I had an account with Aspire Card with good standing credit making my payments on time every month & getting credit increase paying it off all the time then they gave me a credit increase & decided that they wanted to close the account so I called them they sid Aspire was no more that everyone's account got closed well that was in 2008 & they continue to charge me monthly mantenance fees & interest charges which I have written them alot of times & told them about it they said they have that right to charge me that..Well they were always calling my house & the customer service rep's were always rude so I finally have to where they are no longer allowed to call me due to their harrasment..I feel it is illegal that this company is doing this to people & ripping them off like that something needs to be done with them is there anyone else out there with the same issues I am having...I should have this paid off already but due to them charging me all the time I can't get it paid off...It is just frustrating to say the least...

You borrowed the money

They granted you a line of credit...they didn't force you to use the card.
They granted you Credit Line increases..they did not force you to continue to charge items.
They require a minimum monthly payment..they don't forbid you from paying more.

They have closed your card to new charges, but until your balance is paid off you are still subject to the terms until it is paid off.  This means that they are allowed to continue to charge interest and fees.  This also means that if you are ever late they can even charge you late payment fees.  Oh and yes you agreed to this when you got the card.

I can't get it paid off.
- Sure you can..you just have to WANT to pay it off.  If you are paying only the minimum, I wouldn't be surprised if your balance isn't going down by more than a few dollars every month.  If this has been going on for 4 years, just imagine how much lower your balance would be(or perhaps even paid off), by paying just an extra $10 a month.  What if you paid $20 extra a month?   How about $25 extra a month?  Don't forget that you not only have just the reduction in principal but because your balance is lower, you are also paying less interest.
