Best Family Moving and Storage Jeff Gallagher This company does not follow VA Storage and Moving Laws Norfolk Virginia

 There should be a zero on this. Not only does Jeff Gallagher not follow the Virginia Storage Law but he extorts money from his customers. I contacted them on the 10th and they came out on the 15th. I was quoted 500.00. I explained that I lived in the Cosmopolitan and on the 13th floor. That was still the quote. The guys showed up at 12 and I not only told them I wanted all the things in my business office, run a bookkeeping service and both bedrooms, the living room table and all my electronic equipment and a small storage. It was not that much. The majority of the things were still being paid on. I gave them a sofa, all the liquor open and unopened. Okay it took them 6 hours to move my things. Then before they were even finished and I went to check on the apartment and it was ready, I went to get a storage right down the street from the house and told these guys. My mother and I waited at the storage (the storage company can and did confirm) and they took over an hour to show even after I called Jeff and left messages. They started unloading my stuff and then stopped and said that they need to get paid the rest and they said it would be more which is not 500 but over 1000. I only had a 1000 so they stopped moving the things in and then called Jeff and said they would be storing my things until I could pay and did not give me a receipt for the things they took. Then they also charge me 150 storage fee and a 200 off load. I did not have it at the time. I will be honest and I have to admit I was wrong in not paying on time but to sell clients belongings and not properly notifying them through mail and proper legal channels is wrong. I contacted him and asked when and where did he do this he refused to answer VIOLATION, he was also suppose to notify me a inventory list of all the items he was to auction VIOLATION. I am self employed and a lot of my business things were there including vital files with personal information. The total of all items in the storage was over 5k. And that also is a violation especially when there is still items that are being paid for. In order to auction he must go to court and get the order to auction and again contact the tenant none of which he did. This in itself proves he should not be in business. I hope that taking this through the proper legal channels will get me some relief and hopefully get his business closed. I can not honestly believe that people even choose this unethical man considering he has two listings on this website full complaints including previous employees. Advice to others please check the National Rip Off Report listing, and the Federal Complaint line. I found out after filing with them he has several other complaints like this one. This man makes it bad for all other moving companies in the Hampton Roads Area. Another note is notice when he receives 5 stars they are on the same day. That shows you that someone is pushing his star rating up (probably the girl in his office who is also unprofessional). When I went to his office to get a copy of the contract she basically told me she had no time to look for my paperwork. There was no one in his office and you have to buzz to get in and the place is a mess. If I had seen all of that I would never have used this company. STAY AWAY FROM JEFF GALLAGHER AND BEST FAMILY MOVING AND STORAGE!!!!! They used a Enterprise Rental Truck to move me and they were just hanging out at my building I have pictures from my neighbors while I waited at the storage. PLEASE BEWARE.
