 I have read several complaints and attack’s on the moral, ethical and professional actions of Alex, if these are in fact true and you have been “ripped off” by him as the one stated he takes money and than changes his number and accounts Why have you not contacted the authorities or the wounded vet who stated he took their kid savings the authorney general of any state would accept this information and investigate the aledge actions they are intrastate frauds and this becomes a federal crime so again why have the authorities not gone after this horriable con man as you have stated. I have no idea why one would write this about his program the training site is easy to find and if he is ripping of somany whynmit go and see him or have the San Louis police visit his property and check on the animals as one states they are filthy pens and area Now my knowledge I am a disabled vet and marine (2nd Force Recon) retired I never told Alex my past just that I was in need of a service dog that would protect Me and be able to be trained to help in my seizures, I started having after being injured 2012 Alex talked with me over a period of three months about the needs and wants I was looking for he was very helpful and honest in the dealings we were having even giving me several other programs that he said would also be of help. I contacted these programs and I was interested in them but bring a Marine and he alex s Marine I decided to call him back we talked and now I told him my background and why I decided to go with him. Yes I sent a holding Dow. Payment that was made perfectly clear was non refundable and we started the process but when my funding was not working out I called Alex and told him I was not Able to get the full amount by the time I was to pick my dog up. Here’s the part that I must make clear I never asked for a discount or any special treatment But Alex than offered to give me a break on the price we had agreed upon and that was final I wanted to just put off the date of delivery he would not have any of that he gave me a great present of true humanity that day. I was driven out to the faculty because I wanted to see the whole place and also get out of Michigan for a bit I had been couped up for the past two half years because of injuries and wanted to get out Alex wanted to bring the dog out to me but after we made arrangements for me to come When I did get there he greeted us with open arms and I was introduced to emperor we hit it off and after twenty mins in the field together we have been insperable When I was leaving it was very hard to see the saddened that Alex had seeing emperor leave showing the true love he had for his k9s Not only was emperor highly trained he was house broken socialized because he was to go with me everywhere he never barks at anyone or thing unless he is threatened only twice we had to se this he also picked up and began warrening me of on coming seizures it has been three half years since I got my partner and emperor has touched so many lives for the better I am now looking into the future and the possibility of needing another dog in three years as emperor will be twelve and the constant travel will be putting a strain on him so he will be able to retire to a plush home life I will be getting another partner from Alex and I would not heastste to give my full support for anyone to get s k9 from CQBK9 And for the ones writing the bad reports please respond and explain to me why you are not trying to make right the wrongs You say happened or is it that you have fabricated the lies you are saying and one last idea Fr The two trainers that say they saved Alex’s dogs from death i. The cold why did you. It at that time report the police And animal services yiu are professionals And say that you are so good why would you allow that kind of treatment go on again is it just that you wanted to hurt the CQB name and Alex Dunbar I still have his same name number and email as it was when I first contacted hi. To anyone who relied on my opinion and chose to do business with Alex Dunbar, I am truly sorry to have misled you. He now owes me $1000.00 also. I took a pup from him to train for a wounded warrior. It was donated by him to the soldier, but I did all the initial imprinting and training of the dog. I did this training free of charge. However, when we picked her up from Alex, he said we needed to take a different pup instead. That puppy he gave me was severely injured after she was attacked by the other pups in her litter, and wasn't sure if she'd make it or not. We needed to take her to the vet (I got stuck with that vet bill), and then she needed to be spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped (which I paid for). All of those things Alex said he'd reimburse me for. He never did. I placed her with a wounded veteran and she did great for him at first. Then the hip dysplasia popped up and she started going blind, all before she was 18 mos. old. She began attacking people without provocation, which I think was attributed to her loss of vision. I had her evaluated by 2 other trainers before I suggested Anka be euth'd. I got stuck with that bill, too.

I have been to his "kennel" in the San Luis Valley. They are merely pens set up outside and kept filthy, without running water. The dogs are thin and barely handled, let alone "trained." The only good dog he has on the property is one that came from a different kennel, pre-trained before he got the Malinois. Almost 3 years ago, he was supposed to breed that male (recently advertised on Doomsday Preppers as an explosives alert dog, despite having ZERO training for that task) to my female, but has put out every excuse in the book for why he couldn't drive the dog 3 hours to where I lived at the time (CO), said he was almost to my place in SD but the dog got sick (so he drove it 900 miles home? How about taking it to a vet?). Then he was going to get the dog collected so we could do an AI breeding once I got to VA. He claimed to have Sparko tested but his sperm count was low. Gee, the dog is now almost 9 y.o. Guess we can cross that breeding off the list, although I seriously doubt he paid a vet to do a sperm count. 

