We are a family of four who made arrangements to relocate to Las Vegas, NV. We searched online for an apartment at www.forrent.com. We were very happy to see that they had virtual reality walk-throughs of the particular apartment we liked, since we have children and wanted to secure a home before we touched down in Las Vegas. We spoke with Patricia of The Crystal Court Apartments (702-737-5597), and she assured us that a deposit to secure the specific apt we wanted was fully refundable and would guarantee us a place to live when we arrived in Las Vegas.

We had no problem sending in the deposit because these people are obviously seasoned scammers. When we arrived at the apt we were very disappointed to see that it looked nothing like the virtual tours or photos on the website. In fact, it looked at least 10 years older than the ste made it appear.

At thi point, we expressed our disappointment to Patricia, and she assured us that our deposit of $725.00 would be refunded to us in full within the week. We stopped back a little over a week to pick up our deposit, and Patritia, with strange look on her face, said that she would call the corporate office to see where our deposit was. This took place around 1:15 pm, when she called corporate and said she was told that the lady who handled this was not in the office. Then Patricia told us that she would call us tomorrow to let us know when we could expect our deposit back. Of course, she didn't call us back the next day...we had to call her. She told us that she had not talked to the corporate office yet, but would call them right then. Of course, she did not call us back again, so we called her once again at the end of the day. She then informed us that they were processing our refund. At this point, I asked for the number of the corporate office, because it was apparant that something was afoot.

I was directed to Beverly at 702-732-7794 ext 11, who handled this part of their property management company. She informed me that she would cut the check tomorrow and have it signed when one of the owners came in and that she would call me when this occurred. Guess what? True to their company's standard business practices, she did not call back by the end of business by the next day as she promised.

I called her back the next day to inquire about whether my refund was signed and ready for to pick it up. She said the owners stil had not made it in, but she would call me the next day when the deposit was ready to be picked up. This went on for four more days, with Beverly promising to call and never calling, and me calling and getting the same answer.

At this point I proceeded to call a friend who called Beverly at this property management company and needed a place. We have Beverly on tape explaining their company policy and procedures, which included the deposit being fully refundable if my friend and his wife did not want or like the apartment when they saw it, but the deposit would ensure that they had an apartmemt when they were in Las Vegas - yes...we do have this on tape! At this point I called the corporate office, Property Management and Development Corporation and spoke with the vice president, Leo Fry, and while I was explaining my situation, thinking upper managemnt could not be a part of such illegal business practices, Mr. Leo Fry interjects that he was fully aware of the situation and a decision was made, and he hung up at that point. It was very apparant that this was business as usual for Property Management and Development Corporation.

Four weeks have gone by to date....no deposit refunded, and not even one phone call returned.

After speaking with Mr. Leo Fry, I then contacted the For Rent Magazine Company, whose online magazine we used to find Crystal Court Apartments. I have used For Rent Magazine in several other states, and thought them a reputable company. I called them, explained the situation, and even explained that I had the property manager on tape admitting that the deposit was fully refundable and that I had just been cheated, robbed, and ripped off by one of their advertisers. To my shock, they cared not at all, said there was nothing they could do, and weren't even willing to help us to locate the Property Management and Development Corpration. I asked if they were willing to let anyone advertise in their book regardless of fair business practices or not. Their response was one of total lack of concern for this point of issue.

In summation, I wish to warn everyone and anyone out there of the following scammers:
