Dr. Levine of Career & Life Options stated she could help me achieve my goal of reentering the job market in a new field (so I followed her advice as directed).  Unfamiliar with career counseling and fearful of being unemployed I allowed Dr. Levine to drag the process out until it became extremely clear that she would do so until I was drained of my savings (my savings where what she called my saving grace in this process).

12 meetings at $175 /per 45 min session as follows:  2 consultations, 3 of aptitude testing, 4 of test review, a review of my college transcripts (provided with my resume at our 2nd meeting).  At our 11th

session, with no more test to give or review (and my concern with our slow/no progress was raised AGAIN), Dr. Levine took my transcripts and all of the test, and provided the following 3 solutions:

1) would I consider going back to my old job, 2) could my girlfriend get me a job (being she worked in the industry I left), or 3) would I consider buying a Retro Fitness because she continually hears the ads for franchises on the radio and I appear to look as though I like to work out (no -I am not joking).

The initial & 2nd meetings are consultations consisting of boastful claims that "I can get you on the

right track, how would you like to complete your degree & I can get you to where you want to be in life".  3 months & $2,100 later, when all of the "testing" and "assessments" were done, it became clear Dr. Levine had no plan (she still had not even taken the time to review my resume).

I scheduled one final meeting to see if I could walk away with ANYTHING.   Dr. Levines positive tone turned negative, as she proceeded to point out my age, lack of degree, and time unemployed (all the same status as at our initial meeting) as the issues.  She pushed the ball into my court and combined it with a no magic bullet speech.  I walked away with no progress & no gains (just a folder of useless test & vague ideas like go talk to people in the industry youre interested in).  Not even an offer to allow me to call with questions, just an open invite to schedule appointments if I need any future help (at a charge).

Dr. Levine charges $175/ per 45 minute session, with total clarity at your initial meeting that she only takes cash or check (if you bounce one, your out), if you cancel without 24-48 hours notice

she will charge you, and if your late, thats off your time.

What she doesnt tell you is 1) she continually answers her phone on your time sometimes as many as 3-4 calls a sessions (rude at best), 2) She often books sessions back to back, causing her to close out

the prior session and prepare for yours on your time (several times I waited outside for her to arrive, again on my time), and the final and best, 3) instead of reviewing my files, college transcripts & resume while I was taking the aptitude test (so to not run up my bill by doing this while I watch her do it at $4/minute),  she online shopped and made phone calls on my time.

At this time, I am attempting to apply to the exact colleges she directed me to (but I do not have the sufficient GPA to get accepted -though DR. Levine had my transcripts), nor any idea as to how to maneuver thru the process.

I would hate for anyone who found themself in my position, put their savings and hope into this BS, only to wind up with less of both.

I am very sorry about this whole situation. but cannot respond anymore to this report or provide any detail about the content of sessions, because that would require me to provide personal background information that would violate this client's Confidentiality and Privacy.  I have attempted to contact him by telephone and will do so again by mail.  Beyond that, I cannot engage in further online communication and will not file further updates.

As you will note, Dr. Lynn M. Levine filed a rebuttal to my report.  Please also note that no place in her report does she dismiss, rebut or deny one single fact I stated in my report as it pertains to her lack of professionalism or her lack of results.  Additionally, as of the time she filed her report, she had in no way or form attempted to reach out to me.  However she did place a call to me since the filing of her rebuttal, with the offering of a free session (and a reiteration of her position that her failure to accomplish any of her goals were again a result of MY age, lack degree, and time unemployed).   I am not sure as to how this would assist me if she was unable to accomplish ANYTHING in 3 months of sessions.

I was extremely distressed to read this report, as I attempt to provide high-quality services to all my clients.  This is the first negative review I have seen posted in 32 years of practice.  As the writer of this report is protected by Confidentiality guidelines, I cannot respond in detail to his allegations, other than to say that I made repeated efforts to meet his needs, suggest viable alternatives, and to move him along in the process.  The content of each session, and what to expect, were clearly laid out each time;  I have also left a follow-up message with this client to offer an additional session, without charge, to see if I can help him further.
