Lets see where do I began??? Lets start form the top! The pay was awfull compaired to the amount of money this company was charging for training. There where times that i did not get paid for clients that I trained due to the fact that "corprate" did not have all the paperwork needed because our manager did not complete the contracts correctly! mangement was a total joke, they would hire ANYBODY! " Hey you want a job? can you sell? are you a pushy sales guy? hey your hired!" Thats pretty much is what i saw during my time there.

All the employes had to where a trainer shirt even if they were not certified trainers. The sales people would take the clients out on the floor and give them a free session knowing d**n well they are not TRAINERS! i would watch them as they would BS there way through the session, and yes some did know what they where doing but a majority did not.

Sales people would jip others from there comission, just so they could make there "quota". The work enviroment was unprofessional, corprate made all the money we got paid crap and the client got screwed, that is a recipe for disaster!

I do not work there anymore and have moved on to a much more professional company that cares for the client as well as the trainers. I still work out at LA fitness so I still see what go's on there and i cant help but laugh and say to myself what a joke! Now let me say this, there are a few good solid trainers that work there, I do not want to take anything away from them. They help the clients get to there goals safely and efficiently. My words of advice for anyone who reads this, STAY AWAY FROM BODY OF CHANGE!!!

Body of change is an absolute joke

Wow, what a perfect little BOC drone.

Obviously the problem is not sales. The ability to sell is a great asset to a trainer. The problem is using deception to sell. As BOC sales staff you are telling the clients that they are buying a service provided by incredible, knowledgable trainers, that is a lie. BOC has no standards for hiring trainers. There are a few trainers that are qualified, but they are few and far between, and usualy quit within a few months because of the extreme exploitation.

Besides, the sales staff are only there because the BOC system is designed to exploit the trainers. If there were no sales staff, BOC would have no excuse for paying the trainers such insulting wages. BOC's excuse for paying the trainers such low wages is always,"We find the clients for them", Why can't BOC just hire highly qualified trainers and have them find their own clients? What do we need a bunch of fat, ignorant salesmen for???? Instead, The sales staff keep the sign up fee the client has to pay (what a joke), and BOC keeps %90 of the personal training fees and gives the trainer peanuts. BOC is making an obscene amount of money off of their greedy little system.
BOC is about exploitation, not quality fitness training.

What you said about certifications was realy ignorant. There are about 2 highly respected certifications, NASM, ACSM. These certifications require you to have some degree of intelligence. I have been through the NASM program and It made a huge difference in my training. You can't get a job with a respected fitness center without those certs,(or a degree) BOC is NOT a respected company. BOC trainers have low grade Internet certifications. Or no certs at all.
Your comment about PT certifications is exactly what I hear from people who either arent certified, or have a cheesy cert. wich do you have peter??

For highly qualified trainers, BOC is a huge mistake. If you have to work for a corprate giant, work for Equinox or something like it, although there is still some exploitation, they take fitness alot more serious than BOC.

The best thing to do is find a gym that will let you pay rent, and just bring clients there, and then you can make your money without some scumbag used car salesmen taking his cut.

Body of Change is a joke

Jeff

If you were a PROFESSIONAL trainer ...

... you would understand that the job involves as much "sales" as it does "training," as you would have no clients to train if you did not first sell them on the service.

... you would be able to execute your own client contracts without having to depend on a manager to do the task for you.

... you would understand that "certified" means virtually nothing in the personal training world, as there are dozens upon dozens of so-called certification programs which ultimately prove nothing.

... you would have never worked for a national fitness chain in the first place, but rather would have started your own personal business. That is, if you are good enough to attract a steady clientele.
