We entered into an agreement contracting Dean Altmann for his services. He quoted us $8250, we agreed and gave the go ahead. This was to put in fill around house, black dirt, finished a pond that we had dug for our fill. This was under the agreement that he would remove the sand and haul to his site for retail. He agreed to clean up mess and debris left behind. After 15 long months, we received our bill.....make that bills.

Dean Altmann waited 15 months to give us our first 2 invoices. These totaled well over $14,500. He was never authorized to do any other work or charge us for additional services other than what we had agreed upon and were quoted.

We expressed our concerns to Dean - he withheld the bill, put unauthorized charges on our account. He replied in the form of text messages- telling us he wanted nothing, wondered if we could pay half, we could make him payments, he would even go to the extent of changing the bill. We did not take him up on any of these offers.

An agreement/ contract is just that. We did want to settle our debt, but not for the amount we were suddenly billed without any communication or knowledge.

This bill also included another surprise in the form of interest charges ( never disclosed to us) in excess of over $2,500 dollars!!! With that being said, he told us we could make monthly payments, in which we did for 6 months. In February of 2013 we offered a settlement of debt.

We offered to pay for the services we were quoted and agreed to in the final payment of $4500. Dean refused.... He instead decided to turn us over to collections for a debt of well over $11,000. We are in the process if disputing it. We had to hire another excavator to come and haul away more than19 loads of sand we were left with. Not to mentioned the tree damage and unfinished driveway he made to haul bedding sand out of here.

And lastly, beware of the fees he charges - we were told that each piece of equipment that is hauled to your site comes with a one time delivery fee. He may use it and haul it back, but you would only be charged this hauling fee once, along with his "hourly" work rate. Looking back at our 2 bills.... We were charged EVERYTIME the equipment came and left.

Black dirt is far from what it seems as well. We received sand dirt from our neighbors forest full of granite, roots and sticks.... This was off a neighbors pond he dug!!!!! Check out the pics of our yard.... Will take us having real black delivered and another round of seed and such!!!
