My work computer had been frozen for a day or so. I found ASAP Computer Services through a SWBY pages ad. I called and scheduled an appointment and Courtney Pelzel, owner, came to my office that morning. I told him what was wrong with my computer and he asked me if wiping it out was a problem if needed to get to that point. I told him no since I had saved everything on disc. He went through the computer and found that my anti virus protection had caused the problem. He first installed another anti-virus and then tried to uninstall the original one and it was taking a while. He charges $85.00 for the first hour and since I was paying for the repair myself, I let him know he only had a short period of time to get the work done. After an hour and a couple of minutes over, Courtney to the front of the building where I was waiting for him and told me he had fixed the system and that with the alloted time he could not get the original anti-virus software to completely delete. The other anti-virus he had installed was a freebie and it was not able to install updates because of the first anti-viruse software, which meant my protection was not 100%.

Approximately 30 minutes after Courtney leaves, my computer froze again and I called my uncle who lives in Mesquite, Texas who has done computers for over 20 yrs. (I should have called him in the first place.) After explaining the situation to him, he said the tech who worked on my computer was an idiot. He should have uninstalled the first anti-virus protection before installing the second because the firewall from the first one kept the second one from being able to do its job. (That's how money is made when charging by the hour.) So, my uncle said the only thing to do was to purge the system, reformat and reinstall everything which is what I did.

I emailed the owner of the company and let him know what happened and his response was he would give me an hour credit because the computer was going to crash again. Bullcrap! I told him I didn't want the credit and if anything happened again I wouldn't be calling him. He took my check straight to the bank and cashed it. Haven't heard anything since. I will never use him again and I mailed all of his business cards back to him.

Handling removal of antivirus

AUTHOR: Dinkledorfer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 16, 2013

I have at times, had the issue (especially with Norton) of not being able to fully remove their programs. If you go online and search, you will find "removers" for most virus programs free for download and they work quite nicely.

Computer Repair San Antonio TX

AUTHOR: Courtney pelzel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 07, 2011

Sometimes in the process of repairing a computer we run in to customers whose budgets do not necessarily cover the computer repairs they need.  We make every attempt to fix our customers computers correctly, and computer repair is all we do.  When we "try" a cheaper fix for a customers computer all we ask is they understand what we are doing and work with us.

If all that was needed was to uninstall the "first" antivirus and then install the second, why didn't her Uncle do that very thing? As an expert it sure sounds like someone was talking out of their a*s here.

Satisfied!

AUTHOR: Deanna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 10, 2008

I finally got an email from Courtney Pelzel, owner of ASAP Computer Services last night. He said that because I had not told him Iwanted a refund, he made a suggestion that he would give me the hour credit for any future work on the compter and that I should not have gotten mad because I was the one who did not specify what I was wanting. KOOL! He said if I wanted a refund he would give me one. So what I will be proposing is a refund for half the amount. He did find out what the problem was which was half the battle. So, I am totally satisfied with the outcome of events.
