A bit of background...  Recently I was on a trip to Tupper lake for a bit of the old canoe/camp experience.  I was expecting a quaint mountain town similar to a Norman Rockwell painting with pleasant people.  I was a little let down when I noticed that the locals did not seem friendly, and kinda seemed like the scummy meth addicts from down south.  Everyone seemed frumpy and like they just came off a 2 day bender, etc..  So I decided to do some snooping around on google, and I came up with this site.  I must say now, this is probably enough reading material to last me years.  I have been going non stop all day on this one single thread, and there are like 15 pages full of long threads all detailing who's screwing who and who's the town drunk and who molests their kids and gets away with it.  My god people, all I can say is thank god for Tupper Lake.  I fear this thread has died tho, and maybe I caught it at the tail end.  I hope to breathe some new life into this thread and get the gossip going again!!!  Please people, I just found this site today!

First, my apologies for what may seem like an attempt at 'thread-hijacking', but this is not my intent. I have a question.

Twice, now, I have attempted to post a report of my own - twice, it has failed to show up on the boards.

I follow all the procedures, and fill in all of the required fields. I click 'submit', and the next page indicates that I have indeed submitted a report.

Yet, when I search for it, I can never find it, even after waiting for a full day. I have enabled cookies.

Has anyone had any problems with this? Suggestions?

If you didn't want to get ragged on, then you should not have posted a fluff piece on this despicable town. Anyone with a morsel of intelligence could recognize that this woman (and her treatment of her child) deserves castigation. However, if you intend to post on these pages and never have your assertions challenged, then it may be best for you to consult your diary instead. Even GOD knew when to throw in the towel when a place became so corrupt and immoral that it warranted extinction from the face of the Earth. Tupper Lake did not just fall into the laps of the posting individuals. It is a place so devoid of decent living that it literally screams for criticism. If you are so concerned with the devolving gene pool in that place, perhaps you should make a trek to the area and work the miracle of reform. Excuses and reasons aside to possibly explain doing such a wicked thing to a child, she certainly should never be able to conceive another one, nor be around others---period. It's been a while, and I have been wondering what is going on with Chanell Fournier and the rest of the trailer trash in Tupper Lake, NY.

I heard that FOX Television is interested in buying the rights to this story!

I beg you to leave Chanell ALONE! I believe she has changed and is a good mother to a daughter and a son in part because of the exposure that came from rip off report. Anyway, I see how a woman can change after having a child. See Chanell was miserable with me and her dad before she had a baby. I Will never understand Chanell but will love her just the same. Chanell, was an evil person or strong willed as she punched me 5 times in the face while in an argument, I was drunk and it pissed me off, I put her over my knee and slapped her a*s 5 times. Regrettably, this post has come to the forefront once again. If you copy and past the whole thing into Word, it's over 200 pages--it's generated that much attention. For those who've not bothered to read ALL of the material, rest assured...Alexander is reportedly doing well as are Chanell and her little girl. The most recent postings regarding her welfare indicate that she is in a stable relationship and that she and her significant other are providing a good home for their child.

To those of you who "knock" her photo...compare it to the one of Polly Garvey. Her picture is a professional photograph that should be "Polly-On-A-Good-Day", right? Cut Chanell some slack...this photo looks like it was taken on the fly, she was surprised, and they didn't even use red-eye reduction. What's Polly's excuse? She KNEW she was getting her picture taken and she still looks like sin dipped in misery.

Overall, Chanell's "picture" has improved. She's, reportedly made changes in her life for the better and she probably looks a lot better now too as a result.

The title of this report is inflammatory and naturally, it generates interest; yet, some of the suggestions on the proper handling of the situation were appalling. Under the circumstances, it would certainly appear that things have worked out for the best.

On a side note: Sick of this - Tupper, New York wrote on 9/24/2002, addressing Katie "I know where the father of your child is and If he was here he would take care of his child but we know where he is and personally I think your crazy family put him where he is I don't think he did it himself." I ask, can someone clear the air on this ONE? (Might I strongly suggest taking it to a new report so Chanell's can get a rest?)

I have finally figured out what is going on in this town! NO there is no inbreeding going on, OK maybe a little, OK maybe a lot.. The major problem I see here is that the town of Tupper Lake NY needs to stop holding their Fall Town Mixer at the local Mental Hospital. I admit, I only read a small fraction of these reports because I simply got tired. What I'm wondering, though, is if anyone in the state system has considered requiring this girl to submit to a psychiatric evaluation. If child protective services is serious about returning the child to the mother, they should seriously consider this in addition to anger management and any other required programs. Considering many people have commented about both her temper and substance abuse, which is often a subconscious attempt to self-medicate, it seems to me that she may suffer from a mood disorder. If that is the case, the right medication (provided she complies)would greatly improve the chances for a positive outcome and a safe environment for the child.

You obviously have underlying isses with this Chanelle woman. (Or however you spell the name) You make these people angry reading your story, but I wonder how much exagerating you have put in to it. Did she toss him in a snow bank, or did she try to collect her child and maybe he threw a fit and tossed himself there? Before I begin, I must say that I find it QUITE surprising that I have wandered back onto this site after being away for so long. I REALLY thought that after the last "tiff" with Jim/"Gomer", I was done with this thread. However, when I received this recent notification of a rebuttal from "ED" at Rip-off Report and his staff (who by the way, are doing a MARVELOUS job, as usual), I just HAD to respond.

First, I want to thank "Concerned - Upper New York" for providing a touching, significant and contributing response to this stream of "B.S." regarding your friend. Unlike the responses posted by "Jim LaVair", your's didn't come across in a snide, attacking manner, was very informative, and spoke of RECENT, first-hand accounts. Honestly, I was one of those who came down pretty hard on Chanell when I initially heard of this "baby-in-the-s****.> I REALLY believe that there have been a number of well-meaning people that have added sincere, out-reaching responses here. However, throughout the rhetoric and unnecessary drama that has crept in here, those messages and their sentiments, have gotten lost somehow.

EVERYONE deserves a second chanse to redeem themselves....Not ONLY to THEMSELVES, but their accusers, to those who have been hurt or wronged by their words, actions, and deeds.....as WELL as to the ultimate judge of ALL of our public AND secret transgressions. I do not know the individuals mentioned in this childish and immature Rip-Off Report entry, but I'd like to state for the record on the type of people who live in the town of Tupper Lake, New York. I live approximately 60 miles east of Tupper Lake, and I'd like to tell those of you who are unfamiliar with this area (located in the boondocks of Northeastern New York State) about the type of ignorant pathetic, ill-educated, low-life losers who inhabit the town of Tupper Lake. Franklin County, New York is one of the poorest counties in all of New York State, as the only real employer in the area is the State of New York Department of Criminal Justice Services (There is a large State Prison located in nearby Dannemora). As a consequence, the people who fail to get an education and move out of this economically depressed area are, to put it bluntly, the lowest of the low. There is absolutely nothing to do in these towns, which are located LITERALLY in the middle of nowhere. This boredom frequently results in an unusually high proportion of alcoholism and drug abuse. I suspect that Chanell Fournier is simply a product of this unfortunate fact. It's a shame that a small child is involved, but what can we, as outsiders do about it? I hope that the local child protective services personnel make an informed decision about the fitness of Ms. Fournier as a mother, and act accordingly!

Firstly, let's start off by stating the obvious. If, in fact, you had read through every post in this painfully LONG thread, you'd note three things right off the bat:

1.) This post is YEARS old. The child who was dropped in the s****.> Even Chanelle herself has managed to clean up her act, and is trying to get her life together.

2.) Chanelle has had friends let her in on this little tidbit of information; some of them have stood in her defense, and others have bought out information that confirms her character in a negative manner.

3.) Chanelle (at the time of the original post) didn't own a computer. She has, however, managed to get to a friend's computer to see this website--more specifically, this particular page--and HAS responded. Her responses were nothing to the tune of self defense, but more to point out that her friends and other girls at the local watering hole (Mudd Puddles) are just as sleazy, dress like prostitutes, and that "folks need to mind their own busness" (put more politely). Not one time did she own up to making a mistake or even deny the acusations standing against her. She doesn't owe US an apology, though....she does owe her child one---both of them, actually---because her behaviour was nothing short of monstrous.

You see, Miss Kara...not too many people think it's a condonable thing, throwing a tantrum and dropping a three week old baby into a s****.> And don't give me the "poor teenaged Mom, doesn't know what to do" whine either. She was over twenty-one, unless the Tavern serves minors or the legal drinking age is lower in Tupper Lake (why would that not surprise me?!) than it is across the U.S.

If such is the case, than maybe teenaged kids need to stop exercising the right to have sex...or are you okay with that too? (I'd bet you are, for some reason...). LMAO.

I've had the pleasure of being a Mom...even a StepMom, and I'd do nothing to change that. No amount of alcohol, drugs, or illicit sex could make me feel better than when I'm close my children. Nothing compares to it. And guess what? My childrens' needs will always weigh greater than my own...ironically, it's an easy charge to carry.

I put the wrong report name in here earlier. The report that April accused David and I of being the same person was http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff3401.htm - A Pizza Hut report, not IHOP (they said other bunk in that one LOL). Our beloved EDitor kindly added to my rebuttal to inform her we are two separate people.

Of course now her husband, Dale, has started to say the same crap on the Ford report they did. *sigh* You'd think they'd 'get it' by now, ya know what I mean?

Layne, it was a little risky doing that experiment with David. The big lug is 6'3" tall to my 5' even and I was scared to death he would pass out, fall my way, and squish me like a bug! Darn tall people anyway. LOL.

I didn't get any pics of it, sorry. I should have, maybe then people would quit accusing David and I of being the same person in the various reports we both do rebuttals on. (The latest being the IHOP report where the EDitor had to assure April we really are two separate people.)

I sometimes have rebuttals that don't go thru too when my ISP is acting up. I keep a copy of longer ones I do, just in case they don't go up, then repost them in a day or so if I don't see them here.

My case wasn't actually that unusual for the 1950's. Single mother's being lied to was common back then and many babies were taken away by depective means. That's why a lot of states fight opening adoption records for us baby boomers so hard .. they don't want us being reunited with our birth families and finding out the truth. Mine was so involved they never even issued me an original birth certificate, only the adoptive one.

After I took on the state to get my records opened, I heard I was the first case in 30 years that succeeded. Of course, after I did it, it then opened the door for other adoptees to do the same thing. :) I also learned enough to help other adoptees search out their birth families and have been personally involved in 3 reunions since I had mine.

I was Mom's 2nd child. She was single and had no money to spend on a lawyer back then to try to get me back, so she lost me. Being reunited helped both of us more than I can ever say. I no longer have a part of myself missing like I did before I met her.

