My friend started the CR england school about one month ago. and every thing went well or at least it seemed ok. untell he started to tell me what was going on. My friend is Asian, a good guy, hard worker, and quick learner. I was incoreaging him to get a better carrier. so I sugested trucking, I was already an employee with England and thought everything was ok, but I am a white guy. He started the school and the paper work was easy all the things was easy for him, except when he got to the Driving yard. out of all the people there he was the only Asian person. there was a couple of African people and Hispanic people there but the majority was white. This is california, but there was 2 girls in the class, from what 4 of the graduating students told me. that the girls could not shift and they hit the curbs in the DOT evaluation course and still graduated. is it fair that the last remaning African american person had to Threaten the England school with a law suite because they would not train him properly? or is it fair that my friend didnt recive any training in the yard and was told to get in the truck and do it himself? with out any proficianal training they expect him to pass the test. and when he asked for help from a new england trainer that was a nice guy and wanted to help him so he started to show him the right way. then one of the other trainers came to them while they was training and told the new guy not to train him the right way. so he started to teach my friend how to do things the wrong way and my friend knew this but tride to complie with the trainers request and when he failed the trainer would scold him loudly. but the way that he did what the trainer wanted was the way that he was told to do by the trainer. if you are in a straight line back? and your trailor startes to go to the right, which way do you turn your steer tires? TO the Right!!!.... the trainer was telling him to turn the wheels to the left and when he finaly did turn the wheels to the left the trainer gets upset and says you dont lesson to me, you do everything wrong. they let him do the ally dock once on the first day in the yard and then forced him to take the test without complete and proper training. the same thing that was going to happen to the black guy, but the black guy was smart enough to say "I will Sue you if you dont train me". I declare that CR England are Racest, unfair, cheapskate, lier's that are making a crap load of money and do nothing, they offer freaken slave labbor with the un-nessesary CAT program. do you want to work 3 weeks at only 10 cent per mile? that is 300 dollars for 3,000 miles. SLAVE LABBOR!!!!! Please any of you at england want to come up with an excuse,, post it. I think its funny when england has somebody that try's to represent them and fail's misrably. there is no equality at england. all you guys that are company drivers im sorry for your lose, all you lease operator's im sorry about the big shiny Shaft they have inserted into your rectom. enjoy your day fella's

Thought OOIDA only won part

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 30, 2007

I read on the C R England website judge backed them ( in part anyway). I forgot the exact wording but judge ruled against them for loans before 2001 and in their favor for loans 2003 (or 2004) forward.

When push comes to shove racial discrimination is hard to prove. I doubt the posters allegations though. Find it hard to believe that someone was given false info in order to fail. Sure there were other reasons.

I read the lease they had advertised. Looked like they had most of expenses shown but I never saw where they GUARANTEED that the person would get the miles shown in the breakdown. Just looked like best case scenario to me.

If I drove I probably wouldn't even think about being a lease operator until after I got experience. Then would try to buy/lease truck on my own and not go thru any of the companies that provide it. They are getting a discount and not passing it on to the lease operator. Not that I am anti-capitalist or anything but seems that since they don't pay benefits to owner operators they could at least pass the same discount to them.

Same old poop, different year

AUTHOR: Deborah - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 25, 2007

First off, lay off the racism accusations and Mormon slamming. You have no proof of either. I worked for them for 19 months, and the only open bigotry I saw was towards single moms and the GLBT community.

CRE's training program, and quite a few trainers, are notorious. So is their lease program, but for different reasons. CRE's goal is not driver retention or safety, but to put as many lease trucks on the road as possible. Where esle can you go to attend driving school, go with a trainer, team with another trainee who knows as little, or even less, as you, and then get plopped into a very expensive truck with huge payments and expenses, all so you can compete with even lower paid company drivers?

As for the lease, I wish some of you would read the thing or have an attorney go over it with you. In all probability, you wouldn't lease with them because there is no way to make a decent living, not that there is much chance as a company driver for CRE.

The problems at CRE have nothing to do with racism or being Mormon. They are simply greedy, and know their scam works well on those to lazy or ignorant or inexperienced to read and understand what they are getting into when they sign on with CRE. They dazzle you with a shiny new (sometimes) truck, sidestep your concerns, and could care less about your safety or well being.

As long as people continue to hire on with CRE, it will never chage.

Another Driver thats been Shafted by the CAT Program.

