2002 Honda Civic was overheating on Christmas vacation in Sevierville.  Brought it to Done Right Automotive the next day.  Total charges were $850 for radiator flush and two new "sensors".   Only took cash, had to find a bank open on 12/23 at 4:30 pm or he said we couldn't pick up the car until Friday (this was a Monday).   He said he told us he only took cash but I don't remember him ever saying that or it would have raised red flags in the beginning.  Finally found a  bank still open before Christmas holiday where I could withdraw cash from my credit card and paid him the $850 just to get the car back.  he assured that the overheating problem was fixed and the car was good for the 9 hour drive home.   1.5 hours into the drive home car overheated.   Overheated the entire way home after stopping at several auto parts stores where the managers noticed the radiator reservoir cap missing, which causes overheating.  They all (four different places on the way home) tried to fit a cap and tried to help us get home but in the end we realized only genunie Honda cap would fix the problem.   After staying in a motel on the way home ($300 extra expenses) we finally found a Honda dealership open and got the $7.83 cap and the whole overheating problem was solved.   This guy caused us to lose $1150 and ruined our Christmas vacation.   Too bad my husband and father of my daughter whose car it was couldn't be there to help us avoid this creepy man that took advantage of innocent females on a trip to get over grief of losing their father.    This guy needs to be shut down and put in jail.  This guy, Rick Dunn, even admitted he saw the cap was missing but didn't replace it or think it was necessary.

Yeah, Rick screwed me too...

AUTHOR: Mike - ()

POSTED: Monday, July 07, 2014

A few months back after geting 2 separate repair estimates form 2 national chains here in Knoxville I took a chance in using a smaller local shop located close to my home. I explained to this Rick character the exact problems and let him look at both of the estimates. I asked him if he could diagnose the problems and then go ahead and make the repairs. He made copies of the 2 repair quotes and stated he knew what the pronblem was and yes he could get the car up and running. He also came in about 25% less expensive then then the other quotes. So we left the car with him. The first issue was he told us it would be just a "few" days to leave the car. This turned into 5 days and he would never give me a straight answer on a completion date. Afer about 4 days I dropped in to talk to him. Of course he was "out to lunch" or "on a parts run". His sleazy mechaninc had excuse after excuse. And he never picked up his cell phone when I tired to call him either. At this point after many red flages had gone up I insited on getting the car back. His mechanic said sure but only after I paid them. I asked him if the repair was done and he said sure it was. At this point I wanted to call the police but my wife was upset and we decided to pay him what I thought would be the resonable amout he quoted me. Nope, it was well over that. So, since we have only 1 car, we paid him and got the invoice. The invoice had the same exact stuff the other 2 quotes had mentioned, nothing more.  After I started the car it was apparent it still had the same problem and nothing was resolved. Just a horrible experience from start to end. Please do not use this shyster. Well, just the other day I drove by his shop and it appears he has gone out of business. Haha. Looks like old Rick has had some bad karma come back on him and hopefully he took a big bath, a lot bigger then what he ripped me off of.