My adoptive home was the best. The next couple on the Welfare list for a baby was a doctor and his wife. After we got records opened and realized everyone knew everyone else, the 'thanks' went from mom to mom for the role they each played in my life.

I lived in the Fort Myers area when Andrew went thru Florida many years ago. I miss hurricane parties! Hell, I miss Florida period. LOL.

Nancy from Phoenix! Welcome back! Glad to see "the Phoenix has risen again!" hehehe I tried to post a reply last week but it looks like it never got posted. Oh well..that hurricane caused a lot of craziness in a lot of areas down here.

Anyways, I know you spoke briefly about what had happened before at the hands of HRS or whatever they called it in the state you were born in at the time. I am so very sorry to hear that happened. I could see if your Mom's 11 other children were also removed prior to your being born, then, yes, the state has ground for TEMPORARILY removing the child from the mother's custody, especially if the mother has a record of giving birth to substance exposed children (babies born with drugs in their system, ie pot, crack, alochol, etc).

BUT, you stated that your Mom was allowed to raise your siblings without any trouble at all..so I am left wondering WHY this happened to her and WHY for God's sakes won't an attorney JUMP on this case...if all you are saying happened as you state it did...she REALLY seems to have SOME kind of legal recourse I would think.but I am not an attorney so I would suggest she consult one..or YOU could for that matter! That is just an outrage that happened to you. I can only hope that your adoptive home life was as nurturing as it possibly could be and that you suffered little to no attachment disorder issues from that horrible snafu.

I would hope that you pursue this. Unless, there are other details that prevent you from having a solid case. But based just on what you have shared..you and bio mom were WRONGED in a devastating way. You lost your childhood with her...and she with you.

Sorry to go off on you as I did, but had you read the rebuttals in full, you would have understood why I said what I did. We've had all types come in with their 2 cents over the years and it was said long ago that both Chanell and her kids are doing great.

Chanell got anger management help and the kids are growing up happy and healthy according to the people from Tupper Lake I talk to in chat all the time.

The way you worded your post, you did sound exactly like the adoptive parents I've had run-ins with in various places online, but mainly in alt.adoption and alt.birth-mother. They come in there flashing their money around and trying to find pregnant girls who are thinking about relinquishing their babies. It's pretty sad to see and it is usually something they are told to do by the not so good adoption agencies out there these days. I'm pretty sure you know the type I mean if you are an adoptee yourself. All they think about is the money they get from the aparents and never give the baby a thought and the last time I checked, adoption is supposed to be ALL about the baby, not who has the most money to spend to get one. There was one agency about 4 or 5 years ago who sold a set of twins TWICE via the internet! Very messy.

I too, was raised by a wonderful set of aparents. My anger is at the Welfare Dept. and what they did to my bmom. Turned out in the end my parents all knew each other, so that was pretty cool. My bmom and all my brothers and sisters from her went to my adad for glasses. He was an Optometrist. He also played pool with his doctor buddies at a hotel lounge that my bmom worked at for a short time. He told her once that she reminded him of her daughter .. neither of them ever suspecting I really WAS her daughter. LOL.

BTW, while I wasn't born and raised in Florida, I consisder Davie, Florida home. I soooo miss living there and hope to get back 'home' one day in the future. In the meantime, can you *please* send me some humidity before all my skin flakes off? I'll take the wonderful humidity over this dry heat of Phoenix anyday, anytime! I also miss dancing at The Davie Junction and shopping at Grif's Western. :)

While I do hope you are correct that the second child is doing well, in my heart I don't believe that is true given the history (and thus my offer to adopt). Frankly, I did not read many of the posts because most were not about the children but were just angry rebuttals between people. I had no need to read those.

Adoption Agency? None. I already ahve children and just offered what I felt was right. Incidentally, I'm adopted...and am grateful for it. I was given a wonderful life and just wanted to offer the same in return to another.

Not that I should answer your rebuttal, but I will for those out there that may actually take the time to ponder what you said to me.

I took on the state I was born in legally back in 1991 and got my adoption records opened, then had a reunion with my birth family. I found them all, mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and my 11 brothers and sisters.

The Judge had one hell of a time getting around the Welfare Dept. who was refusing to release all the paperwork, even when it was ordered by the state. Guess they didn't want anyone to see their handiwork in covering over what they did to Mom. He got around them by appointing a guardian ad litem who didn't work for their dept, a sweet lady who was willing to help and not judge me wanting to get the records opened.

See, Mom was in full labor with me when she got to the hospital and there was no time for paperwork. (I had my 3 kids the same way, total labor was about 2 hours start to finish with no pain.) Back then, in the '50's, as you may know, they gave medicine to the mothers to relax them and they would normally fall asleep after the birth. Mom did exactly that. She was awaken by the Welfare lady and she asked Mom to sign admission papers. Groggy from the meds, Mom signed where she was told and went back to sleep. When she woke up again a couple hours later and asked the nurse to bring me to her, she was informed that wasn't possible, she had signed adoption papers and I was no longer hers. She never saw me again.

A snow bank would have been preferable, at least I would have grown up knowing who my birth family was. Instead, the way it turned out, I had to wait until I was in my 30's to meet her. She raised all my brothers and sisters fine, btw, so your 'guess' as to what she is like, is WRONG. Maybe next time you should get some facts before you open your mouth and make yourself look like a total fool.

Thank you for confirming you are a wanna be adoptive parent though and using the net to try to find a baby to buy. One of the standard lines many adoptive parents use to describe birth parents are exactly what you said about mine .. it helps to keep the kid in line when they start asking questions about where they came from as they get into the 12 to 15 yr old age bracket. No, mine never did that, they had a lot more class and my adoptive mom supported me totally when I did my search.

You are the one who needs to face reality. Try going to the b*****d Nation website and reading thru it. Get yourself some 'learning' about all sides of the triad, then come back and talk to me.

Tell me Caroline, which adoption agency told you that 'getting the word out everywhere possible' was the way to find a baby to adopt? I know for a fact they do this, been dealing with it online for years now.

See I'm part of the triad .. I see more and more wannabe adoptive parents advertising for a baby online each year. Do I really need to tell you what that feels like to an adoptee?

Rachel and Caroline, HAD you both really read all the rebuttals on this report, you would know that the baby is now a young boy, he's doing great and he's living with his father. Jim is NOT his father, Jim is just an ex-boyfriend of his mom who posts here. Chanell has moved on in her life, has had a daughter and both of them are also doing well.

Unfortunately this incident is not a hoax. It's been checked out. What happened was also unfortunate. However all seems well now for both the baby and her mother. We can all thank God for that. Actually hardly anyone is ever on topic here as this is sooooo old of news.

Layne, as you have probably read, David and I are real life friends. Last month we went out to an IHOP together and we were talking about the effects of hot gravy.

To settle it once and for all, I force fed 5 bowls of gravy to David. I then watched him over the course of the next hour and can absolutely tell you that when he walked out of there, he was tic, drool, etc. free. Oh yeah, almost forgot, he still knew his name, who the president is, what month and year it is, what state Tupper Lake is in and how dead I'm gonna be when he reads this totally silly post. :) LOL.

I think it's best I stop here and go hide under my rock for awhile.

I was not fired and I am soon begining arbitration through my union. I will fight till the end. I am not guilty and will prevail so I am not worried. If worse came to worse I have enough time to draw a normal paycheck until Dec.8th. Then afterward I can draw unemployment for quite awhile. I am not worried. Men and Women all over the globe are reading reports from Tupper Lake. Each report from Tupper Lake is from citizens of that area who do nothing else but BASH OTHER CITIZENS from Tupper Lake. Those of us outside of Tupper Lake, USA, are wondering "what is wrong with all these citizens of Tupper Lake?" Is it in the water? Are these people inbreeding? Is there a chemical plant nearby causing these mutations of personality? Or is just plain everyday ignorance? I guess we will never know.

From Tupper Lake, so far, I have seen 3 different reports. One report stating a mother is abusing her child, a Second report that a teacher verbally and sexually abuses students, and a Third stating a woman is on welfare and shouldn't be, so on and so on. Since I first posted this I have found 2 more.

Now when most of us see reports from Tupper Lake, we just think to ourselves, "Just ignore that, it is just that white trash from Tupper Lake using this site to bash each other again."

The short version of my advice to you would be this. Keep an eye on what your daughter does in chat if she is under 16, easily lead astray, or isn't aware of the dangers one can encounter via chat. By chat I'm talking about IRC and to a lessor extent the IM programs that are available online.

The IRC network I own is a family oriented network, so we don't get as many idiots as the big 3 do. (efnet, undernet, and dalnet) When we do get one in, he never lasts long and gets a PGline (perm ban) off the entire network of servers. It's much easier for my IRCops (people who run the networks and have full power) and myself to keep an eye on a few hundred users as opposed to 20,000 to 30,000 of them that the bigger networks get. Due to my not allowing sex, porn, or warez (trading of illegal software via DCC - Direct Client to Client protocol file transfer) channels on my network, we don't get a lot of questionable users, but have a great base of regulars who chat daily.

Real time chat is fun, but it's very addictive. I've been in IRC for 11 years now and still love it. My daughter chats in IRC too and has since she was 16. She has enough worldly experience that I never had to watch over her, she can hold her own against any moron that may try to pull one over on her in chat. She's also mean as a snake and that probably helps alot. LOL.

|337 sp34k is fairly easy to figure out. The numbers are the letters they look like. | for L, 1 for i, @ or 4 for a, 7 for t, 3 for e, etc. With a little practice anyone can pick it up and figure out any minor changes some make to it. Feel free to ask me if you come across something you don't understand and I'll try to help you figure out what it means. If I don't know, I'm sure one of my cyberkids will. :)

To the newbies here: There are tons of posts thruout this thread informing you that the babies are fine. I don't understand why you keep on whining here when all the information you need about this incident has been repeated many times over. The only reason I can see is you want to keep this all going.

I have to say that first I came to this site to do research for a new car I was buying, but in being the typical nosy American, I decided to look at other reports posted on this site.
I came across the Tupper Lake reports entirely by accident. It is said that all accidents have reasons! I am disabled and unable to work out of the house, and have spent much of my time tuned to the TV.

Well since I stumbled across these reports on Tupper Lake I have all but given up on watching Soap Operas, because these are so much more entertaining. I have never been into watching Jerry Springer, but this place is a shoo-in for the story of the century. Jerry's critics would stop berating him so much if only half of these people made it to the show.

How can people from the same town defend anyone who has the audacity to 1) throw an innocent baby into the snow (give it up people, the baby is in a better place, being away from all of you!) 2) Policemen who make their own laws? (hard to believe the state would allow him to enforce any said laws! 3) whores, whores, whores! Is everyone in your town a w***e, or just those you decide need to have attention called to them lives?

