ok, about a month ago i quit my job at coldstone creamery. i had finally had enough of the store and the owner. the owner of the store had been refusing my request for management because he didn't want to pay the extra money, even though he hired his family members and close friends and paid them more than me. i had worked there the second longest and was making 75 cents less then everyone else that worked in the store... finally id had enough so i found a new job, put in my 2 weeks notice and quit.
the paychecks were not to come in until the next friday. so i waited until the day had come, and i went to the store to pick up my check. but it was not there. i asked the owner (being as how our store has no managers at all) why my check was not there and he replied saying that it was not there because i had not yet turned in my uniforms. well this seemed fair to me, so the next day i came in and brought in my uniforms and the owner was not there. i asked the other employees behind the counter when he would be back and they both looked at me with an odd look and said that they had thought that he had already left for new port, even though he told me that he would be there to give me my check the next day when i brought in my uniforms. because we do not have any managers i needed him to give the paycheck. so i called him and asked when he would be back so i could get my check to which he replied, " you made me wait, ill make you wait." so i left a note of his desk saying that if i did not receive my paycheck by that monday i would be calling the department of labor, because it is illegal to withhold a paycheck without cause.
i came in on monday and he was there, but the check was not. he said that he had mailed it to me. i thought that it seemed a bit unnecessary to do that but i went home and checked the mail for a full week, then on friday evening i came home to my paycheck sitting on the table. my roommate had seen it on his desk and brought it home for me. the next day i got a text from him asking me if i had asked her to steal it off of his desk and that he was going to press charges for the theft of my paycheck. this whole experience was due to him only wanting to prolong me getting my money. fair?? i should say not!
