I received a call from a company called Benefits Plus saying that I was pre-approved for a credit card with a credit limit of $3000 with a low interest rate. I was told that this card would help my credit and that there would be a one-time processing fee of $299.95. I agreed to this and agreed upon a draft date of November 10th for them to debit my checking account. I was told I had up until 2 days of the draft date to cancel.

Upon another call to them at 866-849-#### (florida office), I was told that it was not a credit card that I was to receive, but a credit service. At this point I told them that I wanted to cancel, this was on November 7th at 9:30 am. I was given a cancel # and everything.

On November 14th they took the $299.95 out of my account, anyway. It was done through a check # that they made up. I called them immediately and they told me that I had cancelled on time and that the money should not have been taken out of my account. They told me to fax them a copy of my bank statement showing the withdrawal, which I did. I get a call back from them like 20 minutes later. The women tells me that it was handled by their New jersey ofice and that I was to call them at 888-863-####.

Upon calling them I was told that I cancelled too late and that they received my cancel notice on November 12th. I told them that I had cancelled on November 7th. They didnt believe me and got very nasty. I was told that I had to write a letter requesting cancellation and my reason for cancellation, which I sent right away. I called them about 10 days later and was told that my request was denied and the reason being because I cancelled too late.

I called the Florida office back and again they told me that I called on November 7th at 9:30 and that they sent the info over to the New Jersey office at 11:40 am. But that there is nothing they could do because the matter was in the hands of the New Jersey office. I have been going back and forth with them over the past 2 weeks. I asked to speak to the person who makes the decisions on refunds, and was told that he doesn't handle phone calls that I had to write another letter. I have since written them another letter requesting my refund.
