In Feb. 2008 my daughter cancelled her cell phone account with US Cellular. She finally paid the bill June 2008 by credit card.

Beginning about 2 weeks ago I began receiving phone calls from a collection agency who identified themselves as agents for US Cellular. I also received a bill from US Cellular that these charges were outstanding.

I immediately went, with credit card statement in hand, to the local Valley View US Cellular store. There I spoke with one of their Customer Service Reps, who began researching this account to see what had happened.

"Andrea" discovered that this account had been credited twice and when this error was noted by someone on the USC staff, the 2nd credit was "backed out of"...which in turn backed out of both credits that apparently no one noticed for some time.

"Andrea" assured me the matter was taken care of and that all was fine. I believe she thought that was true. However, 2 days later, I was receiving calls again from CCA.

I tried explaining to the rep at CCA that the matter was taken care of and that I did not owe any money to US Cellular. This collections rep wanted me to fax them a copy of my credit card statement!

I told her absolutely not as I was not faxing any of my personal information to someone & a company that I did not know. And that this bill was paid in full and had been proven to US Cellular. This rep told me that they would continue to call me until I took care of the matter. (This is not my matter to take care of - it is the responsibility of US Cellular!)

After this phone call I, once again, made another trip to the local US Cellular store & once again, "Andrea" assisted me. She called the US Cellular home office, then we both called CCA, and then she again called USC's home office.

I was assured that a "hold" was going to be put on my accout with CCA and that no one would be contacting me & that would give USC time to send over the appropriate paperwork to stop this collection agency from calling me.

Again, on Wed. evening (11/26/08) I received yet another phone call from CCA. I again explained that this bill was paid - at least what words I could get in with the CCA rep yelling and constanting talking over me. Since this rep was so bound and determined not to listed to what I had to say, I told him, as best I could that this matter had been taken care of with USC and that if his company called me one more time I would report this company for phone harassment & hung up the phone.

I immediately called USC's customer service # and explained the entire situation to the rep. He said he could not help me and that I needed to call collections and speak with them. I asked this rep for the # (since CCA blocks their calls & they don't show up a # on caller ID). He obliged and I called back CCA.

This time I spoke with a woman. I began the conversation in an apologetic kind of way...explaining that I was not mad at her and that I was mad at USC and that I was just looking for a solution to stop these phone calls from her company. She seemed okay at first and did say that she could see that I didn't owe any money to USC. I then asked her if she could see that I didn't owe USC any money then why were they still continuing to contact me?

How in the world can you collect on a zero balance?

She then tried to direct me to the rep who had called me earlier that evening. I explained that I did not want to talk to him and that I would rather deal with her. Then this other rep was back on the phone screaming my name. I told him I was not speaking with him. I tried to continue a conversation with the rep I was speaking with but this man just kept yelling and then they both began speaking over me.

I then raised my voice and told them that I owed USC nothing and that if they continued to call me that I would have no problems in calling 911 and reporting them for phone harassment. They said they would keep calling me...so I told them I was hanging up and calling 911...which I did.

That night I also filed a complaint with the BBB and have filed complaints with the SCC. I am tired of being harassed for something that was not my fault. And as of 1 hour ago...CCA is still calling me and so badly wanting a copy of my credit card statement!

Now why do they want that so badly? Why do they want my personal information? Beware of this company!
