DO NOT GO TO ANTELOPE VALLEY NISSAN BEWARE!!!

I bought a car from Antelope Valley Nissan.  A 2009 Nissan Sentra.  Right after the warranty ran out at 60,000 miles I developed a knock in my engine. I brought it in to AVN and the service advisor, Lynda Jones told me that I needed a new engine. That there were metal pieces in my oil and it didnt look good. I appealed to there better nature and told them that since I had done all of the required service maintenance and oil changes and the engine went bad doesnt it seem like the engine was defective and what could they do for me.  She said that it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. Since it was still basically a new car and I owed still on it I decided to replace the engine.

Well, zip ahead 3 months and I started to feel a drifting feeling when I was driving on the freeway. It seemed as I would lose control of the vehicle for a split second and then it would be okay. I took it back to AVN and told them of the problem with the drifting.  Lynda Jones said to pay them $110.00 to look at it and that would go toward any repairs. I did and they called me later to inform me that my car was ready to be picked up.  I asked her what did they do to fix the problem and they said it needed a wheel alignment. Not knowing much about these things I paid for it and drove off in my supposedly fixed car.

When I got back on the freeway I noticed the drifting feeling again. This was supposed to be fixed!!  I thought maybe it was my tires that had more then 90,000 miles on it so I shopped around for new tires and eventually went to Costco to purchase new tires.  This seemed to correct the problem for a while but then it started again and this time it also had a grinding sound when I turned my steering wheel at a stop.  Worried that it might get worse and I would lose my steering,

I went to my personal mechanic to check it out. Something, in retrospect, I should have done in the beginning instead of relying on AVN to take care of it.  My mechanic drove the car around the block and when he got back he told me that the drifting feeling and the grinding sound were from the same problem.  He then asked me if I had any major work done to the engine. I told him about the engine replacement that AVN did.  He told me that they didnt tighten the steering column enough and it was loose. He said he could do it, that it was a matter of tightening a few bolts, but that I should take it into AVN since they did the initial repair.  I agreed and took the car back to AVN.

When I explained the situation to the service advisor, Lynda Jones, she wasnt interested and told me that the loose steering column had nothing to do with the engine replacement and that it was something that happens to cars eventually.  I told her that this was not the case and that my mechanic said that this happened during the engine replacement.  She responded by telling me that I had to pay 110.00 to look at it and that would go toward the repairs.  By this time I was fed up with there bull***t and told them forget it, to put it mildly, and I would go elsewhere to fix it.  I would go some place where they would not try to cheat me out of my money. I told them that this would not be the last they heard from me.

I took it back to my mechanic and told him what happened at AVN and he couldnt believe it. He fixed the problem in 10 minutes and didnt charge me a dime.

This is the kind of service you would expect from a Nissan dealer that you have had a history with. This kind of situation probably is on going at AVN and I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of people have been bilked by them.

In complete frustration for having no recourse to correct such behavior on the part of AVN, I am contacting the better business bureau and  a lawyer to see if we can sue them and bring this to light for not just me but for all the other people that Im sure have had similar situations with AVN.  Anybody that has had problems with AVN or Lynda Jones, please send me an e-mail about what the problem was and with enough complaints, I can hopefully put these shysters out of business.

Thank You,
A Dissatisfied Nissan Owner
