In June 2009, I was forced to create an account at Care2.com in order to sign a petition.  Immediately after signing, I began the process to delete the account.  This is not a site I have a huge interest in nor do I wish to have an account there.

The "delete account" link led to nowhere but a blank page.  I submitted a Technical Support request for assistance in deleting the account.  I received a canned response with a ticket number assigned to my request.  This is all I ever received.

It has been nearly 8 months.  I have forwarded the canned response to the Technical Support group five times.  The account remains active, the "delete account" link remains non-functioning, and I have no other route to take to delete my account.

I strongly urge you to NOT set up an account with this site.  The inability to delete the information they require in order to set one up leaves one open to potential misuse/abuse of that information.  I am filing any/all complaints where possible.

NO Resolution in 25 Months

AUTHOR: MN - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, September 09, 2012

I am appreciative of your response to my concern but it has now been 25 months with no resolution.  I have yet to receive any response from Care2.  I spent a good part of my life in the world of IT and I am aware of most routes to resolve concerns.  None have worked with Care2.  The speculation on your part that it may have been a soon-to-be-resolved technical glitch was inaccurate.  I remain extremely dissatisfied and leery of Care2.

Care2 Review

AUTHOR: kittycatsmeow - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, September 08, 2012

Greetings all.  Just happened to find this review while I was reading Care2 reviews in order to recommend it on another site and then for interest wanted to see some online reviews one of which lead me here.

I joined Care2 back in 2011 and while the complaint is about an issue that certainly can be annoying/frustrating there is no doubt that things have improved on the technical end of things since the date of this complaint was made. For all I know perhaps the problem reported has long since been resolved to the person's satisfaction.

The person making the complaint had to create an account with Care2 to sign a petition that he was interested in and had intended to delete the account after signing the petition but had trouble no doubt of a technical nature and was unable to delete his account, not wanting the account info staying online.

To write this comment I also had to join/register with Ripoff Report and set up an account here which seems to be standard practice when commenting on a site's activity or signing a petition, etc.

The Care2 site is a good place for people who are interested in various causes or advocacy or who just want to spend time reading about interesting things (not everyone out there is cause or advocacy driven and simply enjoys reading articles, information/news feeds and Care2 has something for everyone be it the environment, politics, healthy living, etc.)

Care2 has ongoing technical glitches every now and then as do other sites I am on, such as Flickr which is a fabulous site for those taking photos with tons of groups on every topic under the sun...even photos of beer caps of all things...and if you want to upload them or simply view other people's photos, it is free as well. (With a pro account for those uploading tons of photos).  But every now and then flickr will say:

"Hold your clicks a moment please... Flickr has the hiccups. We're looking into the problem right now."

The issue gets worked on and flickr is back up and running.

I am hoping that the technical issue with the person who had this problem and Care2 has long since been resolved but I just wanted to mention that I have been using the site and my technical issues get resolved. Of course I joined later on.

There also various Care2 groups that one can join if facing a technical issue such as "Need Help In Care2" which is useful when having technical glitches or when wanting to learn how to post a screen shot into or Care2 Feedback and Suggestions. There are also numerous groups you can join and get involved in such as Cat Lovers Group or groups on food, human rights etc.

I enjoy my time on Care2 and don't work for them or have any business connection to them in any way, nor do I work for flickr, the photography site or for MeYouhealth which has a Daily Challenge for getting involved in your personal health care such as exercise tracks and other subjects.

Many free sites have a limited number of staff and do what they can and I admit there can be some problems when surfing on the net and joining various sites but usually these issues are generally resolved.  Just wanted to put in a good word for Care2 as I have a good time on it and believe that while there can be problems with any site, eventually these will get resolved.  If the problem still exists try posting it with one of the Care2 technical groups.
