I was going into a popular electronic store here in Sacramento when 2 gentlemen approached my stating they had some extra speakers from a job and they were on their lunch break and wanted to sell them. After haggling and such I ended up purchasing 2 tower audiofile speakers and a surround sound satellite speaker set for around $250.00. Knowing that it may be a scam I did it anyway. Luckily, my work was 1 minute away where I quickly looked up the prices and found this website stating the scam.

After finding out this information, I went back to beat at least one of them for the hell of it (most low end speakers are a couple hundred bucks anyway). Here is what I found and is the complete scam:

I entered the parking lot looking for them and notices a peculiar small Honda like car with a gentleman sitting in it to the side of the lot facing traffic entering the lot. when I went up and down the isle he honked his horn a couple different ways and then started taking off. It sounded suspicious and when he did it, a white van took off out of the lot. Both cars proceeded down the street, I followed and wrote down the license plate of the van. I gave up the crazy notion after a mile and went about my business.

Driving down the road a couple miles away, I decided to go to another popular high end strip mall (where if I was selling stuff, I would go to). Not seeing the 2 young men I gave up but as soon as I did, the same white van pulled up in front of me with the same 2 gentlemen from the other shopping center. I verified the license plate. Now I called the cops. After sitting
and waiting for them I followed them around the lot where they met up with a Black GMC suburban at a gas station. Some exchanges of words and such were made and they were all off again. I followed the suburban to a nearby town where I believe they met up with the same 2 young gentlemen from the morning. Still the police did not arrive until 45 minutes later after going to a different town.

Anyway, I'm not here to slam cops and such but I believe I got a little further then some of the people who were scammed. They are traveling together as a pack. They will have a watch out vehicle which will look for polices entering while the sales are made. One person will sell and the other will stay in the car monitoring a cell phone. They will leave then meet up. The black suburban seems to be the ring leaders meeting with the sales team. I have the license plates for the initial silver suburban, the white mini van and the black suburban. I believe the runners are changing their plates as you can read here in these forums but I believe the black suburban would be legit. why, cause that's what I would do. Why should they Rick anything when they'
re not making the sales but just collecting. Anyway, lets see what Sac PD , woodland PD and the highway patrol will do with this info.

The last thing noted was that 2 of the 3 places that were stalked, were Wal-Mart's and Home Depots. I don't know if that means anything.
