My Ex Wife - Kristy, Dallas Texas (43)let her car that she was awarded in our divorce, be repossessed in 1989. Marine Midland Corporation which had financed the car came after ME.

I got with my attorney and he negotiated a settlement with them to pay my half that I paid in full on 7/25/1989.
I sued Kristy and won a judgement for the amount of which she promptly filed for bankruptcy and it dismissed in the bankruptcy.

Now I'm still being pursued by CAMCO to pay this bill 15 years later. They tried to make a deal with me to pay $300.00 to make them go away. It was a one time deal only good for that day and I had to give them my checking account number.

Had I done this they would have taken all the money in my account. Don't ever give them your checking account number.

I wrote my attorney and he said this:

1. The statute of limitation on a debt is four (4) years old. It is ILLEGAL for them to try to collect a debt that is 15 years old.

2. He suggested I write them and point out the statute of limitations issue. Also inform them that if there is another contact, that you will sue them for improper debt collections.

3. Go to J. P. Court in your state and sue them for improper debt collection, mental anguish, etc.

4. Write your Attorney General's office and report their illegal activities.

CAMCO said they will just sell my account to the next collection agency, but now I know the law, I will be ready.

I dealt with these morons in April....wrote the letter AFTER I found the weak spots to hit them with.....other than the normal avenues that most of you take.....cease and desist, government, attorneys.....try calling the Federal Banking Commission for your state.....especially AZ.....they are NOT licensed to collect any monies for collections or otherwise....and make it known WHEN you write them! They never bothered me after I wrote my letter....so tell your attorney that! Good luck!