AUTHOR: Crtreetopper - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 17, 2007

I was on tr. 93031 and was kicked off by the "trainer" of this program. I was told I was only there to help him pay for his truck, At the cost of slave labor. Slave labor is outdated, no driver has the right to tell a student that he is only there to help make a driver truck payment. The student driver is only paid $0.11 a mile that truck moves, this is below fed or state wage set. I was kicked off his truck in West Memphis, Arkansas for no good reason; afterhours really could not help me in that time either. This driver also abandoned the load there where I was kicked off. I help after hours find this load because I was with it all; afterhours should have been able to get me to a buss station of a air port to get me home or to the airport. This is just a secured mess with the Cat program and needs to be rethought with in the company.

Why does it always come down to the "Mormons" are too blame?

AUTHOR: Emily - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 05, 2007

Maybe the people at fault are just people, not needing to be defined as being Mormon. Maybe a person who is Mormon can be at fault without it being "a Mormon did it." Maybe you are stupid bigots to even say such a stupid thing.

And maybe you should try showing up for class on time, and not doing drugs so you don't fail your drug screens, etc. Maybe it is actually all your fault if you don't pass the stupid class.

England is one of the worst employers I have ever heard of... I personally know someone who works for them just to go out and get abandonned trucks. Because they work their people so brutally that people don't quit by returning their trucks at the depot. They quit wherever they are, call England and say, "This is where your truck is." These people are employed FULL TIME to fetch abandonned trucks. And he says there is one per location.

Yes, it takes a lot to be a driver. But apparently brains and integrity aren't some of those things. It scares me to death to think that the largest most deadly vehicles on the roads are being driven by bigots who don't understand that a person is just a person; not black, white, Mormon or Catholic. They are just a person. Anyone can be corrupt no matter what race or religion they belong to; get a grip and grow up.

Some clarification on lease costs

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 19, 2006

Although I agree that the CRE lease program is a very bad deal, everyone has the opportunity to carefully review it and walk away. Nobody is forced to sign it. It is a choice.

First, the comparison of the 3 year loan at 7% for a new truck is absurd. Nobody finances a new truck for 3 years, and 7% is very unlikely. The average individual going to buy a new truck will finance it for 5 to 7 years, and will face an interest rate of at least 9% with excellent credit, and a good down payment.

Financing is hard to get on big trucks as the default rate is very high.

As far as leases go, many of you people are focused only on the truck payment, which is only a part of the lease cost. Other factors in the lease payment are:

Liability Insurance
Cargo Insurance
IFTA
Base plates
Qualcomm
Trip pak
Tolls/scales
Oil Changes/Washes
Maintenence/repairs
Dispatch cost
Accounting cost
Initial acquisition costs of the vehicle
Initial setup of the vehicle
Annual inspection
Salespeople to establish accounts
Driver trainers and facilities
Office staff
Management staff
Yard employee staff

Now, add in the monthly truck cost.

If you average everything out, it costs at least $700 a week to operate a new truck. That is cost, and it is conservative.

As a single owner operator, your costs can be much higher, and you must have a cash reserve for repairs and emergencies and your $5000 deductible on the standard cargo insurance policy.

CRE fronts all of the operating expenses to the lease driver, then the agreed upon costs are deducted from each settlement.

If you don't like the lease program, you are free to go get your own authority and buy your own truck and trailer, get your own insurance, do your own accounting and DOT compliance and book and bill your own loads. Lots of fun. Trust me

In an industry filled with problems, and plagued with 100% job turnover, CR England manages to stay right near the bottom of the barrel.

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 18, 2006

I'll tell you straight up what you'll be facing as a beginning truck driver.

Long hours each day. Most of them driving. Plus, a lot of sitting around and waiting. You spend your waiting time in bed, asleep, or trying to sleep while they have a huge forklift driving around in the back of your truck.

It's dangerous. It's either the MOST dangerous job you can get, or right down there at the bottom of the list. In a bad accident, you either get crushed to death. Or else, the diesel fuel catches on fire and you burn to death.

You're dead tired and miserable all the time. Check this out. I'm talking to a driver the other day. It seems that somebody took a long steel winch bar and hit him with it. Know how that started? Talk over the CB radio. People who are dead tired are like ticking bombs. Get in their way. Say something. They'll kill you.

Married? Got kids? Forget all about them. They'll be at home. You'll be a million miles from home. And, you'll stay a million miles from home for a month at a time.

Money? About $700 to $1,000 take-home. You work 100 to 120 hours for that. Do the math.

Any good in the job?

A little. You see the sunsets. And, the prairies. And, the rock formations. But, you can't stop for more than a few minutes. You gotta stay on schedule.

You wanna really see what you're in for?

Go to newbie driver. Click on a driver's journal. A woman wrote a journal of her day-to-day life. It's pretty much dead-on as far as what you'll be facing.

Trucking is a hard job. It's a dangerous job. It's a lonely job. And, that's when you're in a GOOD company.

