In addition to my previous complaint I have learned of two other ways Polly Badt owner of Body Rehab Center has mistreated her Patients.

First, She has the Patient pay the difference between what the Insurance Company pays and what her rates are.  She is contracted with each Insurance Company and she can only charge you the co-pay or your deductable.  She cannot charge you over and above what her contract rate is.  An example: Her rate is $176 for 1 hour and she is contracted with your Insurnace Company for $90.  She cannot charge you the difference of $86. If you have a deductable to satisfy, you should only pay $90 not the full charge of $176.

Secondly, Excessive Treatments.  Mrs. Badt states you need treatment for 1 or more years.  Insurance Companies say 24 treatments are the maximum and anything over that is inappropiate and a form of fraudulent compensation.  If you are not better after 6 months, you need to seek an alternative treatment from your Doctor.  Obvioulsy, the treatments are not working for your condition.

There is two much medical fraud in our society and each and every individual needs to talk with their Insurance Company as to what charges are allowed.  It is only a 5 minute phone call that will save you thousands of dollars.

POLLY BADT BODY REHAB CENTER ALL RIP OFF REPORTS ARE TRUE!

AUTHOR: Upset in Malibu - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, July 16, 2011

I know of several unhappy patients.  In fact, several people have filed complaints with Insurance Companies and the Physical Therapy Board. Common sense tells you that Badt is unethical. Look at how many reports/complaints there are since 2008 on different issues and from different people.

The real truth is in these reports, not the phony rebuttals posted which were more than likely by Polly herself.  All rebuttals were posted on the same day.  I'm sure there will be more complaints filed against her.

I have spent a lot of time researching this topic and hopefully I have encouraged people to check the charges with their Insurance Companies. Medical fraud needs to stop.  We are paying higher insurance and medicare rates because of fraudulent greedy actions by medical providers.  Polly is the perfect example of what is wrong with our system.

Ripoff Report: #387629 dated 11/3/08  Polly Badt - Body Rehab Center Overcharges Patients & Insurance Companies - very detailed and has to many statistics for it to be untrue.

Ripoff Report: #572925 dated 2/21/10  by Kathy Polly Badt - Body Rehab Center engage in Medical Billing Fraud - again to many statistics for it not to be true.

Ripoff Report #693596 dated 2/10/11  Body Rehab Center Polly Blue Cross Insurance Payments of $75 plus $60  (this is my rip off report)

I contacted the BBB and they told me Polly Badt removed my review. Why do you think that is.

In her own words, read how she admits to ripping me off.  Per her responses to me: (read full responses below)

If I were to treat you for one hour at $75 I would not only not make any money but would lose alot of money. I am doing my best to find a way that I could still take blue cross patients and yet find a way to pay the bills and my therapists. rent is high, therapists are costly

Blue cross last march, cut back its reimbursement by over 50%. They now will only pay a "maximum" of $75. Billing is not simple, but basically $75 equates to 30 minutes. If I were to bill for 15 minutes, they would pay less than $75. If I were to bill for 45 minutes they would pay a maximum of $75.

MY RESPONSE TO POLLY BADT RE: MY REVIEW ON BBB WEBSITE.

Dear Polly B. I talked to your assistant who was very kind in explaining what she had been told by your billing department. After reading your email I gave you the benefit of doubt and researched Blue Cross on the internet. It appears the $75 rates have been a huge controversy. After reading numerous articles it confirms my earlier statement.

Here is a sample: "Beginning March 1, Blue Cross will pay physical therapists $75 per visit for all treatment, regardless of the duration or type of care provided. The California Physical Therapy Association says PTs will lose as much as 50 percent of their previous fees". Also, a long letter from Evan Handler addresses this same issue. So, are you telling me that I am still obligated to pay you the additional $60 on top of Blue Cross' payment of $75. This is contradictory of the internet searches I viewed today.

Blue Cross paid you $75 for my treatments no matter what the duration was. If it was 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour, your fee should only be $75. NOT $135 or more. The only reason I paid more is because I trusted what was told to me by your office. After reading this response and you still feel I owed the additional $60 please explain why. If I am wrong I will gladly correct my review.

Polly B. Sent on: 2/6/11 Subject: your review of my practice

Dear Person, Blue cross pays for only the $75. It is up to you if you wish a longer treatment. Because of the over 50% cutbacks, that includes at least a %50 reduction in time. We must bill per codes which are indicative of a certain amount of time. 2 codes is the max of 30 minutes, which is $75.00. If you did not wish to pay more then you did not need to pay more and your time would have been 30 minutes. If you can find a quality physical therapist that will treat you longer, and not turn you over to an aid... please you are free to do so. I have been very upfront with what the charges are. If I were to treat you for one hour at $75 I would not only not make any money but would lose alot of money. I am doing my best to find a way that I could still take blue cross patients and yet find a way to pay the bills and my therapists. rent is high, therapists are costly, and i will not pass you off on to any "aide" who does not have any qualifications. But why you take this up on the BBB site, when you can talk to me directly. I have many patients with blue cross, but cause of the reduction, i almost stopped being a provider, but when so many patients asked me to please stay on, that at least 30 minutes was better than nothing. And I have it quite clear from blue cross that if one wishes more than the 30 minutes, one may buy more time. And i do not bill blue cross for more than 30 minutes. I bill for exactly what they pay. And who did you talk to about getting your money back? It would be nice if you came to me in person and we could discuss this. Billing is quite confusing to patients, and I am always available to discuss it and any other issues. Sincerely, Polly

Dear Person I am sorry that you did not come to me and discuss this. But you are misinformed. I am glad you found another place to go that you are happy with. Some places I quess are willing to eat the costs and give you more than 30 minutes. But I ask you, are you being seen by a registered physical therapist or are you being turned over to an aide who has not been professionally trained? Again I wish you had come to me personally. Sincerely, The owner.