I think this town, in it's entirety, is a freak show! All the rebuttals from the Tupper Lakers read like a bad comic book! There is so much going on in this town that noone must have time to work or learn how to spell. The education system in this city must be about the worst there is. Even people in third world countries have better grammer than you people.

Alright....now we know that, while this story is pretty old, Chanelle's little boy is with Dad (where he is clearly better off), and her new little girl is doing much better (as is Chanelle herself, allegedly). Kudos.

Now some of Chanelle's old Mud Puddle Jumper Pals are either defending or slinging her name, and she slings back, but not in defense of the child who was wronged, but to point out the equally sleazy behavior or attire (that's clothing, in layperson's terms) of the slanderer. Seems to me, the priorities are clear, here, hunh?

Add to this, the fact that Chanelle, the girl in question is silent for the bulk of the posting period---only towards the end does she suddenly have access to a computer...another interesting fact. Again...with only limited acces to a PC and an even more limited vocabulary, I'd think I'd take the time to set the records straight about my child(ren), not respond to someone calling me a stupid name.

Another interesting fact. Jim, I noticed that you never used the term "Post-Partum Depression" until you heard it blurbed by another post-er. Kinda freaky how it became your catch-all defense for your ex-gf. I suppose you're just tickled pink (and soft and smell real bad) over having upped your vocabulary by two-and-a-half words. Honestly, you aren't doing any of your friends a justice by first beating your chest about your great job and education, then turning around and sexually harassing other post-ers or calling them a l*****n duo. I suspect that's the equivalent to p***s-envy of the other post-ers' educations.

Another thing I noticed, was how you seemed to refresh your attentions on Juli when the post subject strayed from the "Jerry Springer" baseline. I got the notion that you were feeling a little neglected, and so, had to act out to re-focus the threadline to you.

I'm even more grateful that I carefully moniter the time our Daughter spends online, and now, I have even more reasons to be doubly watchful. Yikes. I really and truly must make clear the manner in which these comments have affected me. Let me tell all you readers a slight tale...I worked my entire life to burst, smiling and eager for success, from the tiny town in which I was raised. The most important and valuable concept I took with me from the experience of being raised in such a small town was that those raised in small towns are doomed never to leave them.

Fortunately, most small-town inhabitants are content to this insight. Unfortunately,myself included, many were not made for small towns. I thought that my answer was Potsdam, NY, where I could accomplish a dignified degree in my field and re-establish myself outside of the nasty experiences branded in my soul by the small-mindedness and infectious gossip of living in a small town. Without realizing it, I leapt from one small town to an even smaller one. Ready to experience the real world, I experienced an alternate dimension instead.

I was turned down for job after job, jobs which employers in the large city nearby my hometown would be begging for me to join them for. Why? Small-town politics. Resources were slim, from lack of anywhere to shop to lack of natural beauty to admire. I was forced to leave. HOWEVER. Whenever I could muster up enough money for gas, I headed east and a trifle North, toward a little place called Tupper Lake.

Instead of this tiny Raqcuette River, an enormous lake awaited me, a lake where I spent several hours just sitting, alone, writing about this and that. Some of my happiest memories were passing through this town....until very recently. Someone close to me fell victim to the town's lackadasical justice system, and we travelled together to correct the mistake only to be snapped at by the judge.

My acquaintance and I stood on the front porch of the courthouse at five-to-six, waiting for the judge to arrive. We assumed that, since we neared the presence of a public official, we would straighten our appearances. He wore the inside components of a suit, and I khakis with a flattering blue top. I freshened my makeup to be sure we together appeared presentable.

Upon entering the courtroom we encountered several residents in cutoffs and torn t-shirts, an attorney who dressed and carried herself as though she worked at a snackbar somewhere, and a judge who snapped at us but smiled at me when I passed him. To make the experience complete, the mistake was neither properly acknowledged or corrected, and now when my companion needs someone outside of the poisonous misconceptions of small towns everywhere to look at his driving record, a small piece will be obscured through no fault of his own.

I guess my original observation was correct, and small towns entrap all those within them. Why? Because anywhere else, courthouses do not hold court for three hours one night a week, and only open their mail when they feel like it (while in the meantime, driving records are being suspended and fined because instead of ticket payments being opened on time, they sit on a table somewhere until someoene "gets to them").

You have been through hell and back. You have had a lot of people jump into a situation that seems to be between you and your son, daughter and their father's and maybe the courts. First off PLEASE reach out to some type of organization like Catholic Charties to get help for you and your little girl.

You may have lost your son to his dad but you have a second chance now, don't lose it. Prove to all of those that don't think you can do it, that they are wrong. You were young when it happened, show them you have changed. Anyone can change, it is just a matter of doing it.

You have that chance, just do it. Prove to everyone you can do it. You deserve a second chance we all do. No one is perfect except GOD himself. I am not saying what you did in the first place is right in any means whatsoever, I think by now you realize that also.

But now, you have a little girl to think about, be a good mother and take care of her. It is ok to reach out to someone and ask for help. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Do it for yourself and your daughter. Stay away from those who want to destroy you.

It is not worth it in the long run. Please, you have been given a second chance, don't blow it.

It is up to her to decide what she intends to do. I really think everyone should try and support her in her time of need rather than constantly put her down. She really doesn't need that. Chanell, I was one in your place. However, I did not abuse my children. I had the feeling of loosing my kids. I was a single mom struggling to make ends meat. And my mom's boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend) tried to take my kids away saying all kinds of nasty things about me to Children Services that weren't true. When Children Services investigated they saw I was a very good mom. Let me tell you. this was a very stressful time for me. But, I trusted God. It took me a year and a half before I talked to my mom again. And I still do not talk to my mom's ex-boyfriend (it's going on 3 years).

I beat my self up emotionally. I was ready to give my kids up. But, my cousin reminded me that I am a good mom. And no one deserves my kids but me. I wanted to drink. I wanted to go out and have sex. I wanted to releive myself of this stress. I couldn't because I didn't have a sitter. I couldn't even get to the movies. But, I glad I didn't. Otherwise I wouldn't have my kids. I put my kids first. I put being a mom first. Let me tell you it's hard.
I know being a single mom is fustrating and hard. And it seems like no one wants to help..It was said to me by my own mom, "you made your bed now lay in it." I think that is horrible to say to anyone. Everyone is human and entitled to make mistakes. Only one can hope to learn from them. And I don't call having Kids a mistake. I call it a blessing, even out of wedlock.
Maybe, if you get your son back, you should look into churches that offer low fee babysitting for 2 hours a week. Just to get a break from your kid. Or post a sign in local college or high school asking a student to watch your kid. Even for a hour or so, just to get out of the house, you really don't have to pay alot of money to do this.

What about Catholic Charitites? Do you have one in your area? They offer free diapers and formula. They even help with clothing and utilities and counseling.
Anti-abortion places help with that stuff too!
There is help out there, you just got to get more involved in your community.

I'm writing in response to the story of Chanell abusing her 3 week old son. I'm not yet old enough to have children, but have watched many younger children Chanell should be but in prison for being such a rotten mother. Any b***h that would through her precious child in a snow bank while theirs freezing rain in a fricken cycho! Im 15 and most likely know 100 times more than that idiot. And I do have experience in having an unwed pregnancy...At 19,I was dropped by a very unresponsible 35 year old man after telling him I was pregnant...I was very immmautre and not at all financially stable enough to care for this child...I was told to get an abortion...and guess what? This baby is now a very healthy, intelligent and productive 15 year old girl, (straight A student) living with a family who adores her and has taken awesome care of her all these years!!! That is murder of unborn children, future children who can maybe save the world or find a cure for aids. We are all put on this Earth for a reason. Some of us get lost on the way. For a woman who gets pregnant and doesn't want her baby, there are safe havens for the little ones, and they are the local hospitals and police stations. Unwanted children can be put up for adoption too, I'm sure someone can love those unwanted kids. Abortion isn't the answer. Some women have as many as 9 or more abortions. I suggest that you see the movie "The Silent Scream". It shows an abortion being done while an ultra sound is being done at the same time. Then you tell me if abortion should be legal, cause if you say yes, then you are saying muder is legal.

I do not know you, nor do you know me. I am not here to judge you, but to offer help if you need it. I am a stay-at- home mom. I have four children and one of them is Special Needs. Before I met my current husband, I was a single mother struggling to make ends meat and never able to go out or get a break. I worked a part time job and a full time job. I lived in a one bedroom basement apartment with two children. And let me tell you, I struggled everyday. I struggled financially, emotionally, and physically. Life was extremely hard. I bussed it everywhere, dropping one child off at one daycare center and another child to a different school. The father of these two older children didn't help much. He sent childsupport when he saw fit.

Look, if you think you will be able to struggle and do right by your children, then I say go for it. I beleive in forgiveness, and I think you should forgive yourself and be the best mother that you can be. If you don't want to be a mother, then that's fine. Give up your children by all means, but remember to forgive yourself and realize you are doing right by your children either way.

Some serious counselling is in order to see why you have anger issues with either decsion you choose. Sometimes things happen to us when we are children and we don't realize why we act the way we do.

Unfortunately, legal and ethical regs. prevent me from providing such info to any clients because I am not a medical doctor and to provide such info as you typed here, while it is interesting, would be providing medical advice without "license to practice" ..so I will not be able to pass the info along to clients..sorry.

And about mixing opiates, painkillers and other drugs: its called drug synergism and yes, when you combine several different drugs together, you get a whole new affect ..as if you had created a "new drug". And yes I have knowlege, both academic and first hand to know how drugs can affect the mind and body. Mixing Rx drugs with alcohol is another dangerous no no. Alcohol is a drug (yes, it is, do your research folks.) Anyways, when you mix alcohol with Rx drugs it also creates drug synergism and which is explained above.

Dave: to answer your question. In cases where the children are removed due to substance abuse (and Rx drugs are the drug of choice)the children are initially removed due the parent's over using the prescribed meds. They either take more than the Dr. prescribed, Dr. shop for MORE Rx. so that they have various Rx of the same or similar drug and can take multiple doses at the same time or within close intervals of eachother...
Or they combine, as I said earlier, various meds. to make them too incoherent to effectively parent their child. A parent who is too doped up on meds. Prescribed or not..is NOT a safe person to be entrusted to supervise and tend to the needs of children, of any age.

Too many children and even teens have had to pretty much raise themselves because Mom or Dad were too doped up on pills to cook dinner, pick them up from school, keep a job, buy their clothes, take them to the Dr. when needed. These are all BASIC needs that children have a RIGHT to have met by their parents until they are 18 years old. PERIOD. ITS THE LAW. Even if they have an after school job, a child is not responsible for their own meals, rent, etc. until they are 18!!!! It is by law neglect to force them to do so.