Now, imagine what your life is gonna be like when you get with a pimp-a** outfit like England?

There's only one good thing about long-haul driving. If you learn to handle the truck, you might be able to trade up to a union truck-driving job. You'll be local, and home almost every night. Plus, you'll be making $75,000 a year.

If you're willing to spend a few years with the bad, it could possibly lead to something better.

Are Lease payments to high

AUTHOR: Jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 18, 2006

Response to Dave

New Frieghtliner trucks go for 90 to 100k.
check out the payments @ 7 % interest for 3yrs it will be 2800 per month for 90000.00 new truck.
Of course you will own it after 3 years, but try to get a truck for a new driver. Then what would that truck be worth after 3 years with that new driver?

Mormons and scams

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 17, 2006

It has been my experience with England, amd most Mormons, that they like to bilk hard earned money away from people who have truly worked hard for it. My main point in the lease scam is the fact that England charges SO much more for their leases than what they actually pay companies like Freightliner for. If they were truly interested in keeping good lease drivers, then they would keep the lease costs down to near what THEY pay, and let the lease drivers make some money to cover their trucks and costs AND AND AND...money to support their families.

#4 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Completely Wrong, I blame the Drivers

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 08, 2006

First off the CAT program is 4 weeks long and they pay 10cents per mile for all miles driven with your CAT trainer. So at least 5000miles or $500 per week, or 6000m for $600. CR England is notorious for very high miles in fact probably the highest in the industry.

I trained from a class of 30 with only 10 people graduating, the same 10 that made it everyday on time for their training. The rest just washed out for stupid reasons like cheating or failing drug test or background check (Ex LAPD Detective conducts a 15minute Morality Interview) or were late, absent, unpaid child Support or whatever. With such a high turnover rate they cannot survive being racist (the government can, see if their are any asians euros or mexicans at Compton City Hall).

The Training is not meant to make you a truck driver, that can take years. It's just enough training to shift gears, turn, and straight line back. The Driver Trainer will teach you the rest you need to know including some backing but thats a skill that takes the longest to learn.

Now about the Lease Program and and why I blame the drivers. First off I did not lease a truck. Plainly stated I was not ready for it. My trainer honestly told me that while I was a good trainee, the training itself does not prepare someone to a successful lease operator. In fact it barely prepares someone to drive solo, so he recommended I drive team to get experience; before leasing.

People do make great money leasing, but there are extra responsibilitys and risk involved with leasing; unfortunately England will let just about anyone lease including people like your friend who cannot even handle driving a truck. So therin lies the problem; Leasing and trucking are not for everyone, but people of at least moderate intelligence can be successful. I am now a successful Lease Operator.

Apparently Dave can't read either...

AUTHOR: Hugh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 27, 2006

I'm sorry you got hosed in your lease deal with CR England - maybe next time you will have an attorney look over any $100K contracts you sign. I'm sure posting at this site over and over again will help.

If their leases are bad, then I hope OOIDA prevails - it's tough enough being a driver without your employer trying to screw you as well.

But if you had read the original post and my repsonse, you would see it was entirely about racist hiring practices - the original poster was playing the race card as an excuse why their friend didn't pass the school. False accusations like that just make it that much harder for people to address real cases of descrimination.

All I said was my experience with CRE was not what the poster reported - that I had personally met CRE drivers of a variety of races and nationalities. That's all. No need for you to get your panties in a twist.

England's customers have no clue

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 26, 2006

This is in response to the idiot who posted above about England being great because they deliver to his company. Big deal! CR England is one of the worst scams to work for, whether that is being a lease operator or a company driver. These customers of CR England NEVER see behind the scenes, so when one so foolishly makes a comment like that, I have laugh my a*s off.

I've made numerous complaints about CR England, and all of them are true. Just look at ALL THE REPORTS on here you fool, FROM HUNDREDS of former CR England drivers! Wake up, smell the coffee in stead of the scent of sticking your head up your dark side. lol

CR England is FINALLY being successfully SUED by the OOIDA for some of their crap they've done to drivers over the years. If I recall right, the first court date is set for Oct 16 of this year (2006). Remember, a Federal Judge has made the comment that CR England's lease is "unconcionable." So, do some research pal before you start spouting off like a trained puppet.

Good thing spelling ability isn't a condition of employment

AUTHOR: Hugh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 01, 2006

I'm sorry your friend didn't have what it takes to graduate from England's school, but your allegations are absurd.

CR England has been in business for many years and has plenty of people willing to go to work for them. They pick up and deliver from my place of employment and their drivers run the gamut of every race, creed and sex.

I seriously doubt you actually work for them and I hope this whole thread gets deleted.
