We have been Dish Network customers for about 7-8 yrs. When we first signed up we could get the channels we were going to watch. Little by little things changed. We live out in the country so we don't have many choices for our tv watching. Now I have had enough. There isn't one business out there that forces you to buy things that you don't want. It's like going to the grocery stores and being forced to take lima beans when you want baked beans.I hate lima beans but am forced to take them just because it's part of my package. I am forced to take 250 channels to get the 20-30 that I want and I watch. They are paid by at least 1/2 of all the programing on dish.So both of us are paying for the channels. The buyer and the seller. I believe that any other business who did this type of business practices would be jailed for fraud. Now ,after I paid in advance, they no longer will accept payment in advance so they are taking the monthly rate out of my advanced payment and I'm sure there will be a balance due at the end of the year.Good luck with that one.it will be "bye bye"

daven,

I understand your concern about this and would like to give props to the response given as that's correct information.  Please understand that as a network provider, we pay the networks to retransmit their programming signal to you to view.  Based on this, we have only limited control over the prices and have no choice but to structure our packages according to the contracts we have with each network.  Have you had a chance to go online to our package comparison tool at http://www.mydish.com/upgrades/english-packages/?WT.svl=upgradessubnav to make sure of the best-fit package for your needs?  Please let me know and feel free to email me your account number at michael.lemar@dish.com so I can review any and all options with you.  Thanks!

While I would prefer my TV ala-carte also, it's not viable for the providers.  They pay fees to all their source companies and it would probably raise prices overall to cover that if it was ala carte.

When you change to Comcast, DirectTV or any other, be sure to come back here after you've been with them awhile....should be amusing.

"There isn't one business out there that forces you to buy things that you don't want."

Absolutely incorrect, ALL the programming providers do it.  Don't run off in a snit and get a worse deal than you now perceive you have.  No, I don't work for Dish, but find their policies at least livable.