As to his "training" of the dogs he sells. Wow, I can't believe people sent him money without asking to see a video of the dog performing what he claims it knew. Honestly, that's a good case of buyer beware and using some common sense. I had Carman at my house to whelp one of his many "oops" breedings. I was suprised that he'd keep/breed/sell a dog so seriously people shy and fearful. He ended up selling her to some folks in WA, I think. They returned her when they discovered she wasn't housebroken, didn't know any commands, and was afraid to come out of the corner or do anything with the family. Anyone on here who bought a dog from him based on my recommendations, I really am sorry. It was poor judgement on my part to agree to help him when he asked me to write up a rebuttal to an earlier claim.

As to his military experience. I requested and received from the DoD a copy of his service record. He was never on any missions. Ever. Never. Did not happen. He spent a good portion of time on leave and working in a recruiter's office, however. I can't believe Nat Geo didn't vet his credentials before airing that show. He's never worked in the Middle East, done counter-intelligence (nor attended any of the MI schools required for that MOS), or been a covert secret agent ninja whatever the current claims are. He can tell a good story though. 

Again, I apologize if you were ripped off after reading my glowing recommendation. I was foolish and it was poor judgement on my part.

Which, I found to be very honest and professional. In fact I never had any red flags raised in any of our conversations. Alex being a former Marine is a bit different with communications on the phone, hes very simple text. Which, a lot of people in the civilian world have a harder time relating with. Alex never gave me any fictional stories, to sell his business. He was very forward, honest, and striate to the point.   

Alex has kept in e-mail communication throughout the two months of training. I even had my dog returned for a few weeks because she came into heat, and we had already paid Alex in full. Once she came out of heat, he started her training again, and he added a few weeks to her training free of charge. If he had been dishonest he wouldnt have even taken Ariela back after the two weeks. I cant speak about buying a protection dog from Alex, but he has been training my GSD, and has been very honest and professional with us.

I cant speak for other people but I can speak about my own personal business transactions with Alex. He has been very honest, forward, and has been in communication with me the entire time. I have seen his kennels, which are very clean, well kept, and maintained; he has plenty of protection dogs on site, so I dont really believe that he wouldnt provide you with a dog you paid for unless he decided to refund you for personal reasons. I will assume his dogs need experienced handlers, so I am pretty sure he doesnt sell his dogs to anyone with a checkbook.

As for a fellow Marine defending his own, that is what ALL marines do. The "MASTER Gunnery Sergeant, retired of 20+ years of military service was putting his name, rank, and title on display to defend Alex's integrity, which is what many of the statements on here are attacking.  I think the "Jarhead" comment was very unprofessional and a reflection of poor judgment in your defense. He wasn't disgracing the men and women of the military; he was demonstrating Alex's integrity. Master Gunnery would be a Corporals Senior rater, so it is his evaluation of Alex based on his own professional experience with Alex which he has the right to defend. As to not discredit Alex, but to vogue that Alex is a man of good merit, and good standings.

As for a former Marine defending his own, that is how ALL Marines are. I think the "Jarhead" comment was a bit brash if not on its own unprofessional. He was putting his rank, his name, on the record providing he could vogue for his fellow Marine. So he was not disgracing the men and women in the military he was demonstrating that he has seen Alex integrity which is what many of these statements are attacking. It is hard when people don't understand the military, I have only known Alex for a few months, but I will vouge with my name that he has maintained integrity and professionalism with me.

I've known Alex Dunbar since June 2001. His name has stayed the same since then at least. I've seen his driver's license and the name on his medical records from when he had cancer surgery. While Alex is a shortened version of his full birth name, it really is not uncommon to shorten it to Alex. The surname remains unchanged.

Since 2001, I've never had a different phone number for him-- it's still the same one that's posted on his website.

I show no other e-mail addresses for him in my e-mail address book. I've used my same e-mail address since 1996, so I'm guessing his e-mail address has been the same since we met in 2001. I don't delete old e-mail addresses for people- just write expired next to them if it's a dead address. 

