Becca are you a debt collector or just plain stupid?

AUTHOR: Isisrose - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Becca, I have to agree you are probably a debt collector for a JDB no less or just plain stupid.  Did you not fail to see that the OP NEVER had an account with the stated OC?  That is incredibly important.  Only a total moron would pay a debt they DID not owe.  I do agree you should pay a debt that you owe but NEVER one you do not.  Bottom feeders like Asset (do you work for these scum bags btw?) consistently buy junk debt that is either SOL or NOT valid.  They fail to validate it when asked and then violate the FDCPA and even fraud Uncle Sam with phony 1099-c after failing to prove the debt is valid.  I speak from personal experience.  Have filed and won several complaints against this company and am currently reporting them to the IRS for tax fraud.  I hope these bottom  feeders have fun explaining themselves to Uncle Sam who btw can put them behind bars.

"Becca"...STOP giving BAD advice!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 14, 2008

"Becca",

You are obviously a debt collector, or have been one.
Pay a 30 year old debt? FOR WHAT REASON???

There is absolutely NO benefit to the OP to pay this debt.
There is absolutely NO benefit to the OC, as this Payment would NOT go to them.

A "debt" this old has been off the credit report for about 23 years and has been DEAD. Therefore, there is nothing to report, and no reason to pay.

That's right..That "debt" is NOT owed.
Being past statute of limitations means LEGALLY UNCOLLECTABLE.
Being LEGALLY UNCOLLECTABLE means it is NOT "owed".

You only owe something if the law says you do.
Get some education and a grasp on reality.

Solution to your problem
As i know the collection industry well i would like to inform you that no matter how old the debt is when you made the obligation you agreed to pay for the debt. I know it has been many years but its still your moral responsibility to pay for this. Although after your stated legal statute of limitations you cannot be sued for it you do still owe it. I have worked with this company for debt of my own and have learned that if you tell them what you can pay they will work with you and i know they did with me which allowed me to be able to get approved for my new home. I had a debt of 5822 and i got them to take off 25% of the debt and then let me make monthly payments which was very nice, and as soon as you set up any form of payment arrangement they will report it to your credit report as paid and zero balance even if its not all paid....just something to think about