Parents are to meet the needs of their children and reality has shown that parents who actively overuse Rx drugs....recreationally or due to addiction or chronic pain are NOT safe and not of rational mind to make good judgement and supervise their children. (there are other LEGAL methods to deal with chroic pain..I KNOW all ABOUT THIS ..I LIVE IT EVERY DAY..and deal with it without Rx drugs on a daily basis).

Parents have 12 months to work a case plan. If the dependency petition alleges that the child or children were removed due to the parent's alleged substance abuse issue. the Case Manager SHOULD write a case plan task ordering the parent to a substance abuse eval. and follow all recommendations set forth in that eval. (this could include group sessions, NA, AA, etc.) Upon completion of any substance abuse program, the parent is to present a copy of their certificate of COMPLETION (not a cert. of attendance..there is a difference)to the case manager and to their attorney if they have one. (most do, as most are court appointed anyway).

Basically, if the parent stays in compliance and does everything on the case plan, and sticks with the visitation plan/schedule and remains appropriate during visits, they usually get reunited within 12 months.

If parent does not complete case plan within 12 months and cannot establish extenuating circumstances as to why they were not able to complete it in 12 months (hospitatlization long term, etc.) ..then the child is typically placed in long term relative care (usually the child has already been placed with a relative...that is the best option ...see, when children are first "sheltered" or removed from the abusive situation...and we are looking for a place to "place the child.." we have to always consider the non offending bio parent first (the "other parent who didn't abuse the kid in other words)if there is no non offending bio parent then we start checkin out relatives to screen and try to place with relatives to keep child in the most family like environment possible. Failing those options...we look to licensed foster care families.

I love when parents follow case plans. reunifications are fun. It is good to see parents and families make steps in growth.

Jim, I am sick of you refering to you as having a state job, tech you still have one. That is if by meaning you recieve a paycheck from the state. I am actually impressed with your last post and at a complete loss as to how to rebuttle it. Good job!!! I am though wondering about mothers who must take pain killers, say for a disease or other legitimate purposes. Is there a investigation done in the begining or does the state just take the kid then find out whats going on? I suppose yes the childs saftey is the most important issue, but does the state in a example like this try to place the child with other family members? How do you work with mothers like this that were good parents but now have to be medicated?

Juli, do you have any training to back up what you are saying about people who have gotten addicted to medications a doctor has had them on for some length of time? Have you ever done a detox off either benzos or opiates, so you can speak from experience? Please hear me out and read all of this, it will be long. I'm not here to condemn, but to educate if I can.

Did I mention to you in the past that I'm a drug addict, compliments of my doctors? No, I'm sober now, I did a cold turkey (at home) off 60 mg of morphine and a few Vicodin ES a day starting this past Feb. 9th. (About the time we met in here.) Then I started a taper off the benzos the docs had me on and finally was able to start sleeping on my own this past week without them.

See Juli, some of us have medical problems or diseases that cause Chronic pain. I have Crohn's Disease . They don't even make a 'pain chart' that applies to me when I'm having a flare, I pass out the pain is so bad. When asked the usual 1 to 10 rating system by a nurse, I say 'I pass out from it' and they circle 10. So guess what Juli? I have to take opiates when I hurt, if I want to have anything that resembles a life. According to what you have written, this is a bad thing and I shouldn't have been allowed to have my kids around me? While I understand this is how a lot of people think, it's not based on fact.

Benzodiazepines. If you really wanna learn about benzos, go read http://www.benzo.org.uk and read what it's really like to be addicted to these EVIL drugs and what it's like to try to get off them. Did you know you can't cold turkey off benzos without the risk of having a seizure and dying? Do you realize that 1 mg of Xanax is equal to 20 mg of Valium? Or that 1 mg of Ativan equals 10 mg of Valium? I didn't know that when I was first given it to sleep. The doctor never thought to mention it, just told me they would help me sleep. (I will NEVER take them again, but after 2+ years on them, I can speak from experience.)

Coming off the benzos was a whole lot of fun. Sleepless nights, hallucinations, paranoia, constant hot/cold sweats, diarrhea, the list is very long. Due to the fact I did a taper off them, I didn't risk a seizure and death. Because I chose a faster taper (2 months) compared to the recommended (a year or more), I did have more withdrawal effects than some have. I'm as bullheaded as David from BullHead City (he'll confirm this, he talks to me in chat all the time, LOL), so I chose to suffer some, to get off the drug faster.

Now let's go to opiates. You made the comment that mixing painkillers creates a NEW drug? Who told you that? Opiates are opiates, the strength of them can vary, as can what they are mixed with (such as Vicodin/Loratab being mixed with Tylenol, but Oxycontin and Morphine are not). How do I know? Cause I took all those drugs over the past 5 years for the pain! Before my first surgery, I was taking 400 mg of MS Contin and 4 Vic ES a day, but it still didn't get all the pain. That does sound like a lot doesn't it, till you consider I was taking the painkillers daily for 5 years .. tolerance being the key word here. When I first was put on them 1 Vic ES would get rid of the pain, but over time, my tolerance built up.

The reason people who become addicted to opiates go after the drugs like Oxy and Morphine is because they do NOT have tylenol in them. Once you build up a tolerance, you don't want to be taking opiates such as Vicodin or Loratab, too much Tylenol in them and you run the risk of your liver being hurt. No one should ingest more than 3000 to 4000 mg of Tylenol a day. An addicted person can easily consume 40 Vicodin a day and if you do the math, that puts *way* too much Tylenol in their system.

Have you ever done a WD (withdrawal) from opiates Juli? Before you are so quick to condemn people who've become addicted, after a doctor has given them opiates for some length of time, let me tell you what it's like. You are aware I'm sure that after you are on opiates for more than a month or so, the drug will change the 'wiring' of your brain. Once taking opiates, your body's natural painkiller that your brain makes, stops! So, you have a choice at that point, you keep taking the opiates so you feel 'normal', or you go into WD. WD will start in a person taking a schedule 3 opiate (Vicodin/Loratab) about 6 hours after they take the last dose. It will start in a person taking a schedule 2 opiate (Oxy, MS Contin) after about 12-24 hours and in someone who's been on the patch (Duragesic/Fentanyl) after the patch expires in 3 days. (Methadone is a whole different ballgame. WD starts after 24-48 hours and it takes about a year for the WD symptoms to go away, NOT fun.)

A CT (cold turkey) WD takes anywhere from 4-5 days for Vicodin/Loratab, the drugs with a short half life and up to 2 weeks for the Oxy/MS Contin type opiates that have a long half life. After the double surgery I had this past August I was released from the hospital taking 240 mg of Morphine a day and 2 Vic ES every 4 hours for the breakthru pain. That's equal to 32 Vic ES a day when you do the conversion for the Morphine and add in the Vics I was taking. (http://www.globalrph.com/narcotic.cgi if you want to check for yourself and do the math.) As I said earlier, to avoid hurting my liver, I was on more Morphine than Vicodin. I have been on Oxycontin in the past too, but due to it being harder to detox from, I did a switch to the Morphine (MS Contin) when I was finally pain free and could start the tapering process.

I did a slow taper, dropping the mgs of the Morphine once a month to make the final WD a little easier on myself. This is always the preferred method, *if* the person is able to taper, not everyone is. I feel the only reason I was able to do it is that I always took my meds as directed, I never abused them. This had NO effect on the addiction I developed to the opiates. (Some people prefer the word 'dependence', since it doesn't sound as bad as the word 'addiction'. I tend to call things as I see it. You take opiates for any length of time, you will get addicted and go thru WD symptoms once you stop taking them.) During this taper I was sick as a dog for the first 2 weeks after the drop in mgs was done, then the next 2 weeks I would 'even out' and adjust to the new dose. I did this from August to February. At that point I felt I was low enough that I could quit and make it thru the CT WD. I made it, but it cost me. I dropped to 76 pounds. (Normal for me is 95.) I got on the scale yesterday and I'm up to 80 pounds now. Happy happy day! I'm finally starting to gain my weight back. :)

WD brings pain in and of itself. It also makes you so sick you feel like you just wanna die. You won't, but you would like to. It's been compared to a bad case of the flu, just 100 times worse. You spend quite a few days to a couple of weeks hurting, running to the bathroom from the diarrhea that feels like it will never end, and your brain doesn't wanna work right. This takes some time, since it's been shut down for so long and it's been depending on the opiates you have been taking to get rid of pain. That's why WD hurts so bad. There is NOTHING there to stop the pain ... and yes, what you have heard about painkillers turning on you after time and actually causing you pain, is true. After my cause of pain was surgically removed, I still had pain, but it was from the opiates themselves, once the last dose I took started to wear off. Now that I've been off the opiates for a couple of months, I have no more pain.

Now take all I've said Juli and think about someone who's been on opiates and has no understanding of addiction and withdrawal. See, I run a forum online for people who've become addicted to drugs after an illness and we help love and support them as they go thru the process of stopping the use of the drugs. A lot of them find us and have NO idea what is happening to them. Doctors are not normally that well versed in addiction and their patients suffer. I've lost count of how many people have said on the forum that they were on high amounts of opiates and their docs just stopped giving them the drug! If these people have no insurance so they could be accepted into a detox clinic, then they are on their own. Some realize what is happening and make it thru the first try. Others don't and are left with WD symptoms they don't understand and it's human nature (and addiction nature) to go find more of the drug to make the sickness stop. Some can afford to order drugs from online pharmacies .. others hit the street or start to doctor shop. They crave the drug, their bodies are crying out for more of it and they go into a tunnel vision type mindset where all they think about is how to get the next pill. Their brain receptors have been rewired by the drugs, they are thinking differently than they did before they were put on the drug by their doctor.

Not every addict is that dirty person you see nodded out on the street corner. In fact, most are not. They are good people who got themselves into a situation they never wanted to be in, just because they got sick or hurt. The next time you come across a parent with an addiction, try asking them what got them started taking the drug in the first place. You might be very surprised at the answer. Ask them why they are still taking the drug if the cause of pain is no longer the reason. I'd bet that fear of the withdrawal is one of the main factors. WD is a *very* scary thing to go thru and if the addict has no support system in place, it may take them quite a few tries before they succeed in getting sober.

There is help for addicts who do want to get off the opiates and do a CT WD at home. The Thomas Recipe is a formula compiled over the years by a former addict, that helps ease some of the withdrawal symptoms. Thomas is a real life friend of mine now, after we met online helping other addicts get sober together. Thomas gave me permission to put a copy of his recipe here for you Juli, in case you can pass it on to people you meet who could benefit from it.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox. This is a recipe for at-home self-detox from opiates based on my experience as well as that of many other addicts. It is not intended as professional medical advice. It is always wise to make sure none of the recipe ingredients or procedures conflict with medications you may be taking. Likewise, if you have any medical condition, disease, allergy or any other health issue, consult your doctor before using the recipe. Thanks, Thomas

THOMAS RECIPE FOR COLD TURKEY DETOX OFF OPIATES

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.



