First of all when i called to find out if there was Fios available in my area, i was told no and proceeded to set up a land line connection for my home phone and internet. After that i was TRANSFERRED to their affiliated satellite provider, dishnetwork.

The sales rep proceeded to tell me i would have a 100 dollar gift card, free blockbuster home service and 4 tvs connected to the satellite, Not once was the fact that there is a 2 year contract mentioned or the hefty termination fees.. They required a credit card to bill first month. big mistake on my part.

Consequently i call verizon for an issue with my internet and they inform me that they DO have Fios in my area! no idea how i ended up with dishnetwork.hmmm    interesting.

So long story short i decide after several outages and inconsistent service, i called to cancel. They inform me that there is a $275 cancellation fee plus $17 per month remaining on the contract which is 23 months...,yes i've only had the service(if thats what u call it for 1 month) which totals $402!!!! Then if i want the montrosity that was put on my roof removed thats an additional $99! So in essence they want me to be stuck with the service. i even spoke with the "Executive resolution specialist" and got nowhere other than keeping the service and having then switch the equipment! No thanks, i will be writing to the FTC, FCC and anyone who will listen.

and as far as the "hopper" system, its worthless i have four tvs, cant use them all at once since the fourth one is what they call a "mirror" tv and only works to link in and watch one of the other tvs are watching or whats been recorded on the device!. I could probably write a book on how wrong ALL of this is, deceptive, false advertising and over the top termination fees. at least give the customer a trial period. all those incentives they brag about, thats only if you do direct pay from your credit card.

on top of it they dont care that i am a single mother on a fixed disability income. Oh and before i forget that credit card they used to open the account, yea thats where they want to charge the cancellation fee to! i cancelled that card number and blocked them from running any charges. Its been a headache and a half that no one should have to deal with....

contract

AUTHOR: Highlander - ()

POSTED: Saturday, October 19, 2013

I just want to say I'm a former employee of Dish Network, and I know for a fact you do not get service with them without an installer handing you a typed contract that stipulates all of your terms and conditions and length of the contract, but you want to say they are a liar when you would not take the time to read a contract in which you signed. You can say you did not sign one but they have it on file and can pull it up anytime. They will not leave a system installed without yoru signature, so the lesson here is learn to ask questions and read something beforeyou sign it and quite blaming a company for just doing business.

First off I am a subcontractor for dish.If you have read any headlines lately you would soon realize they are one of, if not the crappiest companies to work for.Lets use the words Mislead you...those sales persons you speak to  would sell their children  for lets just say a few 2 year contracts.I hear it all the time and when I am doing a hopper install I make sure to educate you as customers as to what you are getting.you just didnt get me as the tec doing your install. These people will have us wearing their uniforms! buying white trucks ! making us work crazy hours and when its all said and done we look like dish network employees.we speak like dish network employees  we fix all the garbage they so eagerly install. And if you dont like it they keep your money and they tell you to take a hike. they make us sign a contract OK-ing them to take our money,,,,its really kinda sad..now you know why the man is a billionair,I like the part where they make it seem like the hopper removes commercials....the sales people really never ever clarify that.all it does is remove commercials from the 4 prime time news channels...and it doesnt happen till the next day....so as long as you dont mind watching the news a day late with no commercials ....LMAO !....there it is.the software on the hopper is a total joke.they love to tell people its a 1 to 2 hour installation. hell you could be sitting there for 2 hours waiting for that dam hopper to get all its software downloads and then when you think its good you have to reboot the system 2 or 3 more times to link those stupid Joeys.and then let them tell you with the ever so straight face...yes and we need to hook this system up to your internet to provide you with a feature which moniters only the health of your system...Come on now people do you really believe all that.yes it does moniter your system ok, health , well you people are smart take a guess.does dish have a good picture...yes sure...is it better then say direct tv ?only different channel line ups....cable well Im not a fan...fiber optics has my vote but where i live it isnt happening...had it in ny for years now and if you have the chance to get fiberoptics thru verizon I highly recommend it.their customer service sucks but hey these people are selling you tv not therapy.....the final on this all,you are responsible for reading the fine print...dish sucks to work for but the product in itself isnt bad once its up and running.sales people are exactly that and they grossly mislead people i see it every dam day....Im sorry for you and everyone else that doesnt read the small print....and let me just say it is very very very small.....

And when I had it installed I knew there was a contract involved - customer service and the tech say that before you sign for installation! From the Dish Network website

Your order will require a 24-month commitment and continuous enrollment in AutoPay with Paperless Billing. At the end of
promotional period(s), then-current price(s) will apply unless you call or go online to downgrade.

Offer value is up to $132.

Blockbuster @Home for 3 months

The streaming service via your TV requires a broadband connection, HD programming and a compatible HD DVR receiver.

Regularly $10/mo for one disc at a time.

The Protection Plan provides free shipping for equipment replacements and reduces the cost of in-home visits after the initial installation from $95 to $15.

$10 monthly HD add-on fee waived for life of current account

If you are so poor then stop getting luxuries you cannot afford and NO I do not work for them

#1 Consumer Suggestion

You know that piece of paper you signed when they installed their equipment?

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 14, 2012

It's time you read it.
It DOES show YOU agreed to the "over the top" termination fees.

The 2 year contract allows the satellite TV companies the means to be sure they recover their installation and equipment costs which are subsidized by this 2 year agreement.

You WILL be sent to collections since you cancelled your credit card and writing the FTC, FCC, Santa Claus or anyone else will help since you DID agree to this.

BTW, YOU being a "single mother on a fixed disability income," you couldn't afford this deluxe system anyway, why should Dish be sympathetic to your ill informed decsion to sign up?

You really didn't think things out, did you?

I do NOT work for Dish and NEVER have, I have had their service, though for MANY years now, no problems.
What "outages and inconsistent service" did you have?
