We booked Steve Stoner as a fishing guide in the Boulder Mtn. Steve talks a big show and tells you how many fish your going to catch etc etc... To be fair we did catch fish. But he took us to some of the most heavly used lakes to some of the dumbest fish I have ever met. We litereally spent the whole day "dangling" our flys in front of these fish sitting there. We caught em, but it wasn't much fun.

When I did hook up, he got real frantic yelling about barbless hooks and screamed "your killing the fish man!" It was nerve wracking and not fun. He yells about your cast, tells you he could do it all day long. Several points during the day he did take the rod from my hand and catch fish. I stood and watched. Thats a big guide no no. Don't catch the clients fish!  If you try somthing that he dosn't approve of he'll let you know.

He pulled the I'll take all the pictures deal on us. We took no pictures at his request, or rather instance. We recieved no pictures because we didn't tip him at the end of the trip. Steve, you need to understand that when you run your own buisness, people don't expect to tip you! Especally when you have charged $400 per person, didn't include a lunch or a single peice of equipment. Not one fly came out of his box. Instead he asked to see what we had. At the end of the trip he squeeled the tires and sped off in his car like a big baby because we didn't tip.

Steve Stoner is a selfish loud mouthed padantic person that has no place in the service industry. He truely believes that he owns these lakes, told us several experiences of cross stocking several of them, and telling people to get off of them. He's a liar and a bad buisnessman. Return buisness alone would set him up but he fails to understand the concept. Choose someone else when booking a guide to the Boulder Mountians.

I concur with everything said here.  Even after a horrible experience we still tipped him and he never sent us our pictures.  This guy is a horrible guide.  I hope these posts can prevent someone from spending their hard earned money on him.  I've used The Quiet Fly Fisher for subsequent trips to the area and my experience has been exceptional.