Yes, it's my recipe, though many addicts contributed their wd/detox experiences to its development. While there has been some clinical research into L-Tyrosine, and some rehabs now use amino acids such as L-Tyro for opiate and cocaine detox, because it is a naturally occurring amino acid, pharmaceutical companies can't patent it. Therefore, no meaningful research is or probably will be done (in the US, anyway).

I've tried to keep the recipe text as simple and non-technical as possible, but I need to provide more info for all the addicts like me who consider following directions optional, including two caveats:

1) If L-Tyro is started too soon in the wd/detox process, it can make the detox impossible to continue. Like the pill-ravenous beasts that we all are, many addicts start gulping the L-Tyro on the first day of wd -- an appallingly bad idea, considering that sedation (from the benzo), muscle relaxation (from the benzo/hot bath/potassium combination) and inhibition of bowel motility (from the Imodium) are critical at that point and L-Tyro acts to defeat all of them.

L-Tyrosine therapy should NOT be started until you're no longer feeling the acute opiate wd symptoms (you know what they are -- sweats, cramps, runs, vomiting, insomnia, RLS, etc.) and are now dealing with the aftermath -- total lack of mental, emotional or physical energy.

2) It's already in the text, but people forget that the recipe is formulated for cold-turkey (total cessation of opiates) home detox using the minimum of prescription-only drugs (Valium or other benzo), since most addicts going through this are by then out of money, drugs, doctors and most if not all family support. I don't recommend L-Tyrosine for controlled tapers. It might help when the taper dose gets very, very low, but I'll never know personally because I can't taper.

Anyway, L-Tyrosine comes in clear 500mg capsules. You can get it in almost any nutritional supplement outlet, health food store, online supplement chains, etc., though not in Canada. Just don't waste your money on products that merely include an insignificant amount of L-Tyrosine -- get the pure stuff or nothing.

A significant part of what you're probably all feeling is caused by a depletion of neurotransmitters, principally dopamine and norepinephrine. L-Tyrosine with B-6 (for absorption) stimulates the production of dopamine. It also raises norepinephrine (adrenaline in the brain) levels quite rapidly, giving you a dramatic bump 20 or 30 minutes after the once-in-the-morning dose. It feels good to addicts just out of the detox period trying to get going again!

You take it upon rising on an empty stomach along with 100mgs of B6. You first feel it in your gut -- that good tug in your guts like speed kicking in -- then, also like speed, a mind-clearing rush and a speed-like exhilaration and optimism. You'll want to take another dose -- DON'T! Once a day does it for the better part of the day, the part where you have to think, move and respond at work (all the things you can't do right now). Taking a second dose in the same day almost always results in a nasty tension and, I suspect, vascular headache. Take my word for it and skip that experience!

The one dose of L-Tyrosine wears off in the evening, letting you sleep normally. I urge most people to fore-go their morning caffeine until they see how they do on the L-Tyrosine. Coffee is merely a nuisance compared to the kick from the right dose of L-Tyrosine.

When I would begin the course of L-Tyrosine, I was finishing five, sometimes six days of cold turkey detox off my extravagant hydrocodone habit. My brain was so scraped clean, I found a 4000 mg dose of L-Tyrosine to be just what the doctah ordered. I consider that to be the high end on the dosage chart.

I don't know if the effect is proportional to body weight or not. I'd say start the first morning with three 500mg L-Tyrosine capsules. Use only pure L-Tyrosine caps, no compounds.

Since opiate wd leaves one's bowels a little sensitive, always start the L-Tyrosine course in surroundings where you can deal with the temporary runs that it can give you. It's the tradeoff for getting the benefit of the good L-Tyrosine absorption first thing in the morning. It doesn't happen to everyone. I normally doesn't last beyond the first hour. My system adjusted to it on the third day or so. Until it did, I just kept the Imodium handy.

I'd describe post opiate wd L-Tyrosine therapy as feeling much like speed does after opiate detox (good) without causing the daily depletion that leads to getting hooked on the speed. Almost everyone gets an immediate boost from L-Tyrosine. Most people use it for a few weeks after opiate detox. Some, such as our forum's NA moderator and everyone's friend ******, take L-Tyro regularly after a year or more.

In reading the recent posts of merit, those of Webbie and Nancy mainly, who refer to the child welfare system aka DCF, CPS, or whatever, I have to agree that the OLD DCF ..and the state agencies in areas where child welfare services have not yet privatized...the service is going to be less than desirable. Mistakes are made at nauseating levels, files get misplaced, etc. HOWEVER, in areas such as the one I work in, where Community Based Care is privatized, and our case loads do not exceed 20 at a time...its setting the standard for all other areas.

Yes, its stressful at times, but overall, the case management aspect is bearable. The most aggravating part is when I have parents on my case load who's relationship with their drugs or alcohol is more important to them than their relationship with their children.

I am happy to say that I have a number of parents who have, diligently worked their case plans and with whom I have recommended reunification and the court has approved. People CAN change...IF they want to. Education IS power and I have had many parents say to me "I wish MY parents knew some of that stuff they teach nowadays..I learned SOO much...etc"

And to A from Anytown FL if you test positive on a UA and you cannot provide a Dr. verification for why you are testing positive for certain drugs..ie benzodiazapines, etc. then the state was right in placing your child in your parents' custody while you got a substance abuse eval, and follow up. I have seen too often, parents who dope up on Loratab, or various other painkillers...MIX painkillers which creates drug synergism (which is like making a totally NEW drug) and not be awake enough to cook their kids meals, get them to school, pick them up from school. Heck, one parent (not on my case load though) was too out of it to take her child to the ER when he swallowed "something" ..she couldn't even tell them what the child swallowed..but it was some kind of pill.

You may think that taking prescription drugs and being addicted to them will not affect your ability to safely parent your children...but I think you know deep down, that that is not true. IT DOES impair your judgement, your reaction time and your ability to be responsible. Even though you are in the home with your child, your parents were considered the primary caregivers.

And contrary to popular belief, our primary goal in most cases when kids are removed IS reunification with the parent. Long term relative or licensed care is only a concurrent goal...a plan B if you will in case the parents don't work their case plan in the 12 month period that Fed. law allows them.

When the abuse is so heinous that the child's long term safety is at risk (ie one of the parents/caregivers is a confirmed sexual predator, etc)then we look at other long term options for the child.

We always ALWAYS are acting in the best interest of the child's safety.

Yes the system has glitches, but in privatized sectors of Child Welfare, I think you will find the services to far exceed in quality compared to the overworked "state" agencies of days gone by.

Webbie. Nice to see you hiding behind a fake name. Now let's talk about all you said and about CFS, Welfare, whatever you wanna call it. The name varies from state to state.



You are correct that David and Jim started out fighting in the Tupper Lake reports. They also talked out their differences and like the real men they are, they found common ground and became friends. That's a hell of a lot more than most who've posted here have done. Did YOU take the time to check out everything said in this report over the past couple of years and ask people in Tupper Lake what was fact and what was fiction? I did. I found that Channell is doing well these days, she sees her son who now lives with his father, and her daughter is doing fine.



You paint a real rosy picture of Welfare. Did you use them when you relinquished your son for adoption? If you did, I'm happy you had a pleasant experience. I'm a reunited adoptee myself, but what I found wasn't pleasant. My birthmom was woken up from the drugs given to her for my birth (they did that back in the '50's) by the Welfare lady and asked to sign hospital admission papers. (She had me a *very* short time after getting to the hospital and didn't have time to fill them out.) She signed where she was told to and went back to sleep. A few hours later when she woke up and asked to have me brought to her, she was informed she had signed adoption papers, not admission papers and would never see me again. She didn't see me again either, until I petitioned the state I was born in and legally got my adoption records opened when I was in my mid-30's.



Now tell me again how wonderful they are.

I came across this website accidently while surfing the internet. The title caught my attention and after reading all the posts I am still wondering if all these allegations about the said Chanell are true or are they just rumors by ex friends who may not like this person?



If Chanell did in fact throw her child in the snow, my heart not only goes out to the baby but also to Chanell herself. Chanell has to have some severe mental issues whether psychological or substance abuse related to have not only thought about harming her child but also to actually do it. (I say this with symphathy and not slander) Now to address another issue, I have read that most people on this site would agree that Chanell should never be involved in her child(s) life but nobody has taken in consideration the psychological well being of her child as he grows older not to be a part of his mothers life. Can the courts or child welfare predict that later on Chanell childs may have emotional issues by not having a relationship with the birth mother?



I am by no means condoning the mothers behavior but having my own personal experience with DCF (Dept.of Children and Families) I know firsthand that allegations made against a mother concerning abuse and/or neglect are not entirely true. Anyone can call the 1-800 number and report a parent of negleting or abusing their child.



For example: I am a single mother of a 7 year old child. I have always provided my child with emotional and finacial support as well as a stable home enviorment. I also come from a very good family but also strict. I admit I did at one time have a subtance abuse addiction for prescription pills, but I ALWAYS took care of my child and NEVER let my addiction come in the way of my being a mother. My family who after an argument decided to call DCF and allege that I was ordering RX's over the internet. Let me state that anyone who has DCF involved in their life is going to be put in pure Hell. To make a long story short DCF drug tested me for RX pills and when I failed and had no legal Doctor's note DCF decided to take action and remove my child from my custody and put him in temporary custody of my parents.



My parents who then realized what they had done stated to DCF that removing my son from me and his home would be detrimental to his emotional well being. At this time I decided that I was going to live with my parents so that I would still be in the home with my child and DCF allowed this.



My point is DCF and the family legal system is completly screwed up, here I had lost custody of my son because DCF felt that my "substance abuse problem" was a form of "neglect" and the only intervention was to take custody from me DCF still allows me to have contact with my son on a daily basis which I am very grateful for. But see the irony here? My point is DCF is not always right they are people who work for the best interest of children, DCF takes the alleged parents to court and you have to do a "case plan" regardless of whether things are true or not. A parent can have a trial but DCF will drag your entire past to the court, so if a parent has anything that could be an "issue" it will be addressed. To sum this all up DCF workers are people who care about children but they are also overworked and underpaid for the amount of hours they put in. Yes there are alot of BAD parents out there but not everyone that loses custody of their children are bad people, but only parents who have made bad choices. So my point is if in fact Chanell did leave her child in the snow then yes the courts had every right to get involved and take custody, but did that really happen or did Child Welfare make more out of a situation than what really happened. Chanell could have just slipped in the snow and dropped her child then had a vindictive friend call and allege abuse.