His snail-mailing address has been, and is still, posted on his website. It's still the same website address that he's been using since... 2003 I think? I don't know that exact date- sorry-- but it's definitely been ages. It's www.CQBK9.com in case you have misplaced it.

I'm having a hard time buying into the legitimacy of the "I can't reach him because everything keeps changing so he must be a fraud" claims. In fact, when I know 90% of everything the original poster wrote is a lie, I am pretty tempted to believe the remaining 10% is a lie as well.

When folks hide behind the anonymity of the internet to make outlandish claims or be a bully, I think to myself: What a sad little coward. And then to tell others to engage in the same behaviour so you won't be all alone looking like a sad little coward, or because you hope they will accomplish something you're unwilling to do yourself? Criminy, that's even more pathetic.

Look, pick up the phone, send him an e-mail, or write Alex a letter using any of the info on his site and I think you'll be just fine (if getting resolution to a problem is what you really want). If it's just to whine and tell tall-tales on the internet, then don't be surprised when someone calls you on your BS.

Alex Dunbar is the owner of CQBK9. Yes he has sent me many emails over the years again YEARS! regarding my dogs pedigree. Promise after Promise still no papers on my dog. Each year that goes by costs me thousands of dollars as I intended to breed my dog . Yes he did send me a recent email promising once again that I would have my dogs pedigree ,so we shall see. I will keep everyone updated regarding this problem even my friend's in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

of no experience and Linda McCorkle, Phillip Rein are, unfortunate, people, never happy and slandering my business, when I am doing the right thing. Paying money back, getting dogs papers, and if you have not met or seen mine dogs, my reputation overseas and with police in the US, speaks for itself. Slander is a crime and I have an Attorney. This is truly unacceptable behavior and I will prosecute to the full extent of the law. 

The last post has got to be a joke. What does having been shot at or having been a former Jarhead have anything to do with stealing peoples money? If there was a crayon font for this post I would use it for the angry defender of Alex Dunbar hoping it might be more easily understandable for his simple mind. In your pathetic attempt to defend Mr. Dunbar you only made him look worse. If you are the company he keeps I will take my business elsewhere. Please think twice before you open your mouth again and disgrace the good men and women of the United States Marines. 

In searching for a K9 I spoke with Mr. Dubar on the phone several times. I can not say that I was all that impressed and his website did raise a few red flags with me. I did not at any time get the feeling that he was a thief. I did get the feeling that he exaggerated a bit. There is a big difference between the two. 

Having served with the above Owner, I can say that former Corporal Dunbar is the man you want to have your K-9 trained with, and to have you on his side. He was a Team Leader at 3rd RECON Bn, where I was also stationed. I have one of his K-9's protecting my wife while I am downrange. He knows hard dogs, and is operating also with his dogs, at the edge of the spear. I doubt you have even ever been shot at. Well, Alex has, and can back it up. I would not go running your mouth at us Marines. Whatever transpired during your transaction, if this is even a true story, Alex would go out of his way to make sure you were happy. Or tell you otherwise because you sound like you have never even been with real dogs for any amount of time, let alone with real Marines. He does not change his name, or other such nonsense you write about. He backs up his service, training, and dogs, bar none, better than ANY One in the dog world. I too have been burned by this guy and have seen this same comment made by onwardtothestars on another board and I will make the same reply to him.

You bought two puppies. Unless you have no idea how to raise and train a puppy you should be happy with your puppies.

This individual above and myself paid for fully trained PPD dogs and got burnt!

People rarely get their feelings hurt over something like this. If they had received what they paid for as advertised on his site there wouldn't be any issue.

Do you really think all the people are making up stories about a guy who is just upfront and honest and delivering what is advertised?

Glad your puppies turned into pets that make you happy. Keep in mind you don't have a clue about the interactions that have taken place. You can only report your experience with PUPPIES. That does not give you any background. How do you know that people haven't file with BBB's and AG's do you know their capacity in those cases? Perhaps you should have all the information before you assume that everyone is wrong except Alex.

If I ever see the refund promised I will be the first to post on this board that Alex is a man of integrity and keeps his word.

I have known Alex going on 7 years, I own two great dogs I bought from him. He has never done me wrong or anyone I have recommended him to. I think you just got your feelings hurt a long with a few others. Work it out in person, don't get brave behind a computer screen. Go and personally visit Alex. Small claims court is another option, file a complaint with the Colorado Attorney general etc etc....
