I called credit one bank today to set up a payment plan as I am behind on payment. I have done this with other credit card companies today and every other one kindly worked out a payment arrangement with me without insulting me. At credit one, I began by explaining my situation to a customer service rep named Josh and let him know I would have money to pay my bill in a couple weeks and wanted to make payment arrangements by providing my bank routing number, etc. I was met with harassment, personal insults and accusations.

I asked to speak to his supervisor, Katie, who grunted through an apology. This company not only rips people off by way of their misleading terms and conditions but insults people who are trying to stay in communication to pay off their debts.

If this is the kind of people they hire to speak with their clients it is simply more evidence of what a corrupt and slimy business they are running. People should be aware of this. The only time I have ever made the effort to comment online about a company is with praise. This is the first time I have ever been treated with such an unacceptable level of rudeness that I can not stop myself from making a public statement about it.

Ken,
Thank you for your helpful comment. My point was not that I have the right to set re-payment terms, it was that I have a right to not be insulted by a customer service rep. Especially when I was calling to address my late payment with full intention and means to correct it. Instead of insulting me he could have helped me set up a payment or simply tell me there was nothing he could do and that I would have to deal with collections. Either way I would have been kind and understanding and appreciative of the customer service. Instead some a**hole with some serious control issues used it as an opportunity to feel like a 'man' and berate someone he's never met,and knows nothing about. I have never been late on payments before with this company, have great credit and simply hit some financial trouble last month at which time I called them and let them know immediately so at the very least they knew I was aware of my obligations and was staying in communication with every intention to remedy the situation. Realizing I was still behind this month I called again today to see what my options were knowing that there may not be an easy option but I wanted to communicate and see if I could arrange another payment.
I am not a delinquent, I have worked since I was 11 years old, worked my way through school and own my own business today which I have worked very hard for. I am in the business of helping people, I do not overcharge and therefore I make a living but am not rich. If I were a deadbeat I would not even make an attempt to stay in communication. They will get their money and so much more and I will never do business with them again. It seems well known on the internet that this bank has a reputation for misleading people, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsT9JwcMg2Y
starting with with it's logo that is designed to look nearly exactly like capital one, a more reputable bank. Maybe misleading is a subjective term..but I recognize that I made the choice to use their credit service and therefore am honoring my obligations. However, nowhere in the agreement did it warn that late payments would be met with hostile personal insults.
I assume you have never really had any financial trouble or perhaps you invite/enjoy castigation when you do. Either way, I wish you the kind of success that comes from kindness and integrity and I hope that if you do ever find yourself in a similar situation to the one I have described you will not accept rudeness in return for your honest/ polite communication and good customer history.

you have no clue as how to properly handle your finances.

"This company not only rips people off by way of their misleading terms and conditions but insults people who are trying to stay in communication to pay off their debts.  If this is the kind of people they hire to speak with their clients it is simply more evidence of what a corrupt and slimy business they are running. Just curious, what are these "misleading terms and conditions" that bother you? How, also, are they a "corrupt and slimy business" for holding you to that agreement of "misleading terms and conditions?"

The customer does NOT get to set re-payment terms and the company may or may not work with you...that IS their right. You are sounding like a serial deadbeat.

No, I don't work for ANY financial institution.