I do not mean to sound if I am condoning any form of child abuse because I think any person expecially a mother who decides to not only bring a child in this world but also decide to take full repsonsibilty to raise a child should realize that once you have a child your life is going to change. So if Chanell did commit the acts that are alleged and still continues the lifestyle she lead and is not doing what is required by the family court then I do not see how she can really love her child.



The legal system and Child Welfare are ultimately about the welfare of a child and parents have alot of legal rights that Child Welfare try to work with. In the end everyone is usually striving for reunification between parents and children, but the parents have to make a 100% effert in regaining parental rights. Usually when family court is involved that is your second chance and if Chanell really loves her child then she would/will use that chance to regain custody.

You people from Tupper Lake need to learn how to spell!! I bet the sheep run scared in that neck of the woods. Channell is the skankiest looking wart hog I have seen in quite some time. She needs to get thrown in the snow and slapeed silly. To treat a baby like that proves the fact that she should be steralized and sent to the funny farm. I would love to donkey punch her a leave her in the snow bank!1

As you all know by now I had my own dealings with Chanell and have seen and done many things with her.

I re-read most of these posts again and it got me thinking about some fun times I did have with Chanell and I figured what the heck maybe some good will come out of all this.



Im not sure if anyone knows this or not but Chanell likes women. We had a few threesomes with me her and another women. She had suggested one time that she would like to have a couple join us one day. After a while thinking about this I have started to wonder about it too.



Even though Chanell and I are not together anymore maybe some of you that know me might be able to hook me up. Juli and Michelle you two I think could hook me up and I would even invite Joe since I would like to swing both ways and really give you people something to talk about.

I've been following Tupper Lake's trials and tribulations off and on for a couple of years now. I was hoping against hope that progress would be made. I saw a lot of my younger idealistic self in those "reports" from the "young citizens working for change." What a source of inspiration! The constant sniping and bickering was, admittedly, a source of entertainment, mostly overlooked while seeking the real force of change that could make a difference.



I still hope progress is made. I still hope to read, one day, that Tupper Lake and it's citizens have risen and taken control of their town, their lives, their public officials and their futures.



This thread, however, dashes that hope. When I first began reading this line, about Chanelle and her son, David was giving Jim "what for" in ways that should have made him think. Chanelle was attending parenting classes and her son was living with his father, safe and sound by all accounts. She was pregnant, but I had hope again. Maybe she could learn from her mistakes and "make it right" with the new baby!



Now, I find that there is a daughter in jeopardy, (verbal abuse isn't all that different from physical) and that David and Jim are allies in the fight to keep the "status quo." I see that someone named Juli has been dismissed for various reasons (including her self admitted indulgence in immature debate.) What has happened to the "Hope?"



The bottome line is, and always has been.



There is help out there if you want it. There is hope if you will work for it. And there is a toll free, anonymous number if you KNOW something isn't as it should be.

I lost a much longed for baby a a couple of months ago. That kind of pain, I wouldn't wish for anyone, "deserving" or not. Don't wait until it's too late. Don't let your child, or ANY child suffer when so many are not only willing, but praying for a young life to share their joy, their livlihood, their love and their advantages.

He knows that his adoptive parents chose him and gave him that life. His biological father even figures in these days. We all won. 4 people (now, with our spouses, 6,) worked together to make this young man who he is...and he is WONDERFUL! All through his life, I had photos and reports of his progress. I didn't have to wonder like it was in the old days. I not only CHOSE his parents, they were willing to keep me in the loop. It can happen that way these days. No, I didn't have contact until he was older, but I didn't wonder about him the way the old adoptions worked either.



So, again I say,

She was the most dedicated, loving individual I have ever known and she would be proud of the legacy that has grown beyond her, and most especially proud to know that you have stepped into her place.

After reading most of what all you people have written here, the only suggestion that I can come up with is that ALL OF YOU, need some psychiatric counseling and possibly medication.



It started off as a gripe about some women that abused her child and turned into a bash column where almost none of it had to do with the original subject.



If you people have nothing else better to do than to sit here and insult each other then you really only have 2 choices that will help the rest of us that enjoy this site from becoming less intelligent from reading all the garbage.



1. Take the women that you were originally talking about on the Jerry Springer show because it sounds like you ALL would fit right in there. I hear they are always looking for new trailer trash.



This way you all can go face to face on national Television and make fools of yourselves in the ultimate way.

Thanks for the update Heather. Its been said several times but some people don't get it and just post here to hear themselves talk. Then when no one listens to them they change their name or city like Joe from Madrid NY did, Like no one can figure out its Joe Douglas Watson from Hamilton ON Canada. Hmmmm how many people here think of Canada when they hear "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful". How many countries call upon America to help them and expect Canada to show up? Dawn is absolutely right in what she wrote, she DOES know the person who has recently turned Chanell and her significant other in to DSS, as do I. This person did this out of pure spite and vindictiveness!! All of those allegations have been unfounded.



Partially in Chanell's defense, she is not the brightest person I know, common sense wise, and she drives me up the wall with her ignorance but her daughter is VERY well taken care of!!



Chanell is in the process of getting her GED and I think she will slowly get her life to where it should be. I am sure if you all look back even just 5 yrs you will see the difference in yourself today and that everything you have been through has made you who you are today. Yeah, Tupper Lake was ranked one of the top 10 vacation spots but they took the area and the beauty of the area into consideration, not the local villagers who dance around the bonfire roasting marshmallows. They certainly didn't take into consideration all the roads that need repairing in the village. Tupper Lake is ranked as one of the top twenty-five favorite hideouts, dream towns and secret destinations in the world, according to the latest issue of Men's Journal.

It calls Tupper Lake a great location, despite a collapsed building in the center of town.



Tupper Lake's mayor wishes the magazine left out the part about the building.She says it was torn down because it was condemned.Nonetheless, she calls it an honor.



Tupper Lake is one of ten US locations to make the list.Men's Journal ranks Tupper Lake among the best.

To answer your question Jeff, I often wondered the same thing. I work as a foster care/protective services case manager in FL and when I first replied, I got PERSONALLY insulted by Jim, David and a few others who joined in on their childish retaliation against my informed and educated rebuttals.



Now, I admit, I did at times get rather childish in my replies but it was most often in respose to some verbal attack from Jim or David.



And, I often use this site as a form of comic relief now, you must admit, the posts on here from the various levels of intelligence and humor are quite entertaining. We have people with graduate degrees all the way down to those who act as if they have not passed kindergarten yet with their romper room antics.



The reason why many of Chanelles "friends" or those claiming to know her get so hostile and insulting is that, most of them were more than likely abused or neglected as children themselves...and that is the ONLY way they know HOW to deal with people.



It is a sad cylce. And while I have let my frustration and anger out on these folks for allowing this abuse to perpetrate ...and for continuing to hail Chanelle like some poor victim...SHE is the one that abused her child--while I did all this..I had to take a step back and really reassess the situation.



I know pity all of them really...Jim, Dave, whoever else ranted and insulted me and the others who posted in defense of the poor child who was abused..



You see, all of these adults were more than likely once abused children themselves. Does it give them the right to beat women or verbally attack anyone who disagrees with them? NO..does it give them the right to call their children filthy names and scream at them? NO...



While it is NOT their fault that their parents abused or neglected them when they were young..and they had no control over what happened to them back then..they absolutely have control over how they allow it to control their future!!!



They can ACKOWLEDGE that the way they grew up was NOT healthy or normal ...



They can GET HELP..counseling..whatever...and STOP DRUGGING AND DRINKING TO escape the pain of the past abuse! THAT does not help anything ..it only causes more problems!



Finally..THEY CAN TAKE A FRICKIN PARENTING CLASS...yes...even if the STATE is not involved in your life people...and even if you DONT have any children yet...take parenting classes so you know the RIGHT way to raise children...IN TODAY'S SOCIETY.



Children DONT come with a book of instructions...but UNDERSTANDING child development will HELP ANY PARENT be successful and EVERY child have a better shot at having a SAFER childhood.



Last thing, single Moms and Dads out there...if you are gettin' stressed...its OK to ask for a breather! If you have ONE relative or friend who is NOT a druggie ..doesn't drink ...and not a sexual abuser...TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF and get that person to babysit! Go fishin...or golfin' or get your nails done Mom's (or Dads if that is your preference haha)



The point is...parenting is a 24 hour a day job and children are treasures. NOT everyone is blessed with the ability to have children. And some who do, end up losing their children to cancer, and car accidents, etc. SO CHERISH EVERY DAY you have with your children...but take care of yourselves as well. A burnt out parent runs the risk of becoming an abusive parent.



If Chanelle truly is doing better..GREAT..but if she is still hanging around Mud Puddles..then I don't think she is progressing much...



I would suggest she get her GED..get a vocational certificate and get the heck out of Tupper Lake...go somewhere she and her child can have a REAL future!



That is my constructive input for today.

People CAN change...I pray she has. But if she is still hanging around people who are psychotic or abusive or drinking and drugging or ANYONE from Sunmount...she needs to STOP..they will only bring her right back into the trenches!

Jeff, let me assure you that Dawn is for real. She may not live in Tupper Lake any more, but she is Channell's friend and is in contact with her daily, as she said in her rebuttal.



Being Channell's friend is the reason she went off on the one person who decided to keep this all going, by saying Channell was being bad to her little girl. That person, when doing that rebuttal, *knew* that Channell was not online and couldn't defend herself. Can you blame Dawn for that? I'd probably do the same thing for one of my friends, especially when you consider how long this report has been active.



How do I know all this? I have talked with Jim on the phone as recently as last night and I asked him.



Channell and her daughter are doing fine. Her son is with his father and she visits him. This has all been stated many times thru this very long report, but some people just can't seem to let it all drop.

I am hoping that some people here will come forward and show that Chanell has cleaned up her act and has become a good mother. I know she made a mistake and has a lifetime to pay for it but we need to give her a break as she was young and everyone needs a second chance. I dated Chanell for over a year, I know she can be very loving. Ask me any questions about Chanell as I am prepared to answer them without prejudice!

I would really like to visit this beautiful community/town. The next time i am on vacation i think i will stop by. Maybe go to the local bars. Or maybe even find me a red neck so we can settle down in a double wide trailer. Raise some youngin's. Then we can send them off to school so they can have some learnin done. When theys grow up me and pa can sit on the front porch of the trailer and watch our dawg breed them cats. Twin Peaks...or Tupper Lake?



