I worked for Cellular Plus for about a year and a half. I was hired under $8/hr plus commission. In two months, the hourly was taken away from everyone and we were put strictly on commission. That was just the beginning of the drastic and deceptive commission structure changes.

About every two or three months, we were going through different commission changes, and having to sign new contracts, without being given time to review them. But Mr. Scott Jones, the owner, made it sound like we were getting an amazing deal each time. That wasn't the case.

We started getting shift bonuses, but we only got those bonuses if everyone in the office completed a long list of tasks for the day. That's not so bad if you're making a nice commission check every month. Which hardly anyone was. In fact, quite the reverse. Most people ended up having negative checks. Meaning, we owed the COMPANY money. No one could figure out how Scott was pulling that one off, and when people would demand an answer, he would just sugarcoat it with his smooth, conniving sales skills. And people would quit. And they wonder why they're constantly having to hire people.

Don't be deceived by Scott, or Chad, or anyone at Cellular Plus.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

This and That

AUTHOR: Jason - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 22, 2010

I worked for Cellular Plus for 14 months. I was hired under the same 8.00 + as well. I was there when we had the meeting at the nasty Mexican restaurant.

I am mixed on the feeling of moving to commission only. It was a good thing, and it was a bad thing. At that time I feel Scott was doing what he could to make the company stay afloat and keep profits up to keep people employed.

As far as the shift bonus and stuff, well it was part of the job to keep the store clean, and to keep the place neat. Did Scott think the shift bonus and higher commission would offset the hourly wage, probably. I really don't know. I think Scott still believes he is doing what he can to keep the stores open. Was Cellular Plus a bad place to work at?
Not really.

If you are a current employee, just keep doing what you can to keep your sales up, you will make more money.
