includes fixed monthly and advanced meter /ESI charges). The following month (2/26/09 t03/30/09) saw me getting 1165KWH (total cost 173.06).I called the company to make complaints, and also went to invite my leasing office to come screen my meter to make sure nobody was feeding off me.The screening shows that my apartment was OK.I proceded to make a one time payment (via bank money order to amigo energy) for $90.

The next bill (3/30/09 to 4/29/09) came in still high and i made another one time part before i was served a disconnection notice for $200.94 dollars(believed to be my backlog of debts).I called Amigo energy on 5/27/09 and spoke with a customer representative, and told her i was terminating my contract with them. She made me pay(over the phone)l a one time payment of 200.94 -which i paid then and there ( still over the phone) I asked to make another 150 dollars payment as a result of my early termination of which she told me her company(amigo energy) had waived off that fee, and that i should expect another bill in the mail for periods spanning the month May till her company finally effects the termination(3days interval). My next bill came up and surprisingly I was been charged 349KWH for a period of 31days( Units now too low for me to accept) and added to that was $150 early termination and another bill for the period of (3/30/09 to 4/29/09) which was supposed to have been paid previously.I have called the supervisor a number of times to complain that there might be a mistake in their bills but he wouldn't accept it.My curiousity has now led me, as a result of his actions, to demand a detailed reading from Texas ONCOR showing my consumption details all thru the months.I toldhim wanted clarity on this bill before making any payments but the supervisor who hung up on me on three occassions now says I had up to last weekend to make payments or have my credit score which stands at over 730 damaged.I am eager to press charges against this company for fraud , especially when my new electricity provider (at rate of 14.2 cents per unit) has never read anything close to 300KWH on same apartment-despite the hot summer conditions where am tempted use air-conditioner.