I, like so many other non Tupper Lake residents, stumbled upon these "reports" while doing research on a product. To my surprise, I found the never-ending saga of Tupper Lake! :) I am originally from Central New York...the Utica/ Syracuse area. Now, I live in New Jersey...in a place outside of New York City.



I am slightly familiar with the Tupper Lake area as I have been to the Adirondack region, Old Forge, Lake Placid, etc. I have found many of these small towns to be graciously beautiful. There is nothing like the Adirondacks!



To my horror, I actually have enjoyed reading these reports which resemble a mixture of "Twin Peaks", "Jerry Springer", and maybe even a little, "South Park". COMPLETELY UNREAL.



So much "color" in such a small town... Chanell, the political corruption, stealing Elvis trays, backstabbers, cheaters, molesters, Bob and Beth from McDonalds, Erin the l*****n Manager, the alcoholic roofer, the teachers who skinny dip with students, the mental institution...the list goes on and on. Does it remind anyone of "Twin Peaks"? Also, is there really a drink called a "Dog Sh** Special"?



Hate to admit it BUT it is all so entertaining!

Wow Darling that was pretty intense. When Juli finds out all that she will be headed to Canada to find a job with your Childrens Aid Society. Then she can hook up with you and both of you can go out a beat down these dirty whores of mothers if you find any of thier kids with a diaper rash. Hell why stop there I say go out and kill them. I am glad to hear that Canada is so assertive. I hope that they are not aggressive with the protection of the children. That can, however, leave people open to all sorts of abuse.



When my ex left it was decided between us that the children would stay with me. My sister-in-law was not happy with this because it wasn't "right" and because she was angry with her sister. In her anger she called the police to say that I was neglecting the children.



I couldn't believe that the officer at my front door was saying that there was a report of child neglect at my home. I told him he had to have the wrong address. No, he checked his book and said that he had the right place. I invited him in and showed him the house. Some clean clothes were folded on the counter, not yet in the kid's dressers.



There was plenty of food in the cupboards, clean dishes in the drainer... everything was fine. I showed him the kid's rooms... and the scariest thing is that as I am showing him my daughter's room was I realized that I hadn't vacuumed her room! Can you imagine a parent thinking that way because of someone's false accusation bringing the police into my house?



I invited him to interview my neighbors and my children's teachers. He apologized and said that it was obviously a false report and he said that he would make sure that I wasn't bothered again.



My ex and I both filed a report against her sister for filing a false police report and I don't know if anything was ever done against her. That was about 10 years ago and we have all moved on.



People can change. Yes. There should be consequences! They should be measured and designed towards guiding and encouraging the change in a person that we as a society want. This can be done through counseling, monitoring, 12-step program participation, peer support, social services and a whole other assortment of tools.



Yes, feeling superior to all others feels good. It puts you on a higher moral ground. However, it is very difficult to create change from way up there. Pontificating.



Unfortunately, a carpenter has a limited assortment of tools and therefore sees all problems as nails and uses a hammer for all problems.



The next time you are tempted to attack a person (which can be an indication of poor coping skills or anger issues) take a second and think about how successfull an attack such as you are about to do would work on yourself?

I came across this site, and I canot believe the s**t I am reading. I am wondering, has this Chanell ever been evauated by a psychiatrist? Does she even have the mentality one needs to even be left alone with a child, never mind have her own? I've just read the entire "Tupper Lake Saga" and wanted to make a couple of comments (for what it's worth):



Most of us here would probably agree on a few basic things- abuse of a child or adult is wrong, putting a baby in a snow bank is child abuse, calling a child a b&*ch or using f&ck at her is verbal/mental abuse, attacking anyone with your fists is physical abuse or assault. That being said, a few folks here seem to have lost the point of this thread.



Jim- What Chanell did to her son, and apparently is doing to her daughter, is wrong and illegal by American personal and court standards. It doesn't matter if she has an excuse, feels bad about it, or is actually a terrific person who is very kind to adults. It's wrong and you can't excuse it by saying "But..." I have read all of your posts, and you seem very angry at the idea that others would see you as stupid, undereducated, trash, in-bred,etc. Can't you see that when you respond to posts with sexual innuendos, threats to meet people (or have Chanell meet people) and beat them up, personal insults, and claims that you are intelligent because you have a 2 year degree and a state job, you make yourself look like everything you say you are not. If you are really trying to defend Chanell, tell us all the things she is doing to become a good mother. Otherwise, to people like me (a selling novelist and literary Doctoral candidate who also happens to have a nursing degree) who know nothing at all about you or your town, you come off as a small town buffoon who believes his Associates degree and low-paying government job are somehow impressive. I"m not saying you haven't done well, mind you- I don't know you. But I certainly can't see what you have to brag about.



Chanell, if you are still reading, please get help. I have no problems with your lifestyle, drug use, or "sleeping" habits. My only problem is that you do not do well with children. Be selfish- think long and hard about what YOU really want in order to be happy. Don't worry about anyone else. If that happiness does not involve being a GOOD mother, a really good mother, then ignore any crap people give you and give up the kids for good. If you can't do it be honest with yourself and do the right thing, the thing that shows you love your kids even if you can't care for them- give them up permenently. I'm not judging you- I was raised in an abusive home and I know how hard it is to stop the cycle. Juli- as a nurse I deal with APS, CPS, and various other Ohio protective agencies on an all most daily basis. Thank you for all of your comments here- to the best of my knowledge everything you have said is true and correct and it's a shame that the people who need the information the most are not listening.



All that being said- what is being done right now to help the little girl in question? For any of you who say you are actually involved with the situation, I would be interested to know what any of you are doing to help? Is anyone trying to teach Chanell a better way?

Well..interesting info you posted. And you are correct, if the kids you are speaking of are actually NOT in any danger of abuse or neglect, but need help communicating with their parents..then you are right, in some respect, that the agency I work for would not be able to help that demographic.



HOWEVER, we recently added a diversion program which allows for services to be offered to families who are AT RISK of having "the state" become involved and removing their children.



Its voluntary and its a prevention program, hence the name Diversion. We are hoping it will keep families in tact, while learning healthier ways to function as a family unit.



To answer your question, we are non-profit. I was not aware that Privatized Community Based Care programs were even PERMITTED to BE FOR profit...it seems a violation of contract guidelines. But I am not a contract admin. so I am not so sure on that area...



Regarding Jim's "information and updates" on Chanelle's current state...sorry but he just has ZERO credibility with me and many others on here. Any man who continually BEGS for a physical hashing out to solve issues, along with his blatant display of ingorance and unjustifiable arrogance is NOT the best person to do a child safety assessment. Sorry, but I think HIS perspective may be biased, even twisted.



You have a point, tho, that there have not been any substantiation to the allegations about Chanelle currently abusing her daughter...verbally and/or otherwise. Unfortunatley, it is most likely because people who know of such things occurring just don't care enough to get involved.



Perhaps, as I have said myriad times before, if the person who has first hand knowledge of Channelle doing these things to the child currently in her custody would be HUMAN enough to report it, then the little girl might have a chance at a better childhood. If not, she will grow up neglected, and emotionally abused, and most likely suffering from some variant of attachment disorder. Who in their RIGHT mind could ever allow a child to be subject to that type of a future when there IS A WAY to help NOW?



I guess I will never understand people who chose to remain apathetic to child abuse issues.

Whatever you are doing with the teens you speak with online...just make sure you don't lead anyone to think you are a COUNSELOR ..or try to act as one...to do so without proper training and education, and in some states, LICENSURE..can be detrimental to both you and those you advise.



And if you are acting in a guidance type role, which is what I gather from what you have stated..I trust that you have educated yourself on child/adolescent devlopment as well as parenting skills.



If YOU had a good childhood free of abuse, chances are then, you had good role models as parents and will not pass on any bad advise to the teens you deal with on line.

Joe, I did not know I was in a class of people. Perhaps you should read before making comments. I come back here to read this posting just to see what is happening. After seeing your comment, I am offended that you assume you know me or can even place me in a class. Maybe you should offer some advice instead of taking sides and maybe people wont have anything to say about you.

Darren, I think Joe missed the meaning of your post. He is a little slow at times and you may need to word things a little more simple for him, so he can understand you were giving David a compliment, not an insult.



Juli, I did not say the kids I deal with weren't supervised. I said their parents buy them a computer, just as some parents in my day let the TV be a babysitter. The kids aren't supervised online, due to the fact a lot of the parents aren't computer literate. They just see their kids happy online, but have no idea the parts of the net they are going to. Once they find my network, then I work with them and show them that hacking is wrong (the ones that have gotten into that, not all do). I've also become friends with the majority of their parents.



The point you missed, or overlooked, was that an organization such as yours, can't help these kids, no matter how much you want to, because you aren't set up to do that. They aren't abused, nor do they want for anything. They aren't home alone and none of them are under 12 years old. They are simply teens who are going thru the natural process of rebelling. We all did it at that age to some extent. Online, they have no idea how old I am and by the time they do find out, we have already made friends. They then realize that all adults aren't people to avoid or not listen to. It just takes the time to get to know them and talk to them in their language. As you know, a lot of parents these days spend a lot of time talking at their kids, but not talking to them. I basically become the 'middleman' and in time, they see their parents are trying to help them and when they approach them in another way, then they learn to get along and communicate better.



BTW, do you work for a non-profit or for-profit agency? One of my kids works for a company that works with CFS in Florida and he told me that Gov. Bush is phasing out the for-profit private agencies. They just aren't working out, but the non-profits are doing pretty good.



Heh, in fact since that last rebuttal I did to you, 3 of my kids who've gone on to college have stopped in IRC to see me. Just good timing I'm sure, but I did get a kick out of it and figure you will too. :)



As far as you being concerned about Channell's new baby daughter, don't be. I went beyond just doing rebuttals here and talked to people who know her. She IS doing good these days and the baby is just fine. That has been stated many times thruout this entire report, but it seems a lot of people can't let it drop. Just cause one person decided to say crap about her and keep this all going, doesn't make it true. Jim knows her personally and has stated many times that all is fine. Just because you are having fun fighting with him in here, doesn't negate the fact that he's stated many times that Channell and her baby are doing good these days.

If she is continuing to frequent bars (meaning she is NOT home taking care of her child), engage in felonios behavior (i.e. drug abuse, the spreading of venereal diseases, assault and battery -- putting her daughter at risk for a future in the foster care system...which at THIS point, almost sounds like a good idea), and curse her daughter out as if she is a stranger on the street, then she CLEARLY needs to be wearing prisons stripes with a number replacing her name tag!

My prayers are with Chanell, the child and the father. With 19 years of sobriety, I know that a person can change! In myself and others I have seen truly incredible changes. I was not a father that I am proud of with my first marriage. However, becuase of sobriety and making amends through the way I live my life today I believe I am a very good parent. I believe that Chanell has that same opportunity!



