So a few weeks ago I received a "ticket" in the mail telling me I won a "free" cruise. My initial response was it's a scam but my husband says call it you never know.

Boy was that a bad idea. In order to claim my free cruise, I had to pay taxes and port fees totaling over $100 per person. I said no thanks then they asked to speak to my husband. I put him on the phone and he told them the same thing.

Then the rep precedes to argue with my husband about how we shouldnt turn done such a good offer. My husband tells them we know this is a scam and there is no way we're giving you our credit card information.

Finally my husband just hung up on them. About a half hour later, they call me back. Now it's the "president" of the company. He's calling to explain how its not a scam, blah, blah, blah.

My husband tells him, we are NOT interested and the guy gets really angry, starts yelling at my hubby. Well my hubby is not the most temperate person and of course he starts yelling back. I finally take the phone and hang up.

Since then I have received numerous calls from them, no matter how much I say quit calling. They have progressed to prank call status and Im fed up..

My wife and I have fallen victim to this same scam. My wife called to cancel our trip and get our money back and they have refused. Was the person in comment #4 able to get their money back? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get our back. I am exploring our options with our credit card company. Is there a law enforcement agency that we can contact?

I am another victim

My wife received this same flyer in the mail and unfortunately agreed to their terms and gave the salesperson on the phone our credit card information. The salesman said to my wife on the phone that our flight for two to Florida would be covered by the amount we paid. We just got our travel information in the mail and it turns out that we still need to pay for one flight and we would receive a 2 for 1 voucher in the mail. My wife tried to cancel and they told her that a refund is not possible.

Was the person in comment number 3 able to get their money back from them? Does any one have a suggested means of getting our money back? I am exploring my options with my credit card company. Is there a Florida law enforcement agency I should contact?

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Former employee gives you the truth

AUTHOR: jennymae - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, December 18, 2010

I used to work for the tampa office, calling people to give them their free cruises. It is not technically a scam, in that they do let let you take an all inclusivecruise on their ship for 2 days and all you have to pay is 59.00 a person in taxes. There is a ship, there is a cruise, and the only upfront fees are the port taxes i mentioned. however, there are other fees and costs once you board the ship, such as gratuities, a parking fee for leaving your car etc.

Also the woman who wrote this report is right on, they are EXTREMELY rude on the phone to people turning this deal down and they encourage their employees (or independent contractors as they pretend any employee is) to be rude. if you take no for an answer or are not pushy and rude you get in a lot of trouble. All you have to do when they continue to call is say the exact words, put me on your do not call list. They really will do that because there are some harsh federal laws about that and they are careful not to break the law. However if you just say, dont call me any more, they probably will still call, you have to be very specific and say "Put me on your do not call list". Being on the national one doesnt matter because they get your number from either a)something on the net or a win a free cruise drawing box like at a store or convention center where you or someone else put your number down to wina cruise. or b) you bought somethign from an infomercial or something like thatand after you bought your magic bullet or arthir3d supplements they "transferred" you to win your free cruise. even if you hang up before they transfer you they still get your number and will keep calling until you say put me on your dnc list. I got into trouble for putting people on the dnc list who werent saying those specific words so i know what im talking about.

And god forbid you WANT the free cruise, you have to spend literally an hour and a half or more listening to them pitch you their extended stay pacakges and trying to convince you to buy them before they let you have the free 2 day cruise.

try not to be hard on the poor guy or gal on the phone with you at first, they probably do not want to be nearly as pushy as they have to be but believe me if they dont and a manager or boss happens to be listening in to your calls (which they do often) they will be yelled at and ridiculed in front of everyone for it. Not to mention they will lose their job if it happens very often. I left as quickly as they could because they are just as bad to their "employees" or independent contractors as they call them as they are to their customers.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Are you on the Do Not Call List?

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 31, 2009

If you are tell the caller that you are and that he is being recorded. If his company calls again you will turn the number over to the Government and they will fine him. He will obviously hang up at that point and you will probably not hear from these scumbags again.
