Archer is a company run by Bill Archer who manages co-op buildings in Westchester County, NY, by intending to control the behavior of the co-op shareholders.Archer has poor communication skills, both verbal and written.     Neither Archer nor his staff reads and becomes familiar with the individual proprietary leases and by-laws of their assigned co-op buildings.Thus, Archer does not know the rules and by-laws of each building, but he challenges shareholders when they indicate a contrary opinion and can support it with the rules or by-laws.He doesn't understand who pays his salary-the shareholders, who can fire him.     Archer's repair and management record is poor to average.He promised 3 bids for each repair project, but in 3 months, there were never 3 bids for any project.Archer explained the lack of bidding by calling each project an "emergency".Beware of that excuse.Everything is not an emergency.     He was hired in Sept. 2011 and had not provided monthly financial reports by December 2011.He fought the distribution of the monthly financials to shareholders, forcing resort to the co-op lawyer who had to educate Archer about the lease and by-laws and then charged the co-op for the lawyer's services.All because Archer did not read or understand the shareholders' rights.   Archer said he knew how to get rid of a poorly performing building superintendent, but despite several violations witnessed by shareholders and reported to Archer, he had not advised the board of filing any reports with the appropriate union.It is unknown that he ever filed any report with the union.He tries hard to get your account and promises the moon, but the interaction and results leave everything to be desired.Avoid him and his company.

Just another stupid comment coming from one of Archer's henchmen.  Probably written by one his employees, I would guess with a high degree of certainty.

 Sorry to inform you, Mr. Archer, but I did not write the above critique of your company.  It was another shareholder at the Gentry Co-op. 

I do share in these views and have written to your other co-op board members about the great disappointment your firm brought to my co-op.  I also want to point out that the reason you "resigned" is that you saw the handwriting on the wall.

I cannot believe the vile criticism I just read by a Mr. Stern with regard to Archer Property Management.  I would like to state my experiences with Archer Management; In short I reside, and am on the Board of a Condo managed by Archer Property Management.

We have the pleasure of being managed by William Archer for the past 10 years.  Mr. Archer's professionalism, experience, and insight have brought our Building forward through the toughest of times.

The ranting and accusations are more basic Board decisions, not management.   He went on about the Superintendent, whom I might add is still employed by the Gentry Tenants Crop.

The Gentlemen, whom has written all this bad press, sent every Board member his letter of criticism and slander. 

It is evident his purpose in life is to ruin the reputation of William Archer and company.

The three reports written in my view are by the same person known as Alan Stern.  His comments are incorrect and unfounded.  Mr. Stern was the Treasurer of the Gentry Cooperative in Tuckahoe, N.Y.  The Coop is well known to be troubled and has retained every Management Co. in Westchester.  They now have a company based in Manhattan.  Mr. Stern was the Treasurer and hired Archer Management on September 10, 2011.  Mr. Stern "quit" the Board on November 3, 2011 because he lacked the ability to to take criticism from his peers and other Board Members.  He was angry and vocal over the fact that the resident Superintendent should be fired.  It should be noted that the Super is a union superintendent for over 30 years.  Archer Management worked well with the Superintendent who followed managements direction.  This infuriated Mr. Stern who asked the Board to forgive and reinstate him but they did not allow him back on.  All bids obtained were solicited by at least 3 vendors but he would not be aware of this as he was not on the Board.  I advised the Board that I could get them all the bids they wanted but would not suggest they proceed until they got a handle on their finances.  On July 23, 2012 I sent in my letter of resignation as the Board was more interested in the "in fighting" then they were about their Cooperative Community.  Mr. Stern took my list of Board Presidents and wrote a letter to each of them with similiar slanderous allegations.  All of my Boards stated they felt bad that anyone could have such hate in their heart, then threw out his letters.  In seeking legal advice about the slander written I learned that his actions must result in my loosing an account, but my company continues to grow.