Truthfully, what works better? Rewarding and encouraging good behavior or shaming someone's bad behavior? One gives a good feeling and an intrinsic desire to get more warm and fuzzies... the other causes pain, shame and rebellion.



If you want to know the source of rage, it isn't anger... do deeper and it is shame. That is why the worst abuse doesn't leave visible scars. That can ONLY be healed through love.

They tell me that they would do anything to feel the same way. When I tell them that they have to pray for that other person... that the person gets everything that they want... happiness, love, success... whatever. Of course, they can't do that. I couldn't either at first, but I found that it was the only way I could sleep. Over the years I grew, she grew, and out children grew.



Society needs to see the father as the natural parent that should be involved in the raising of his child. Arbitrary laws and punishments push the non-custodial parents away instead of supporting their attempts to remain a part of the children's lives.



All of you that want to think bad of Chanell (and I AM NOT condoning her action of before) I would ask that you sit back for a moment and think of your actions years ago and ask yourself if you want to be judged by them only? Or, have you grown, matured, changed?

I knew after time that decent people would post here, to darren and michelle thanks for your comments, this situation is horrid and people like the puppet master (lol) and side-show jim don't seem to understand how important our children are, and how it is our duty as parents and a society to protect them. Juli don't get pushed away by these morons and keep up the good work you do. A different class of people are now here in this report to put a end to the play of words, thank-god.

Next, as a disbaled vet. and a single father that put himself through college (BA from CSUSB) and is currently back in college to become a teacher, I have to ask about the father of the child.



Today things have changed and with all the talk of foster homes and adoption I would like to hear how the child is doing in the home of his father. To me, that is the first option, even before grandparents. As has been mentioned here, the apple does not fall far from the tree, and though it is a rule of thumb and not an absolute (some children grow up bad regardless of the environment) I have to worry that giving a child to the parents of a child abuser isn't just giving the child to someone with more experience of abusing a child?



We, as a society, not only need to expect more from fathers, but we also need to provide support for the single father just as we would a single mother.

Yes, many teens and even middle schoolers today are quite the computer officianados. HOWEVER, the kids I work with, are dealing more with issues of their parents kicking, punching them...in addition to calling them names. They deal with witnessing domestic violence on a daily basis.



They deal with watching Dad sell "little white rocks for money" ...so to compare the kids YOU supposedly deal with to the children I intervene and help every day is like comparing apples to oranges. These kids are so truamatized that they would like to learn how to stop wetting the bed at the age of 11 before they even THINK about learning how to write code. Please, I have been in the field for 10 years so DON'T speak to me as if I am some rookie or entry level paraprofessional.



And chatting on IRC chans does not make you a counselor. Though I am sure the interaction is beneficial to alot of the youth you encounter. I would not encourage them to HACK tho, as that is illegal. Being the wife of a ret. officer I am sure you know what is right from wrong.



About my credibility...Nancy...please, I may be a professional but I am a human being too and could not pass up the chance for some comic relief. So I posted my replies to Jim, albeit as immature as his...it made a lot of folks laugh, including myself when I re -ead what I typed and the silliness of it all. My fiance and I are planning a spring/summer 2005 wedding and really, Jim's comments are trivial in the scheme of things.



About my job...yes it is stressful, but days like yesterday, when I was able to reunify 2 children with their parents because the parents COMPLETED ALL THEIR CASE PLAN TASKS and have show amazing improvements....those kind of days make up for the real humdingers I have dealt with in the past and recently. So you see, case managers are NOT about keeping families apart.



In fact, when I write a case plan, very typically the PRIMARY GOAL IS Reunification WITH the parent or parents. They have 12 months to do their case plan tasks. If not ..we look to the concurrent goal...or Plan B if you will...which is most often long term relative care. In some cases, tho...the older teens opt for Independent Living status due to all of the benefits (free college tuition, laptop computer, living expense money , etc)



The ONLY REASON I made reference to my job stress etc. is because you and a few others jumped to an uneducated conclusion that I was the same person that posted on that Disney thread. I suppose not much different than me assuming that you, Jim and Dave are all one in the same people. Guess we are rather even on that score there.



Finally, I still have to point out that people continue to ignore the fact that Chanelle has been accused of being verbally/emotionally abusive to her new child. READ the posts where she alleg. calls the baby a bit** and tells her to shut the f**k up...NO one should talk to a child like that EVER! She obviously lacks maternal instinct and the ability to safely and effectively parent.



Anyone who thinks its ok for her to treat her child like this has serious issues and I would question YOUR parenting skills as well as your level of morality and genuine sense of all that is humane.



PLEASE realize that Chanelle is STILL abusing ...this time its her new baby. No, I didn't typo any of that, it's how the kids type to their peers, something you need to know, to deal with the kids today who have internet access. (Translated I asked you if you have been taught to: speak leet so you can deal with these kids?) Has your company taught you basic unix, so you can figure out what the kids are up to? Most of them figure out real quick they can do more damage from a shell account. Do you know how to build your own computers, so you can talk on an equal level with the kids? If you don't have knowledge of any of this .. you aren't gonna get very far with the kids of today who are almost all computer and internet savvy.



I do it for no pay. My pay is the 'thank you' I get from the kids and watching them start to apply themselves in school and then go on to college. How many kids have I been 'Mom' to over the past 11 years I've been online? I've lost count. But I can tell you they still stop in to see me in IRC at least once a year to let me know how they are doing, once they have gotten thru college, started on their way in life and don't have the time to be online as much anymore.



How are the kids you have taken away from their parents doing these days? Do they check in with you and keep you up on what is happening in their lives? Or have they been left hanging out to dry in a system that prefers to take them away from their parents, instead of working with them to solve their problems in an attempt to keep the family together?



I'm the first to admit there are some bad parents out there. This report was started way back on 3/1/2002. On 5/28/2003, Jim wrote a rebuttal telling everyone that the baby was living with his father and doing well. Shortly after that he did another one, to inform those who were concerned about the new baby Chanell was carrying, that she had taken anger management classes and she seemed to be doing better. While his rebuttals were not long rambing ones, they are here and had you read them before your first rebuttal, you would have known how the baby was doing. (This goes for you too Joe.)



Not that it matters Juli, but I come from a line of police officers and am, in fact, married to a retired officer. You probably don't wanna get me going on 'the crap' that people do. It has been acknowledged, admitted to, and alleged by numerous parties, that these young men and women OPENLY buy, sell, use, and distribute drugs on your premises, abuse themselves and the children left in their charge, and have even been known to harm other individuals through criminal acts of assault/battery, D.W./U.I. infractions, and sometimes resulting in vehicular manslaughter and murder.



MANY of these incidents have occurred AFTER having slammed back several drinks at your place of business, with the waiters/waitresses/bartenders supposedly trained to recognize and stop serving at the sign of ANY obscene intoxication in any of your patrons. GOOD to see that they are on their jobs.



They have been deemed a danger to ALL law-abiding citizens within Tupper Lake and the Tri-State surrounding areas, and should NOT be allowed to further place innocent people at risk. And should you continue to serve and encourage the presense of these individuals in your establishment, you have opened yourself, and all legally-binding entities and interested third-parties involved in your company, to litigations, civil suits, and the judgment of MILLIONS of viewers of this daily saga you breed there.

1. DO CALL 9-1-1, D.C.F., H.R.S., or whomever is the family health agency for your area. Report what you see Chanell or any other drug-abusing deadbeat doing, that endangers the lives of an unborn, newborn, toddler, young child/adult, senior citizen or disabled individual. It IS your duty as a concerned citizen. And if you're not part of the solution, then you are DEFINITELY part of the problem...or maybe even the SOURCE of it!!!



2. STOP DOING the activities around Chanell that influence her to stray from the path that she now needs to take towards sobriety and responsibility.



3. TRY BEING a role model yourself and look at getting into a rehab or 12-step program. There sounds like enough people in your town to gather together one HELL of a meeting! LOTS of issues to deal with.



4. AND SPEAKING of meetings, why don't you town-folk get together and HAVE a town meeting or church/home gathering, to air out your differences in a more civic-minded venue. Therefore, when you complain about people judging you and getting into your business, you can do it on a face-to-face level, and not the cowardly one that many of you have stooped to.



Now, back to Chanell... Why don't you try looking into Jobs- or Peace Corps, out-of-state colleges, a trade school...HELL, right now I'd even send you to the military! ANYTHING more productive than what we've been hearing about on this site. And get out of that town, too. (No, I'm NOT encouraging you to move to a neighboring town that has the same mentality and dead-end possibilities as Tupper Lake. I mean, move to a place where you actually have to log some miles on your rental truck receipt, and where BOTH your zip- AND area codes change.)

And since you don't seem to have ever ventured far away from home, may I ALSO add that in other parts of the country/world, "$28,000-a-year with an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice" would appear as though you're an under-achiever who SETTLED for the first job that came along, and were too lazy to further your education. (Although, with THAT degree, it probably makes you the town professor).



As a matter of fact, compared to some wages I know of, THAT salary would feel MORE like minimum wage to us. It's nice that you're made to feel like a "Big-Ballin', Shot-Callin'" high-roller back home...everyone enjoys a few minutes of fame here and there. But you must ALWAYS remember your beginnings, the people who knew-you-when, and where you came from! Oops, I'm sorry, you're still there. However, my gripe with you has less to do with the comments on Tupper Lakens, than they have to do with your discussions on Iraq. You will find that you can "get more bees with honey, than vinegar". You illustrate REALLY key and valid points about the wars and oil issues (I, TOO, was in the military - Air Force, active duty.), but your views seemed to have diminished into a tirade of racists comments that I deem to be unfair and offensive to an entire race of people.

What you are is a case worker, you know how to file the proper paperwork. This has been going on for over 2 years.



Get that Child removed from that town. He will be looked at as an oddity for the rest of his life.



Be concerned, that little boy still has a life to live.... in that town, with those people around him. He will always be known as "that's the kid who was thrown in a snow bank so ma could party." Lord knows he will probably grow up to be just like mommy, to drown away the sorrows caused by her that night.



By the looks of this thread, that community will never let him forget what happened when he was an innocent baby. File the paperwork to have him removed from that town. There should be a law protecting children from unrelentless public abuse. The longer this goes on, the more his future will be affected due to the unsupportive nature of people who wont let any closure occure.



File that paperwork, and state irrepairable damage to the future welfare of that childs mind due to community abuse on the internet.

So think logically people. Yes, I love my job

and it is personally and professionally rewarding. But anyone who knows anything knows that the state of FL never pays ANYONE what they should get paid...heck..they have not raised the minimum wage since 1989!!! Yet the cost of living raises EVERY year!
